Painting Layers Bae: Now that you have met your father’s mysterious friend, what do you think of her?

image

Who’s Bae????

My name is Neal but I’m assuming that you mean me, seeing as you are asking about dad’s friend/neighbor Belle. I kinda already said how I felt about their relationship (link) but you want to know my opinion of just Belle?

I don’t know man, she seems nice enough but it’s clear she has some problems. I just came over to do her garden and beyond saying hi, it’s not like I really know her that well, just what dad has told me and what I can see for myself. To be honest I’m kinda worried about her.

I hope dad treats her right because if he thinks in three months he can just walk away *shakes head* I know he has it pretty bad, but I know how he is about work. This thing between them it might work now but it’s not likely to end well and … gah I don’t know … I don’t know whether to encourage it or not. It might be good for dad but it could be devastating for Belle.

Transposing Digits!Emma: How did your mommy and daddy react when you told them who your best friend was?

image

Mommy went really quiet and then said “that’s nice” over and over and over *insert child eye rolling*

image

Dad already knew because my dad runs the soccer club and Bae is his best player – next to me of course 🙂 *puffs out chest in pride* He grinned and told mommy that Bae is a “good kid” and then they went and did whispering (why do grown-ups do that?) and then mommy said we could call Bae’s papa and see if Bae could come and play.

#sorry, Ella #there’s only room for one Prince Charming on this show

I liked this bit. But shouldn’t it be Queen Snow by now, or am I missing something?

I’m guessing that she’s still ‘princess’ because Regina is still queen (evil and contained to her castle or not, she holds the title while alive?).

Well technically Regina was only Queen by marriage. If it was gender flipped, so married a queen, then the title would have been Prince. This is because traditionally King was seen as the more powerful role, so if the Queen was the ruler, there isn’t a king.

Therefore, the moment Leopold died, the kingdom passed to Snow, and she became Queen. It’s like “The king is dead, long live the queen.” Now her coronation might have taken a year or so to come about. Like how Queen Elizabeth became Queen on death of her father in 1952, but wasn’t crowned queen until 1953.

However, Regina framed Snow for the crimes of treason etc. and there was no other heir, so as the dowager Queen, she kept on ruling as like caretaker for the kingdom. Plus basically she had a ton of power, magic and her black knights, so nobody was going to argue.

Disney tends to get confused about how monarchies work. I love the Princess Diaries movies, but the end of the second movie makes me bang my head against the wall. Clarisse was queen by marriage (just like Regina), ruling as a regent until Mia was old enough, but they had her wearing the crown, and it being transferred to Mia.

So Snow is called Princess a) because they don’t know how the monarchy works or b) because it’s a fairytale thing I don’t know about or c) they thought it sounded better for some reason or d) some other reason I haven’t thought about.

6.03 – The Other Shoe (Review)

On my blog I entitled this weeks post ‘evil be thou good’ which I know comes from something creepy, and it probably doesn’t mean what I’m intending it to mean. However, ‘evil be thou good’ keeps popping into my head these days, because often it feels when watching Once Upon a Time that everything is flipped in reverse. The ‘evil characters’ are more good, than the ‘good’ ones.

Anyway spoilers under the cut.

Transposing Digits (Chapter Four)

Synopsis: The phone in the library had always been silent, until one day it started ringing. Belle French answers it and discovers that life really can turn on a dime – or in this case a wrong number.

Note: Have some fluff before the episode tonight 🙂 There’s definitely going to be another chapter or two, but the next thing I’m planning on posting is Chapter Five of Faith of the Heart, on Tuesday. Enjoy!

Gold was
sweating. All that could be heard was the clinking sound of the cutlery against
the plates. This was a disaster, it
was beyond awkward and Belle would never want to see him again. He swallowed
nervously, he knew he should break the silence and make conversation, but he
didn’t know what to say.

It felt
uncomfortably warm in the kitchen, perhaps because of the heat from the stove,
and he was grateful that he had shed his jacket and tie, undoing the top two
buttons of his shirt. Nobody aside from Bae and his doctor had seen him this
undressed in years, his suit was his armor but he didn’t think he needed that
with Belle.

Aww! All the adorable awkward babes. Holy crap that first part though, Gold with no jacket, no tied, and buttons undone is like practically naked! 😉

I’m glad Mary Margaret let Emma come over. Sad though that Belle had to be there. I mean Gold is obviously a good father, why wouldn’t he be good to Emma too. Ugh.

Heh thanks, I’m really pleased you are enjoying it 🙂 Yup I was going for the look Gold had at the beginning of ‘The Crocodile’. Actually I’m not sure now whether he had a tie on, or not, but he was at least just in a shirt (no jacket) when he stepped in from the garden.

