OK, rewatched the Rumbelle scenes and I have questions.

I found this line of Belle’s intriguing:

Our child will better off waiting with me than being in debt to you.

Why would the baby be in debt to Rumple? The only thing I can think of is for waking Belle & baby up, but that doesn’t really click for me. Why would Belle speak of their baby being in debt to its father?

Also…when Belle woke up, she referred to their son playing the part of Morpheus to warn her. At NO point during the scene where Morpheus is talking to Belle, did anyone mention his name. So how did she know he was Morpheus?

Rumple’s transition from imp!Rumplestiltskin to Mr. Gold happened between these lines:

Belle: Wha– What’s going on?

Morpheus: Oh, I think you know…Mother.

I’m sure that timing was very deliberate, but I can’t figure out the significance of it right now. Anyone else want to chime in?

Yes! I wondered about that debt line too, it doesn’t make sense to me. And also how did she know he was ‘playing at being Morpheus’? Even if his name was mentioned, how would she know whether he was the real Morpheus somehow or just someone else ‘playing’ at being the god of dreams? Maybe a line was cut in editing?

I get the feeling a lot was cut in editing. I was the episodes could be 3x as long heh 🙂 They certainly have the material and that way all characters could have the time they needed.

Our child will better off waiting with me than being in debt to you. – This line is quite nonsensical because “waiting with me” means remaining in the sleeping curse, never getting born or growing up. To be honest this is one of the big red flags for me that suggest there was far more going on in that scene.

I’m coming more to the opinion that it wasn’t Belle’s dreamscape – it was Rumples and the Belle in it wasn’t Belle at all, but a conjured version as part of the dream. We only have ‘Morpheus’ word that they were sharing a dreamscape, what if they each had one of their own? Rumple gets to see his biggest fears play out, Belle obviously saw something similar. Only in that Rumple was probably emphasizing her worst fears, and maybe she got more assurance/proof which is why she believed it so much.

In the scene, she accepted that Morpheus was her son without any questioning really. I know that there was ‘true loves kiss’ but there was no distinctive flash and so I don’t think it really was. Hyde sent Rumple there, just as he sent Emma chasing after a red bird to find an oracle. He’s playing games and don’t all villains want to manipulate the dark one?

I don’t think Morpheus was their child. Perhaps he took on the image but I’m certain that was a lie, so as to better emotionally manipulate them both. Belle wants to do what is best for her child – for her childs future, so a warning from her child would be hard to ignore.

Switch back imp to Gold
In regards to the switch back from imp to Mr Gold. I think it was Morpheus trying to prove that it had all been a “cruel trick” as even his appearance had deceived her. It was yet another lie – playing along in her dreamscape (supposedly) and just more proof that nothing Rumple ever did could be trusted.

thatravenclawbitch:

So I’ve seen a bit of the spoilers from the episode and we were right that…

1. Morpheus is the Rumbaby
2. Rumbelle had a dream TLK
3. Morpheus TLK’d Belle awake
4. Emma’s big secret is that she’s gonna die

So, not bad at figuring out the master storytellers ™, guys.

Obviously I haven’t seen the episode so maybe this is addressed and I haven’t seen it, but why does Rumbaby hate Rumple? Can one week old fetuses hate (or love) anything? They are not cognizant. They are not capable of any thought much less complex emotion. He wasn’t actually like from the future or anything, was he? He just projected himself because it was his and Belle’s shared dream state? Also, since Rumbaby too was technically under the sleeping curse how did he wake Belle up? Can’t two cursed people not break each others curses or is that just fanon? But seriously, why does he hate Rumple already? Like Rumple has made some shitty choices in life, but he tried really hard to be a good dad. Bae’s last words were literally “I love you Papa”. So what’s this all about?

It wasn’t addressed, or at least I don’t think it was, but then it is only episode one. Personally, I don’t think we know enough to answer those questions with anything than theories but I’m always happy to theorize 🙂

Personally I’m not even convinced that was the Rumbaby. There was no distinctive flash for the true loves kiss, so I’m not convinced it was TLK. Plus, I don’t see how the baby could be ‘aware’ enough at this stage of development to even have an immature lashout based on Belle’s half of the story. I think someone might be playing games but we’ll find out I guess 🙂

The promo pictures for next week seem to suggest that Belle isn’t in the dreamworld anymore (that was one of my theories, that maybe her ‘waking up’ was actually a fakeout). I also wasn’t convinced that was Belle’s dreamscape, I thought it might be Rumples because of his cage and other reasons.

However, assuming that everything was real. I’m guessing that Rumbaby hates Rumple because he only has Belle’s half of the story – he’s getting his feelings from her and right now she is reeling. She decided to give Rumple another chance after the events of 4A (when they spent the night together) but they never resolved any of their issues.

