Star Trek: Short Treks – I am more excited for this than I am for Marvel Phase 4 at the moment. Look it’s my new space family! Oh I have so much hope for a spinoff right now, this proves they haven’t abandoned the characters!!

Actually re: marvel phase 4 I’m really glad they confirmed Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2 etc. because yay! But we kinda knew that was coming. The surprise announcement (to me anyway) was that Doctor Strange 2: House of Madness or whatever they are calling it, is going to be a horror movie.

Now I can’t watch horror movies. Anything with a jump scare in it and I’ve basically run so far I’m on another planet, my anxiety is cranked up to 11 anyway, I just literally can’t cope.

I also really don’t like Doctor Strange. So I’m actually relieved that I have a reason not to watch his movie now, as I probably would have made myself (as I did with the first one) because it’s part of the MCU. Well now I’m going to skip it and that’s the first marvel movie I’m saying that about (I did skip the marvel netflix etc. but we’re talking movies here).

Anyway I also quite liked that the next marvel movie has my fave Natasha in it AND it comes out on my birthday next year 🙂 Now next year is a big birthday and I have decided I’m not having it, I’m going in for minus numbers I think, buuuuut this movie might soften the blow a tiny little bit 🙂 Yay for Black Widow!

Ok SDCC spoilers and stuff. I just went through a blog to try and see all the announcements as I’m King of missing things. So here’s what stood out to me:

Taskmaster whoo!

The Black Widow villain apparently and maybe I just like him because I thought he was the most fun hero to play in Marvel Heroes (man I still miss that game!) but still I think it’s cool. Makes me even more psyched for the movie! 🙂

LEGO LEGO LEGO

You guys know I love Lego right? :p although to be honest I’m not that interested in the pictured sets. I just like hearing about them. I am going to a Lego store in September and I can’t wait to lay real eyes on the Tantive IV with minfig Bail Organa’s debut + Leia and C3PO and R2D2. It looks like an epic set.

Marvel’s What If?

Sounds like the biggest gift to writers everywhere because that is my favourite question – what if?

The thing that is scaring me the most though is so much is Disney+ and there’s still no news about how that’s going to work over here in the UK. We have DisneyLife right now but I have a feeling that’s not the same :/

You know it’s starting to sink in now that Agents of Shield is cancelled.

I love it and I’ve rewatched it loads already and I can always do that BUT the immediacy of new content will be gone.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets caught up in watching new stuff and doesn’t turn back to the older stuff that often. I recently was inspired to do a Killjoys rewatch BECAUSE season 5 (the final season) is going to be airing soon, I have smiled and liked it, but I probably wouldn’t have done it without the prompt.

Stargate is something I think about everyday probably but I haven’t watched it in months – I haven’t watched it this year! I love it and could watch it forever but there are new things to watch and so it slips on the priority list.

Now Agents of Shield is cancelled and only has one last season, that’s only one more season of new content, and I’m getting a bit sad now. I meant what I said yesterday about this show getting better over time. It’s an absolute gem – six seasons of awesomeness so far! – and I expect season seven will be fantastic too but then that’s the end of it.

I guess it’s like everything else, there’s only so many hours in the day, only so much TV that can be watched. Earlier there was a tumblr post that asked “do you ever look at your bookshelf and wish you could read everything all at once?” and my answer is yes absolutely! BUT I also wish that about TV. I want to roll around in the shows I love and enjoy them all.

So yeah despite knowing it was coming I really actually am mourning the end of Agents of Shield. It’s a great show, in my opinion there was no decline, it’s going out on a high which I guess is good but also means imo that it had more in it. I really will miss it.

You know I said in that TV ask meme thing that Rumbelle changed my life. I don’t know whether I’ve ever talked about this so just excuse me while I muse for a minute.

Without Rumbelle I wouldn’t be on tumblr. I found tumblr through looking at Rumbelle fanfiction (well actual I found Rushbelle first as I was a Stargate fan before Once). Without Rumbelle and tumblr I would never have signed up to the Rumbelle Secret Santa. Without the RSS I would never have met and talked to @little-inkstone.

You know I read posts sometimes that cross my dash which say not to underestimate internet friendships and I feel like I’m proof that somebody in another country, whom I’ve never physically met, can and has actually had a profound impact on my life.

