Painting Layers Belle: A sort of odd question, but how do you read your books? Do you prefer braille or audio books? Also, what is your favorite book?

I prefer braille if I can get it. There’s something about the feel of paper beneath my fingers, and the reassuring weight of the book. However, audio is more widely available, especially with digital books because even if an audio version isn’t available, there are programs that can read the text.

Asking a book lover what is their favorite book, is like asking someone to choose between dozens of things they love equally. All books are different, and they suit different moods. When I’m sad I like to re-read happy books, where nothing really bad happens and it all ends well.

The rest of the time my taste is fairly eclectic, I adore the classics of course, but all books are valid. I’ve just finished a sci-fi series where a group of people were stuck onboard a very old alien spaceship. Next on my ‘to read’ list is a fairytale adaptation crossing between their world, and modern day. It sounds fascinating.

#so it was hard to know what to say because no book titles really came to mind sorry#this was a hard question because I’m not Belle and I love to write but I’m not much of a reader these days (I know that’s bad)

Synopsis: The phone in the library had always been silent, until one day it started ringing. Belle French answers it and discovers that life really can turn on a dime – or in this case a wrong number.

Note: I’m not very good at sitting on fic and this is fluffy. I was going to post it tomorrow and sit on the last chapter of Faith of the Heart in case I couldn’t finish my Rumbelle is Hope thing. However, it looks like I will finish it so enjoy all the fluff! 🙂

David Nolan
whistled softly to himself as he slammed the door to his truck. He jogged up
the path to the pink Victorian that his daughters best friend called home. He
rang the bell and checked his watch, he was slightly late, due to
procrastinating on his paperwork at the station. David liked being sheriff, he
just didn’t like all the forms that went with it. A moment later the door was
opened by a young woman, the town librarian if he remembered correctly.

“I’m Emma’s
father, here to pick her up,” David said, giving the woman a curious look. “I
was expecting Mr. Gold.”

“Oh, Alistair’s
with the children.” the woman laughed, causing David’s eyebrows to raise at her
use of what must be Gold’s first name. She frowned at his obvious confusion.
“I’m Belle French, Alistair’s girlfriend, your
wife didn’t tell you to expect me?”

I *so* needed this! See what happened when they got rid of Bae? Everything would be all right if Neal (Sr.) were still around!

Well seeing as I can barely go a chapter, let alone an entire story, without mentioning Bae/Neal – 110% yes! He was so damn important.

In my opinion, without Bae there would be no show, or at least not as we know it, because there would have been no dark curse. Rumple’s quest to find him kickstarted everything. I think I have one AU fic where there is no Bae, it’s hard not to write him. Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed the fic, and that seven year old Bae made everything right in the end heh 🙂

Pony rides? I suppose perhaps if a circus came to town, I can’t think how that would happen … actually there’s the stables isn’t there? So yeah I guess if Bae wanted riding lessons or something. Hmm ok, I will file this prompt away and get to it when I can 🙂

*hugs fic* This is such a great series! I love David trusting his own eyes more than he does gossip, and how he gently makes sure that MM realizes she’s been wrong (can we have this in canon?)

Emma was a treasure! I’ll never get tired of seeing a version of her as a child where she’s loved and has a family. *hugs lil’ Emma*

And, yay, family time at the cabin! And of course Gold knows it’s too soon to their the L-word around, so I’m glad bae pushed his dad in the right direction anyway. LOL bonus points for Belle for showing the kids how to bait their hooks. Bet that will be the thing they’ll delight in telling their classmates! “We took these worms and…” Yeah. lol Tks for the update!

Oh wow thank you so much, I’m really glad you like it 🙂 To be honest that is how I see canon David, except in the last couple of seasons he hasn’t spoken up, instead just following Snow – downside of sharing a heart perhaps? I don’t know, I hadn’t really thought about that before. Hmm.

Anyway, yeah I imagine the gross worms will be the high point of the day heh and yup if it wasn’t for Bae, Gold would probably still be thinking it was “too soon” months later. He is continually surprised by Belle because he is just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and for her to leave him, but instead she’s right there with him for every step forward. Gold is always expecting rejection and getting the opposite from Belle 🙂

You know what, I always have this paranoia that I’m going to forget something in my review and this time I did.

It’s an all important question really – do we know yet whether Robert Carlyle will be growing out his hair or will he be keeping it short?

He’d kinda let it grow out quite shaggy before he cut it or Trainspotting, so if it grows out then it would be more early season one Rush/season one Gold length. How long does it take for hair to grow? I know mine grows fast so I can’t really use that as a guide, but then I joke all my height went into growing my hair. If we get a seventh season it could be early Rush length by then maybe, I’m not sure.

Priorities, you know 🙂

6.04 – Strange Case (Review)

I haven’t read any tumblr posts on this episode yet, and in all honesty I’m a little scared to see peoples reactions. I have to confess my immediate reaction to the episode wasn’t exactly what I would call favorable, because on the surface it really looks kinda bad. However, this is what headcanon was made to deal with.

I’m tempted to write a fix-it fic because I can think of a way to explain it and turn it positive. I don’t think it was as bad as it sounds. However, having written it all out here in theory form, I’m not sure I can be bothered to write the fic – ooops. Anyway, here’s my rambling thoughts on this episode.

Hows everyone doing?

I’ve been really, really lacking in focus for the past few weeks, and not looking after myself at all. I think it was stressing over waiting for my exam results. Now that’s all over I had a couple of days when my energy levels were at rock bottom, but I’m feeling better today. Went for a run this morning and it felt great!