Then she got hit with the series of revelations (pregnant, dark one again, Hades has a contract on the baby) and she stumbled around acting on instinct and fear. Went into the sleeping curse and now she’s overreacting. She wants to do what is best for her baby, for the babies future and what could be a bigger cosmic sign than actually hearing a warning from the baby. I’m more surprised Belle just believed it straight away but then she has always been quite reckless, impulsive and ruled by her emotions.

I don’t blame her one bit for her feelings. Rumple and Belle’s relationship is a mess but they both played a part in that, and I support them both. Personally I believe that this show arc is all about a journey towards self-acceptance. It’s playing out graphically for Regina vs the Evil Queen but all characters have that internal conflict. Belle needs some time but I have faith that all will be well in the end, it is after all only episode one 🙂

Plus, Rumple was very adamant about how much he loved Belle and their child, so his motivations are very clear and absolutely stated. So I’m not at all worried about where he stands. Family has always been his goal.

I have to admit though that the waking up scene felt rushed. To be honest I’m wondering if there is going to be a deleted/extended scene from that. It felt like that there was more that was said but not shown, might just have been me though.

Synopsis: The phone in the library had always been silent, until one day it started ringing. Belle French answers it and discovers that life really can turn on a dime – or in this case a wrong number.

Note: Written for @a-monthly-rumbelling in September. The prompt was Wrong Number. This is just a silly fic based on the first thing I thought of when I read that phrase. You see the ‘wrong number’ part of this fic actually happened to me, and I can’t think of wrong numbers and not think of that incident.

It’s a very, very cliche non-magical Storybrooke but I hope you enjoy anyway! I’m posting this a little early as an apology for not having finished the next chapter of Faith of the Heart. I hope everyone enjoys the premiere tonight! 🙂

Belle French
hummed lightly under her breath as she danced around the empty library, tidying
up what few books weren’t already neatly shelved. It was the middle of the
afternoon and the library was empty, as usual. School had just finished for the
day, and sometimes she got a few children visiting on their way home.
Unfortunately, they were few and far between.

Not even the
older students came in for research anymore, preferring to do all their fact
checking online. With her budget shrinking every year, Belle could see that the
library might well close in just a few years. However, she didn’t like to think
about that. She would deal with that if and when it happened, and not let it
suck the joy out of her job until then.

Suddenly the
quiet of the library was disturbed by the shrill ringing of the telephone.
Belle blinked, she actually thought that might be the first time she’d heard
that phone ring. She supposed she now at least knew it worked but she couldn’t
fathom who might be calling. Swiftly Belle moved over to the desk and picked up
the phone.

So cute! I love awkward Gold, so surprised anyone wants to talk to him.

Thanks! I don’t know if I could write Gold as anything other than awkward, I might have to try self-confident Gold some day. Maybe pair him with Lacey or something heh, it would be a good challenge 🙂

bookwormchocaholic:

These two are adorkable! By chance will we see more of this verse? 😉

Thanks! I have no plans of my own with this verse at the moment but all my verses are open to prompts. If you would like to see more, next TMI Tuesday (or whenever I suppose) send me a prompt 🙂 I’m glad you liked it!

Awww. Gold taking the initiative to ask Belle on a date, how wonderful! And sure, he’s pessimistic about it, but I’m confident Belle will eventually change his mind.

I lol’ed at Mary Margaret complaining about manners. Heh. Poor Belle! But since the wrong number call started her on the path to Gold, she’ll probably be thanking MM and Emma in the future.

Really sweet. Tks for sharing!

I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I think Gold was a little bit shocked at himself. Mind you I think it was the shock of Belle that had him permanently stunned and acting on instinct, sort of a constant happy daze of “how did we get here?” “I don’t know but wow, must hold onto this for as long as I can!” type deal 🙂

Mmm yeah can you imagine if Mary Margaret corrects the number and calls Gold’s house but Belle answers? “Yes I am the same person that picked up last time.” “Last time was a wrong number but this time it’s not.” “Well actually I suppose I should be thanking you for that!”

anneelliotscat replied to your post:Transposing Digits

Bae gave Emma the wrong number on purpose, didn’t he? He *wants* his dad and the nice librarian (who probably visits the school) to get together!

I hadn’t thought of that interpretation! I do like it 🙂 Matchmaker Bae is always so sweet!

Although while Bae could know Belle, and like her, I have to admit I don’t think matchmaking would necessarily occur to him at his age, not unless he saw his dad and Belle together. However, you could certainly be right that Bae gave Emma the number but I think the wrong number business has to be an honest mistake. I don’t quite know how Bae would have known to swap the 1 and the 2, as it’s not like the library number would be written down anywhere.

I had thought that Mary Margaret copied the number herself from school records, which is why she was so convinced she was right and argued with Belle. Which would also mean she’d know that Bae was Gold’s son already, meaning despite Gold’s anxiety the playdate would happen. Although obviously if she was asking about his mother she didn’t read the file very carefully.