If it wasn’t for talking with @little-inkstone I would never have thought about university. I’d failed out the first time and spent years wishing for a redo. Talking with them inspired me and made me realise that I didn’t have to wish for a genie to grant me a redo, I could redo just a decade later. In September I start my second year of my degree. It’s hard and a lot of days I hate it but I’m in a much better place in my life because of it.

There’s more. I wrote over 500k of Rumbelle fanfic. Now a fair bit of it is truly awful but I wrote it. I had ideas and for the most part I finished them. Without Rumbelle I wouldn’t have discovered A Monthly Rumbelling and I wouldn’t have learned to write on command and to a prompt. I’ve always struggled with the question “am I a real writer?” because for the most part I know where my ideas come from. The Rumbelle prompts gave me faith in my own imagination. I don’t have faith in my own writing abilities but hey one step at a time right 🙂

I actually changed the names and then submitted extracts from my Rumbelle fanfics for my portfolio. Rumbelle fanfic got me into my university course.

I haven’t written Rumbelle fanfic in a couple of years. I never intended to stop but life happened. Once Upon a Time as a show frustrated the hell out of me. It is not my favourite show BUT it is the show which changed my life.

So yeah that’s the story of how Rumbelle changed my life…

1. Who is your favorite character in 2?
I have to pick one? Ok well I’m going for HG Wells but seriously HG and Myka are a pair *nods*

2. Who is your least favorite character in 1?
Least favourite on the show that makes me happy? the show that is made of pure joy? Oh that’s hard. That’s really hard. I suppose maybe I wasn’t all that fond of Nicole and I do have a bit of a love-to-conspiracy with Judson.

3. What is your favorite episode of 4?
Failsafe possibly. “Cut the red wire.” “Carter they are all yellow”. It was a stand-alone, riding an asteroid through Earth. I don’t know it was just fun and the first one that came to mind. I could do a really long list.

4. What is your favorite season of 5?
Season 1 probably. I did like the whole “bounty hunters in space” thing which has been background to the whole “war against the green” since then.

5. Who is your favorite couple in 3?
They are why I’m on tumblr. Without them … my life would be drastically different. #Rumbelle all the way!

6. Who is your favorite couple in 2?
OMG YES! Sorry I did say Myka and HG were a pair 🙂

Oh I ship them so hard. I love them so much! Bering and Wells guys!!!

7. What is your favorite episode of 1?
Erm every single episode? Seriously I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewatched this show. It is just made of happy. I suppose if I absolutely had to pick I would go for the season two premiere. It’s just “your average tuesday” 🙂

8. What is your favorite episode of 5?
Oh difficult. Erm. I tend to binge watch this show so they kinda blend. The one that is coming to mind was the one with the acid rain in season one. Johnny is trapped at The Royal with a hostage situation and he has to help Pawter (I ship them) and then at the end he’s reading a comic and Dutch joins him so there’s a great friendship moment as well. All the characters get a turn, Pree and Alvis are there. Although I do like the episode earlier in the season with that warrant invite party when they are chasing down Big Joe and so the boys do a team-up with Fancy because Dutch is being blackmailed by Khlyen, it was a good insight into the RAC.

9. What is your favorite season of 2?
Season 2! That was the big HG Wells season 🙂 She was also in season 3 (some amazing amazing Bering and Wells stuff) and I have to be honest I haven’t seen season 4 and 5 because all the Bering and Wells stuff and HG’s sacrifice in the season 3 finale gave me so many feels I haven’t felt up to continuing. I mean how could the show top that?

10. How long have you watched 1?
It’s been about a year as I discovered it last summer. Unfortunately that was about the same time it was cancelled 🙁 so four seasons is the lot. So sad because the show was so brilliant, I would have watched it for infinity.

11. How did you become interested in 3?
I got netflix to watch Daredevil, as it was a marvel show and I’m a marvel fan. I didn’t actually like Daredevil in the end but at the time as I had the sub I wanted to find more stuff on Netflix to make it worth it. I scrolled through and tried a dozen shows. Once Upon a Time hooked me in the first 5 seconds with the production value, the sunlight on the water as Charming rode the horse along that causeway… I’m not 100% sure what kept me watching initially as my memory is tainted by my present feelings. I think maybe I was just intrigued by the concept. Anyway this was when season 4 was going on I think, and I caught up over the summer and started season 5 with everyone else.

