#can you hear my heart shattering into a million pieces

Oh my heart

I have to reblog because that bottom right gif is too damn cute and pure for this world

This killed me on the show. The rabbit he made for her looked better and was made with love, but all he could see was that it wasn’t perfect and his heart ached for all that he couldn’t give her. His desperation led him to fall into Regina’s trap. While I understand why Regina did it, she was very cruel. I often wonder what happened after Jefferson and Grace were reunited in Storybrooke.

Transposing Digits (Chapter Three)

Synopsis: The phone in the library had always been silent, until one day it started ringing. Belle French answers it and discovers that life really can turn on a dime – or in this case a wrong number.

Note: It’s possible there might be two more chapters now. Part of it is that these chapters are 1k shorter than my usual ones. I try and keep all chapters a similar length and the original oneshot was even shorter than these chapters, if I’d done my regular length chapters they would have been twice as long as the original oneshot and that seemed odd. Another part is because I am rubbish at guesstimating length. Anyway, there will be more soon. Enjoy! 🙂

Gold was
starting to wish he had worn something other than his usual three-piece suit.
It wasn’t exactly the right outfit to wear for a picnic in the woods. However,
he supposed he hadn’t been planning a picnic in the woods. When Belle hadn’t
suggested somewhere for them to go, he’d blurted out the cabin as a possibility,
before he had adequately thought about it. The moment the words were out of his
mouth, he’d panicked in case she’d got the wrong idea but Belle hadn’t even let
him start recanting, just smiling and accepting.

Now, they were
here. He had Dove come up here frequently to check on the place, and give it a
once over, so he knew that everywhere was relatively clean. He’d had problems
in the past with kids breaking in, and using the place as a make-out spot, at
least he assumed it was teenagers. They’d never caught the offenders, but by
having Dove make frequent visits, it showed an interest in the cabin and the
break-ins had soon stopped. He opened the main door and Belle followed him
inside, looking around with obvious interest.

“I thought we
could eat on the terrace,” Gold suggested, gesturing towards the back of the
cabin, which opened out onto a small deck, and faced the lake.

I never would have guessed that about Gold’s past; but it goes to show what a stand up guy he really is. And I love Bae’s response to Belle coming over “ok.” Adults get worked up but kids look at everything so simply. Its already screaming floof family feels!

Thanks! Yeah I was a bit worried about that twist on the backstory that I invented. I thought that it suited this Gold and I’m glad you felt it was ok. Yup this is a family fic really. I really pleased you are enjoying it 🙂

rowofstars:

Nice twist with the backstory for Gold and Bae. I could see lots of future angst there, and it’s clear Gold still has a lot of self loathing and issues over the whole thing, despite having Bae. Belle is so easy going with the whole thing and with all of this, and Gold is an anxious puppy. I love it. <3

Future angst in my fluff fic? Perish the thought haha 🙂 No, I will go there if someone prompts it of course, but yes you are correct about Gold’s feelings on the matter. I mean it all contributes to his anxiety because this Gold has never successfully courted anyone, had a relationship or even really dated.

I think the mystery of “how do people find people to go out with” is one he never actually solved. I think he had a couple of flings when he was younger and working for other people, before he got together his seed money and started to build his property empire in Storybrooke.

However, it was always “Gold do me a solid, my girl needs someone for her friend, so come along tonight” and so it just sort of happened to him, rather than him seeking it out. Once he moved to Storybrooke, that stopped happening and so this thing with Belle is just like “I don’t know how this happened but I want to hold onto it if I can, but I don’t know how.”

Anyway, I’m really glad you are enjoying the fic 🙂

woodelf68:

Well, that’s one way to keep Milah out of the picture. I’ve never heard of a fridge that beeps if you leave the door open “too long”!

