I just saw a Tony Stark gifset from Homecoming and it made me think. Just take the initial Avengers:
– Steve, R&R and then works for Shield, so basically full-time Avenger
– Natasha, Agent of Shield, so full-time Avenger
– Clint, Agent of Shield … you can see where I’m going with this?
– Thor, prince of Asgard, charged with protecting the realms, so full-time hero
– Bruce, drifting as a volunteer until Stark got him into candyland (aka R&D)
– Tony, inventor, major role in public relations for Stark Industries even if he’s not the CEO, charity events, personal appearances to grease the wheels of contracts – he’s a business guy AND an Avenger.
Peter has to juggle being Spiderman with school but Doctor Strange is a full-time guardian of the sanctum. The Guardians of the Galaxy take jobs trading off their guardian status. T’Challa is King as well as protector of Wakanda. Sam (Falcon) works alongside Steve, as does Wanda. Vision is a full-time Avenger etc.
I guess my point is how few (if any) of the fellow “Earth’s mightiest heroes” can understand the pressure Tony is under juggling a full-time job along with protecting the world AND trying to have some semblance of a personal life.
I’m screaming in case you couldn’t tell. Just saw the new Ant-Man and the Wasp promo poster and trailer, thought to myself the villain looks familiar

Alright Hannah John-Karmen but eeeeek she is so amazing in Killjoys and now she’s going to be on the big screen and I’m feeling very hyped for it. Somebody remind me rooting for the bad guys is wrong…
I’m also very tired. I didn’t notice as I was spellbound but that movie is hella long. Went for the 7pm showing and just got home at 11!
So consider this the non-spoiler review. Basically I was leaning forward the entire movie, eyes wide, jaw-dropped going “ahhhhhhhhh what’s happening? What’s going to happen? Ahhhhhh” – in my head obviously as I have learned from the first Avengers movie not to voice out loud.
It’s a must-see. There were a couple of head scratchers and a couple of disappointments but considering how ambitious it was – massive cast – I think it was done superbly well. They pulled the rabbit out of the hat so to speak.
Seriously epic big temper tantrum!!! I just can’t freaking believe it!