12. Who is your favorite actor in 4?
Amanda Tapping probably, purely because I think she’s one of the few I’ve seen in other things. Plus she plays my favourite character so /shrug

13. Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?
The Librarians #1 hard to vote against Bering and Wells but it’s a pairing against an entire show and The Librarians is just … well it’s not perfection because there are things I would have done differently but it doesn’t make me annoyed, it doesn’t frustrate me, it just makes me happy.

14. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3 ?
Once Upon a Time simply because they made more. Once had what 22 episodes a season? And The Librarians had 10, apart from season 4 which had 12, and I watched 6 seasons of Once and The Librarians only had 4 so yeah math – Once.

15. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Haha oh man talk about fate making #4 be for this question. I have often said that Samantha Carter is my role model, so yeah hands down no question.

16. Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?
Once and Stargate? It’s problematic because of the whole magic on Earth thing. I suppose perhaps if it had stayed only working within the town line, and there was a bubble around the town, then it could be said that the rules of physics had been altered due to some kind of phase distortion. Magic is after all science we don’t understand yet to paraphrase that famous quote, plus the whole magic bean portal thing – portal to other lands, other worlds – does fit with Stargate a bit. Then I suppose the characters embodying the fairytale, is a bit like the goa’uld and the various mythologies on Earth.

So maybe?

17. Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple.
Unlikely but ok? Erm well according to The Librarians ship-a-thon, pretty much any character can be shipped with another. I’m struggling to find one that is unlikely AND ok because it’s one or the other. I don’t know. Sorry I’m coming up empty on this one.

18. Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?
Killjoys. I don’t understand where they are going with it (season 5 is airing soon and it’s the last season so all will be revealed!) but I have faith that it will make sense and be ok. The show is complex but repeated rewatches have shown more foreshadowing than I had previously thought. Once Upon a Time was an amazing premise, the actual storyline not so much.

19. Which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?
Well they are both very good but we’re talking “Stargate, it’s a great big whirl

You know I unsubbed to Netflix a couple of months back because they didn’t currently offer anything I wanted to watch.

I subbed to DisneyLife which is full of fresh content so I’m getting my subs worth BUT it just isn’t as good as netflix.

There is no “pick up, put down” feature. I can’t start something on one TV and finish it on another, or finish it another day. There was a powercut last week and so I was cut off mid-episode. I had to fast-forward (which is harder on stream) to get back to where I was – Netflix would have remembered.

Netflix also has a watch history AND I can alter it if I want. So I had a moment of no-control and got a months pass to NowTV and tonight I suddenly wanted to know how many movies I’d watched (so at the end of the month I’d know how many I’d watched for my money) but there is no history option, so there is no way to know short of remembering (which is kinda the point). What it does remember is what I’m currently watching (but like DisneyLife not where I got to) and there’s no way to change that. So I have two movies on there which I did watch but obviously it didn’t trigger that they were finished, there is an episode of The Flash because I clicked play thinking “ooooh I’ll try that show” only to realize it was season 4 and not season 1 and therefore useless to me. It bugs me that they are on there but I can’t do anything about it.

It seems all the giants are making their own streaming services these days. Disney is going big with Disney+ and CBS has All Access etc. and I’m sure there are others but I’m tired and shouldn’t be rambling but anyway, I hope these services realize that there is more to Netflix than just streaming – it’s how it streams.

Those little quality of life touches add up imo.

Cat Grant knew, Totally called it.

Now I’m scared though because in Lois and Clark tradition the second somebody not within the circle of secret found out, they usually had their memory wiped, or got killed or Tempus got branded as crazy. The whole “well today that’s just a Superman from an alternate universe” didn’t wash with the press. I don’t know I’m just saying #tradition says it’s not looking good for the worlds most stylish and empathetic boss.