Yup, I usually go with the “ran off with a sailor” cliche but this came to mind instead, and it worked well for this story. As for the fridge thing – my fridge does that! It’s an American style fridge that we got at a mega discount. It’s quite fancy (has a water/ice dispenser and everything) but it does nag. I figured Gold would probably have something like that 🙂

Before Gold
knew it, it was Friday. When he had been in his shop, at times Friday had felt
like forever away. He would pass by the window and catch sight of the library
doors, or he would see the back of Belle as she walked down the street, her
chestnut curls whipping around her in the light breeze. Every day he was sure
that she would cancel, and he wanted Friday to arrive quickly before she could
change her mind. The one thing he was sure of, was that she wouldn’t just stand
him up, she wasn’t that cruel.

When Friday
morning dawned, Gold was just pouring milk on Bae’s cereal when the boy himself
entered the kitchen. Bae was sleepily rubbing his eyes, his hair sticking up all
over the place and making Gold itch to find a comb. Gold’s eyes flickered to
the clock, and he shook his head, as always they would be pushing it to get to
school on time. Bae was a terror in the mornings, he just didn’t want to get
out of bed. Merlin only knows what he would be like as a teenager.

Adorable! Non-icky indeed!

I’m really glad you liked it seeing as this was your prompt 🙂 Yeah I don’t actually know any kids, so I think I probably write them too sweet but it’s fluffy fic so I guess that’s ok. The next part will be up tomorrow!

My 10yr old told me just yesterday about her friend having a crush but she wasnt into that cus all boys were yukky. So I think youve got it spot on.
Im kind of hoping for a rating change and some transposing of digits behind the cabin.

Oh that’s good to know, thanks! I won’t ever do a rating change because that’s not fair to readers that start thinking it was one thing, and then it becomes something else. However, I’m not adverse to oneshots in the same verse should I get inspired in that direction. I’m glad you liked it 🙂

Hmm I think I might have lied. I said there would be one more chapter of Transposing Digits but I think there might be two. I wrote up a mini sort of plan after I got the prompts, to weave everything together, and I’m only working through that but it’s getting a lot longer than I thought it would.

Anyway, I don’t think anyone will complain if there are more chapters than expected. I’ll still be posting on Friday, so it’s all good. I just wish I had a better handle on guesstimating length 🙂

Aww! Gold being surprised Belle likes him always gets me. I can’t wait to see their cuteness at the cabin. (You are writing that aren’t you… because if not I’m going to come up with a prompt for it. I have needs.)

I’ve actually already written the date at the cabin 🙂 I wouldn’t have promised to post the next chapter on Friday if I wasn’t almost certain it would happen. It’s probably a lot less cute than you are imagining, but hopefully their second date will make up for that 🙂 Thanks so much for commenting. I’m really glad you are enjoying it!

leni-ba replied to your post:Transposing Digits Bae: Did you ever get your…

Awww! I love it when writers remember about the cabin. it’s such the perfect spot for a quiet picnic! *g* And, no, Bae, your dad definitely isn’t going out with an icky girl. lol

Can I repeat how adorable the kids’ friendship is? I love that it’s this happy thing in the background.

Lovely! (and good idea, Belle, to give yourself a bit of breathing room. heh)

tks for sharing. 🙂

Gold’s cabin is perfect for all sorts of things. I’ve had another prompt regarding Bae and Emma’s future playdate so it will be making a second appearance! Yeah this is kinda a blatant fluff verse, I make no apologies heh 🙂 I’m really glad you liked it, thanks so much!

Layers Neal: Sooo, how do you feel about your father’s friendship/relationship with Belle? I think they will be good for each other.

image

I’ve never seen him like this, it’s hilarious and nauseatingly sweet at the same time. I’m going to take every opportunity to tease him about it. I don’t really know how Belle feels, but dad has it bad, so I hope she feels the same or it’ll be all sad, and we don’t really do ‘emotional moments’ in this family. I swear though, if dad screws it up …

Layers Belle, I think you’re doing remarkably well. Before you know it, Gold’s home might be your own home away from home. :~)

I don’t know about that *blushes* besides the cottages are next door to one another, so it’s inevitable we’ll gravitate more towards one than the other. My home has everything we need – it certainly has enough tea! Nick seems to think that he needs to reciprocate the hospitality, but it’s not like I mind. He’s welcome any time.