With Mary Margaret I think she knows that Gold must be a good father, because she has spent time with Bae. However, all the rumors about him around town just make her uneasy. She probably rationalizes it to herself as “Bae is welcome here” and “Mr. Gold is a busy man, probably doesn’t want two children under foot” etc. and doesn’t even really realize how prejudiced she’s being. However, having a second adult (and a woman) around makes the situation look different.

I headcanon that David will probably apologize for the initial wariness at some point in the future. Gold will accept it because he loves his son, and wants to protect him so he understands why they did it. He’s probably slightly bitter that people think he’s someone they need to protect against, but there’s nothing he can do to change that.

How cute is this! Bae asking the important question made me laugh. Poor Bae, he must be imagining the horrors of being stuck with a stepmother IN PINK. Could there be something worse? lol

Not sure why MM called Gold’s house if she wasn’t going to let Emma have a playdate. Maybe she wanted to suggest they go to a public place or sth? Anyway, her reaction to Belle’s presence was too funny. I could almost hear her going from ‘Is this woman crazy??’ to ‘DATENIGHTWITHHUBBY!

LOL. And of course I love that they’re officially dating now. ADORABLE!

Mary Margaret called Gold’s house to arrange a playdate. However, she was originally going to invite Bae over to their house again, despite Emma’s wish to go over to the Gold’s house. Bae would have likely said something like “you should come to my house, the garden is awesome.”

Learning that Belle was dating Gold, changed Mary Margaret’s mind. That is why she said “well that changes things.” She’s still suspicious of Gold but that will change in time, once she actually gets to know him, as right now all she knows is the rumors that fly around town. Mary Margaret knows that it doesn’t quite add up, as Bae is such a lovely happy child, and having Belle as a chaperone just sealed the deal.

I’m really glad you liked it! 🙂

Decided to practice writing my NaNo daily pace today to see how it felt. It wasn’t easy and it’s going to be a real challenge to do it every single day for a month. I’ve learned from bitter experience that the marathon is so much harder than the sprint.

I learned some things to watch out for:

  • Writing stories I don’t care about that much is at least 3x as hard as writing something I enjoy. I can do it, it just takes longer. The procrastination demon gleefully loves the ‘meh’ stories and I really need to practice focusing. I waste so much time on this and it’s unnecessary and needs to stop.
  • It is way too easy to stop writing, when I reach a good stopping point like the end of a chapter. I need to find a way to push through that, and not waste a ton of time trying to convince myself to restart and write more.

Tomorrow I’m going to do this again but try a couple of different things:

  • When I reach the end of a chapter and start procrastinating (like I’m actually doing now), I’m going to swap to a different project, and see if that gets me going again any quicker.
  • On the meh stories I’m going to either take them scene by scene, and swap to something else in between. That way I only have to do small chunks in one go, which should be less boring and easier to knock out faster. Or if the scene is taking forever, I’ll just spend 20 minutes or something, and then switch.

Then on Monday – I’ll do it again!
Only I’ll have to work as well. Let’s see how that goes, when I don’t have all day to play with. I’m thinking it will be interesting to say the least. However, this is why I’m practicing and building it up. Today I’m finding out what my trouble points are, tomorrow I’m seeing if I can fix them, then Monday I put it into practice and then I’ll take it from there.

Naturally, I should at some point plan my actual projects for NaNo. However, there’s still a few weeks left, and I have a lot to finish writing this month before NaNo starts, so one thing at a time 🙂

Once Upon a Time Word Crawl

Another weekend is approaching

rumbellefitnessclub:

How’s everyone doing? I have done appalling at not drinking this week, but I went running yesterday, and I’ve been doing my fitness challenge app.

I also made a decision. Usually Mr Sprite gets up at six a.m. and makes me breakfast, and I lounge around until seven. I’m going to try and get up with him starting Monday. That way I can do my Fitness Challenge first thing before the day pummels me into submission. I’ll let you know my success :p

– Sprite –

Good luck! 🙂 I definitely recommend doing exercise first thing in the morning. That works for me, I wouldn’t do it otherwise. I get up and go to the gym when it opens at 7am, if I didn’t then I would never go because I would start my day and that would be that.

I’m still on week three of the Couch to 5k program. However, I’ve managed to do it several times now, so on Monday I’m going to try out week four and see how far I get. Swimming is going well. I’m doing over half a mile every session now. I don’t have the time to do anymore than that, so if I want to increase the distance there, I’ll need to work on my speed somehow.

I’m starting to notice a difference in the muscle tone on my legs which is nice. I’ve only just started doing a tiny bit of weights on my arms so there’s no change there yet. Man, this is such a game of patience and I am so impatient but you know one day 🙂