There has been one constant with Dark Matter, the season finales have been fast-paced, heart-stopping, face-clutching and leave me screaming at the TV because urk I need to know what’s going to happen so bad!!!!
I knew that the show had been cancelled and there was no season four since last autumn. I knew that the show ended on a cliffhanger.
I DID NOT KNOW IT ENDED ON THIS BIG OF A CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!
Seriously?!?!?! How could they do this? How? How? How?
This aired last August so no spoilers when I ask:
– How do they get the alien out of Two?
– Is Three going to be ok with alt!Portia? What is alt!Boone going to say?
– How many ships did Ryo lose? Is Teku dead?
– How do they get the alien out of Two?
– Is Six dead?
– Given Alicia Reynaud knew Five’s real name, is she such a monster not to realise the obvious approach? Aka “I’m the adopted mother of your sister let me help you” kinda thing. What kind of mother to Five’s sister will that have made her if it didn’t even occur to her?
– How old is Two’s kid? Who is Krydon? How did Two know she could trust them?
– Does alt!Portia want to go back to her reality for her kid? That would explain why they kept going after the blink drive. Could lead to bonding between her and Three because Three has a big heart (though he tries to hide it).
– Is Six dead?
– Oh let’s not forget the big alien ships that invaded aka The Black Ships, which doesn’t sound menacing at all
– What universe/reality do these aliens come from?
But leaving aside all the cliffhangers … the seriously big question is if there had been a Season Four because they crossed over with Stargate as was proposed how the hell would that have worked?????
Ben & Jerry’s make some dairy-free icecream!!!! Ben & Jerry’s the well-known icecream brand that normal people can have! Make dairy free options! Tesco sells it! Online not sure about in store – I could totally drive to Tesco’s right now and find out – but, but argh this is so cool!!!!
I will forever associate Ben & Jerry’s with Miss Congeniality. From memory the scene went like this:
Hart: “Hey Mike give me a pint”
Bartender: “You sure you want a whole one.”
Hart: “oh yeah hit me big time baby. I’m going to get chip faced”
And then he puts down a pint of Ben & Jerry’s icecream. That movie had a ton of problems which I saw once I got older (side note: @worryinglyinnocent did a Swanfire, Rumbelle fic of the movie fixing the issues as well, excellent fic go read!) erm what was I saying?
Oh yeah it’s just as a teenager I thought Hart was kickass. “I’m wearing a dress, I have gel in my hair, I haven’t slept all night and I’m armed – don’t mess with me!” and so to be able to have something so normal, something that a childhood icon had…
I have feelings ok.
UPDATE!
I bankrupted myself (seriously how damn expensive is that icecream?) and just had a taste-test session.
Chocolate Fudge Brownie: Verdict = meh. It’s chocolate but not the best fake!choc icecream I’ve had. Maybe I didn’t dig deep enough but it wasn’t really all that flavourful. It’s edible but definitely a one-off purchase.
Chunky Monkey: Verdict = oddly addictive. My first mouthful I was like “ok tastes like banana and these chunks are really hard, can I chew without breaking my teeth?” and I was feeling a bit meh about it … and then my spoon kept going back in the tub. I don’t know what it is, there’s nothing about it that I would usually like and yet – well oddly addictive.
Peanut Butter and Cookies: Verdict = yum! By far the best of the three. I had to limit myself to two spoonfuls as this was supposed to be a tasting session (not an eating session) but it’s seriously nice. Not nice in a weird way like the Chunky Monkey (I still can’t work out why that’s more-ish as it shouldn’t be, I don’t even like banana) but just super tasty. It really does taste like what it says on the box but in smooth icecream form. Thumbs-up!
So TLDR. If you want to bankrupt yourself and can’t eat regular icecream (but want to be like everyone else) then Sam’s recommendation is the Peanut Butter and Cookies flavour. YMMV obviously heh as taste is subjective but that’s what I felt anyway 🙂
I’ve established that I really need to become rich, because I can’t waste time working when there’s so much I want to learn how to do (and courses require time and money). I’ve just added a bunch of things to my “to do” list, and so far I have: learn Spanish, learn French, get some serious English certification, possibly learn Italian Sign Language, learn how to make an app, learn how to draw, fencing, dubbing, become a professional pastry chef, all while I’m also taking singing lessons and I’m on my way to getting a degree in a scientific field (which may or may not be a bit of an issue, because I love science but I’ve discovered that working in a lab scares me).
I see a few problems in this.

Quality does vary but you know how you get tutorial videos on YouTube? Well it’s like that only most of them are by professionals so they are really good. All of them are included in membership so if you don’t like one, just move onto the next.
I have about 30 courses bookmarked at the moment that I want to do. Best part is something I haven’t used yet which is the community resources. You are set a class project and you can post it and get feedback from other students and quite often the lecturer. It’s good to see what other people can produce from following the lessons and it’s a real confidence shot to think “if they did that then so can I”.
There’s no certificates, it’s not official, it’s just about learning what you want, when you want and entirely at your own pace.
Fair warning though it’s a little bit addictive. There’s so much on there I want to learn I keep *cough* *whistles innocently* erm well my actual ‘to do’ tasks might be suffering a bit.
We moved beginning of 2015 and pretty much if the phone rang it was a call for us. Since then there has been the occasional cold-caller but not regularly, not been a big deal which was a huge relief
BECAUSE
at the old house I swear to you the phone rang pretty much every hour of the fucking day with a cold-caller. We are on the telephone preference list – we shouldn’t be getting unsolicited calls – bah like any company actually pays attention that grrrrrr!
Cue today and the reason for the rant. I’ve had 4 calls today! 4! I had 2 yesterday. THIS. IS. NOT. FUNNY.
Seriously very pissed off right now. It must be a recent thing so who the hell has got our number recently and sold it on. If I find out I swear … well I’ll do nothing because I’m a huge coward but ahhhhhh *screams*

I’ve considered canceling my home phone to avoid this… the US Do Not Call registry doesn’t protect us from the foreign folks… maybe that’s a problem for you too. My phone company called (maybe or it was spam) left me a message asking me to pay more to ditch the foreign spam callers, I have done nothing… but thankfully, not answering the phone has actually helped the problem. I check messages, but they stop calling after a while if you don’t answer.
Awww thank you so much for your empathy. Thankfully I haven’t had anymore calls since my rant so I’ve calmed down a bit. Unfortunately my mother uses the phone for work so not answering or cancelling isn’t an option :/ now if I lived on my own then definitely! I hate talking on the phone anyway.