*chews on thumbnail* we’ll have to see how it goes.

Painting Layers of Love (Chapter Five)

grace52373:

still-searching47:

Synopsis: Belle French lives alone and she likes it that way. She’s lived alone ever since the terrible car accident which killed her mother and claimed her eyesight. Belle spends her days painting, in complete solitude, until one day she wakes up and hears movement outside. Somebody has moved into the cottage next door. She had grown comfortable in her solitary existence until Mr Gold crashes into her life. Now her future is uncertain, like a blank canvas, waiting for her to apply the paint and decide what kind of story she is creating.

Note: Yeah sorry this didn’t happen for last Friday. This chapter was inspired by answering a question @rowofstars had about the fic, namely to do with Neal and Gold and their history. So thank you very much, that question helped me immensely 🙂

Warning: I probably should have put this on the other chapters as well. Deals with depression and anxiety.

It had taken
about ten minutes to wipe down the garden furniture. The spiderwebs, and
splattered dirt from the rain splashes, wiped away with a little bit of elbow
grease. It was good wood and cleaned easily. Once that was done Gold returned
to his cottage, it was time he called Neal back. Gold hit speed dial and
waited, his heart pounding with every ring. Perhaps Neal had gone out, and he
would have to try again later.

Talking with
Belle had helped him calm down and think about the situation more logically. He
still didn’t think that he had done anything wrong, was he supposed to let his
business suffer when he could prevent it? Sometimes emergencies happened, this
was real life, not a fairy tale. However, he was going to follow Belle’s
suggestion and be honest. Neal wasn’t generally unreasonable, and perhaps now
he’d had some time to calm down, he would listen and then they could resolve
this.

“What?” Neal
answered abruptly.

Gold winced at
Neal’s harsh tone, clearly he hadn’t calmed down. “Son, if you would just let
me explain …”

I am happy Neal and Gild reconciled. Neal and Gold really need to talk more.

Yup they do and they probably will at some point. Gold has had an impact on Belle’s life, but she’s going to have just as big an impact on his, just in a different way. I’m glad you are enjoying it 🙂 Thanks for commenting.

worryinglyinnocent:

Now this could either go very wrong or very right, and with the added pressure of Neal in the background *bites nails*. I’m working on the principle that everything’s going to be all right.

I love the way that this is unfolding! 🙂

Heh thanks 🙂 I’m really glad you are enjoying it. To be honest, I confess I don’t actually know whether it’s going to be all right or not yet. This is something of an experiment for me (I’m usually very much a planner). Anyway, I’m rooting for it to be alright, but it’s up to Belle what happens.

bookwormchocaholic:

Gold and Neal can’t see how much they are alike; so worried about each other that they neglect themselves. Like father, like son!

Don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but I love Belle’s and Neal’s introduction. That was so thoughtful of him.

Family is definitely the most important thing to both Gold and Neal. However, Neal doesn’t necessarily understand or believe that about his dad. I’m glad you liked the chapter! Thanks 🙂

beastlycheese:

Cleanse your aching Rumbelle heart with some layers of lovely words from still-searching24. It features (unusual for us ouat sufferers) the rare notion of Gold and Belle in the same place and talking. (AND NEAL IS ALIVE!)

Heh, I always make Neal live if at all possible because I can’t stop writing Gold as a father, plus I ship Swanfire. Although, this isn’t all that fluffy. Now what I’m writing right now, that is pure fluff, I’ll be posting it on Friday heh. Thank you for your kind words 🙂 I’m really pleased you are enjoying the fic!

rowofstars:

Yay Neal! I hope things get sorted out between them, and I hope Belle is okay going over to Gold’s… That could go badly.

You are sweet, reblogging here and commenting on AO3. Thank you so much! Yeah and Neal and Gold have their status quo back – for now. As for Belle … it could be good and a step forward for them or it could go horribly wrong. Either way, it’s progress of a sort because she’s agreed to go in the first place. Thanks again 🙂