Also is anyone else the least bit suspicious that if Astra got herself caught, she knew that she would be taken to the DEO right? It reminds me of that Fury quote looking at Loki on the hellicarrier and going “so why is he the only one who wants to be here?” or words to that effect. After all if Astra needs soldiers her fellow Fort Ras aliens would probably be her first pick. So imprisoning her in the same prison is a bit like when on Agents of Shield they locked up Kreel (absorbing man) in the same building as all the confiscated artifacts – the one place he wanted to go. And getting yourself captured, that just gets you past security so uh-oh.

Anyway holy-cliffhanger Batman. That should come with a warning label, I have to go to bed! Heh 🙂

Just going to share this total brain fail I just had.

I read that Halle Bailey is the new Ariel. My immediate thought – “whaaat? Isn’t she too old?” because I had read the name as Halle Berry /facepalm

Anyway I’m becoming a fully paid up Disney fan to be honest. Currently subbed to DisneyLife (which I hope will become the UK’s Disney+ when that launches but we’ll have to see on that score. I want to see The Mandalorian!!) but yeah I’m watching all kinds of Disney stuff. I saw Toy Story the other night and wow it’s amazing how many jokes for adults there are.

So yeah I’m going to mark this as another “to be watched” movie 🙂

Hope I make someone laugh with this really stupid brain fail. Just goes to show that the brain doesn’t actually always read what things say it just reads a bit and fills in the blanks – silly brain!

Clearly I must be on a DC kick at the moment as I watched Justice League the other night.

I consider Man of Steel to be 2 hours of my life that I’m never getting back. I’m just grateful I was also doing the ironing at the time because geesh I really didn’t like that movie (I think I’ve talked about this before so moving on!).

Batman vs Superman I fast-forwarded through at least half of it. I watched the Wonder Woman scenes and a few others but yeah it didn’t hold my attention. Now I did like Wonder Woman. I have the DVD 🙂 I haven’t seen Aquaman yet and I think that covers it for the DC Universe?

Anyway! I did not fast-forward through any of Justice League. I actually found it very watchable. It moved at a good pace, characters were good. I was a bit confused over the plot because I didn’t really get who the bad guy was, or how he was “beam-me-up-Scotty” around the planet, or who he worked for (who was Mother?) and just generally yeah, I didn’t get how everything came to be about. Superman was dead and so the world fell into darkness? No I did not understand but I liked the movie well enough anyway.

I do wonder if this is what GA viewers feel like watching marvel movies? I don’t really know DC at all. I’ve always found marvel more interesting and enjoyable, so consequently I know more and maybe then I fill in gaps I didn’t know existed.

Apparently there’s an upcoming DC show called Batwoman. I have to be honest despite my love of gadgets I have never really liked Batman. I thought Bruce Wayne was alright in Justice League but the outfit is a bit much. If I can give the show a try then I probably will but /shrug it’s not exactly something I’m anticipating or anything.

Unlike Blood and Treasure which still doesn’t have a UK broadcaster /groan

Sorry I‘m obviously not done rambling.

I find it interesting the different take on the Superman mythology that I’m getting. For instance this “solar flare” burning out of powers thing – that never happened on Lois and Clark, not without prolonged kryptonite exposure anyway.

Also watching this is like six degrees of separation. Oooh there’s Piper from Agents of Shield. Oh that’s D’avin from Killjoys etc. Always funny when that happens.

James Olsen is such a good friend. There for Kara during her crisis of confidence. Also I really can’t believe Cat Grant is the inspiring voice, so weird after Lois and Clark, but then I guess it’s a different take like James Olsen. It makes this show stand on its own.

Although the one thing this show does have in common is how do they fit the capes under their clothes? It clearly doesn’t fit. Also how do they change back into civvies somewhere else because they aren’t carrying them?

Hmm I might have to take back what I said about Win as that comment about Kara’s romantic future was mean. It felt like it was to do with his own disappointment and he was lashing out because he liked Kara before he knew about her powers and now feels like he has no chance.

To get back to the costume James was like three floors up when he fell. Why didn’t Kara just grab him as he passed? Why fly out, change and fly back down again? That is just so extra.

OMG I did not see that coming as the explanation for Hank’s red eyes. His true form was unexpected. I had thought maybe he’d had a reaction to the kryptonite when he used it on Astra and that his red eyes were indicating he was under the influence of red kryptonite and kinda evil so I was way off base.

This show keeps surprising me.