In my last post I said I was going to move onto week 4 of the Couch to 5k program. Well, I haven’t quite managed to make the leap. Week 3 is 2x “Jog 1.5 mins, walk 1.5 mins. Jog 3 mins, walk 3 mins.” and Week 4 is 2x “Jog 3 mins, walk 1.5 mins. Jog 5 mins, walk 2.5 mins.”

What I’ve managed to do is “Jog 3 mins, walk 1.5 mins. Jog 3 mins, walk 2.5 mins. Jog 3 mins, walk 1.5 mins” which means my walking time is what it should be, but I haven’t managed to break the 3 min barrier. I’m also missing the last part, as by the time I’ve done 3x “Jog 3 mins”, I just don’t have it in me to go again.

I’m not entirely sure whether to keep going with the 3 mins, and try to do 4x that first. Or whether it would be better to try and increase the 3 mins up to 5 mins first, and worry about doing more repetitions later. I suppose I’ll see what I can manage next week. If I feel like I can push on past 3 mins then I’ll do that, or I’ll try and add on a 4th jogging round at the end even if it’s only for 1.5 mins or something, it’ll still be a tiny bit of progress.

Just me, but if 3 mins is a block for you, I’d say try to push past it.

When it comes to jogging everything is a block for me haha. I am useless at it but yes I will try 🙂 Thanks for the advice!

I suppose back in August when I started this, jogging for just a minute at a time was difficult. So maybe I’ll tell myself I just need to do an extra 30 seconds or something at a time, and see how that goes. It’s a bit like with writing. Just a tiny little bit more doesn’t seem like a big deal but then it adds up.

I was planning on posting this final chapter of Faith of the Heart on Tuesday. I have one scene left to write and then it’s done. However, it is so damn fluffy I’m wondering if I shouldn’t wait a few days and post it for Rumbelle is Hope. I’ve got something else in mind to post for that but I’m not sure I’ll finish it in time. Maybe I’ll hang onto the chapter, until I’m sure that I’ll have it finished, because I would be sad if I had nothing to post for the event.

Anyway, I’m so relieved to soon be able to scratch one fic off my list. October is going to be the month of finishing things I’ve decided. By the time November gets here, I want my only WIP to be Painting Layers of Love. Everything that has been lingering for months, is going to be done this month. I need less on my list. I know it’s bad when I can’t sleep because I’m running through the list in my head.

So with that in mind, I’m going to go re-order my list. Normal service will be resuming at some point (I hope) but right now all I’m willing to guarantee is that there will be fic of some description on Tuesday. I haven’t missed posting on a Tuesday in months and I’m not about to start now.

I have planned the smut one. I did that the day the prompts came out and I’ve been itching to write it ever since, but I have a priority list for what I work on. As I don’t post this until the end of the month I have to write other fics first (like my wips), otherwise my update schedule gets thrown out of whack.

I have a vague idea (so vague it keeps changing on me every time I think about it) for the non-smut one and it’s possible I won’t write it. I’ll have to see if I have time and feel like it. So many fics, so little time 🙂

I finished my fic for Rumbelle Revelry!

It might possibly be a little bit long but the 10k maximum was only a guideline right? Oh well, I’m not cutting it, and it’s only 3k over the limit, which yes is 30% but that’s within a semi-reasonable margin … and I’m going to go hide now.

Tomorrow should be a Painting Layers of Love update day. I was late with the last update which is why it was on the Tuesday before last. However, I’m going to be late with this one as well. In fact I probably won’t even make Tuesday, it’s more likely to be next Friday but at least I didn’t make any promises about chapter six, which makes the delay slightly more permissible.

I feel vaguely guilty about it but I really would like to finish at least one WIP, so it’s not weighing on my mind anymore. My list for this month is still looking intimidatingly long. Therefore the final chapter of Faith of the Heart will hopefully be happening for Tuesday. I have the first bit done already, I think there are 3-4 more scenes left.

Synopsis: Following directly on from The War Within. Rumplestiltskin and Belle have a lot to talk about. True loves kiss might have woken Belle from the sleeping curse but their marriage won’t be fixed over night. They have a little less than nine months to sort themselves out as a couple – then they’ll become a family. It’s time for them to reconcile properly, and to finally have the courtship that circumstances originally denied them.

Note: I think this chapter should have a warning notice for extreme fluff. Also, part of this chapter was inspired by a prompt fic I did ages ago. It fit this story nicely, and I probably wouldn’t have written it otherwise. There will be one more chapter after this one. Enjoy! 🙂

Three Months Later…

was content. It was an odd feeling for him, but one he was fast becoming more
familiar with. Just over three months ago, and he would argue over thirty years
in the making, he and Belle had finally shared true loves kiss. It had woken
Belle from her sleeping curse, and had been the start of their reconciliation.
In the weeks that had followed, they had talked a lot, finally putting all
their issues on the table. However, no amount of talking could fix their
marriage, only time could do that.

There had been
arguments, and he had despaired on occasion whether their marriage could be
fixed. They had rehashed the same conversations, and slowly over time the trust
that had been shattered between them had mended. The night that Belle had taken
him by the hand, and asked him to come to bed, was the magic moment when he had
known that everything would work out. Up until then, they had been living in
the house separately. After that night, they were truly back together as a couple
and sharing everything.

Hearing Rumpel recite the history of their ‘courtship’ sure is depressing, isn’t it? Man, this show. *shakes head* It’s too bad that they named Ashley’s kid Alexandra, because I would have liked Alexander for a boy, with Zander as his nickname, because it’s a bit more unusual, as befitting the son of Rumpelstiltskin. 

Yeah Alexander is a good strong name, with a lot of variations for shortening and for being a bit ‘different’ but yup unfortunately taken. Their relationship has certainly been a bumpy ride but in this fic at least, they are getting some happy peaceful time now 🙂