Thank you so much for your comment! I’m really glad you enjoyed the fic 🙂

The Queen is Back

Once Upon a Time returned last night and I saw the episode today … don’t ask me how. I will watch on Netflix on Wednesday as well, because I don’t want netflix to believe that they shouldn’t add it. Anyway, I avoided tumblr, so I wasn’t spoiled beyond normal set spoilers/promos. I still haven’t gone on tumblr so I don’t know what other people thought but I bet it wasn’t very charitable.

I said a few times when blogging season five that it felt like I’d slipped into an alternate dimension where nothing made sense. I couldn’t fathom why characters were acting in certain ways because it didn’t fit with who they had been established to be in the earlier seasons. I had the last few months to think everything over, and to establish headcanons which explained away all the inconsistencies of season five.

Well, the premiere blew those carefully crafted headcanons out of the water so I’m going to have to begin again. It’s no matter, I live for this kind of thing 🙂

Right spoilers under the cut for season six, episode one.

You know I love writing long rambling blog posts about things. It purges all my thoughts and lets me think about other stuff again. However, I always have this nagging worry at the back of my mind, that I’ve forgotten to add something important.

Sometimes I think I’ve said something, but actually I wasn’t that coherent about it. Which doesn’t matter so much if I’m blogging for me but *sweats* I just posted my review for everyone to read.

Ah well, if I missed something or wasn’t clear and somebody has questions. My ask box is always open 🙂

6.01 – The Savior (Review)

image

I’m admitting to nothing *shifty looks* but … I might have seen the episode now thanks to someone very kind in the fandom.

*rubs hands together* oh man that was incredible. Where do I start? I did warn you guys I would be blogging the episode. This is over 4k of me going on a bit because it’s the premiere and I had a lot to say. I have split it into sections, so if you are only interested in say Rumbelle, you can skip everything else.

Full disclosure, I’m positive about almost everything but I’m not Hook or Zelena’s biggest fan, nor am I that enamored with how they are presenting CaptainSwan. I don’t think there’s any real character bashing though.

Oh and I don’t know about you guys but I’m not worried at all. I enjoyed the episode immensely and I will be watching again on Wednesday. Half because I pick up new details on a second viewing, but also because I don’t want Netflix to think they don’t need to add it because they definitely do.

Right there’s all the details in the world about Season Six, Episode One under the cut, so if you haven’t seen it yet, be warned 🙂

Season 6 hasn’t been added to Netflix UK. I have to confess I’m kinda annoyed because so many sites reported it would be Monday and I got my hopes up. I’m all disappointed now hence the gif I chose to head this post. Anyway, it appears it’s going to be Wednesday after all 🙁

I will not be reading my feed until after I have seen the episode. So I would really appreciate it if you would consider this request. If you post something cool – art, fic, graphics etc. then please, please, please reblog at the end of the week. It’s not that I (or anyone else in my position) doesn’t care. It’s just that personally I want to be able to watch the episode, and form my own opinions, without being spoiled for every single detail.

I will still be posting fic, doing TMI Tuesday and replying to messages but please if you message me, or write on one of my posts, don’t go into detail about the previous Sunday’s episode until after Wednesday. I don’t want to know details heh.

I was too tired to write yesterday. I didn’t promise, but I implied there might be a new chapter of Faith of the Heart today. However, there won’t be because I have zero words written on it and I have to work today. While I could write the entire chapter this evening I would rather only write half of it, and write the other half tomorrow and post Tuesday. It’s less stressful that way.

To give me motivation I’m going to make myself finish the chapter tomorrow before I can watch the premiere. I want to watch it so badly, hopefully that will kill the procrastination demon for the evening 🙂

Urk I can’t wait! Netflix better not have been lying about when they were adding the episode.

Faith of the Heart (Chapter Two)

woodelf68:

still-searching47:

Synopsis: Following directly on from The War Within. Rumplestiltskin and Belle have a lot to talk about. True loves kiss might have woken Belle from the sleeping curse but their marriage won’t be fixed over night. They have a little less than nine months to sort themselves out as a couple – then they’ll become a family. It’s time for them to reconcile properly, and to finally have the courtship that circumstances originally denied them.

Note: This is turning into a proper sequel to The War Within, that wasn’t the intention at all. I had in my notes two oneshots, one for reconciliation and one sweet fluffy fic where they could talk baby names and stuff like that. I really am awful at guesstimating length haha. Anyway, enjoy! 🙂

Belle lingered
at the foot of the stairs. Just a few feet separated her from the kitchen but
she couldn’t quite bring herself to walk the distance. Yesterday morning, for
the first time ever she’d had an honest conversation with her husband. She
chewed on her lip, thinking about it, and she had to acknowledge that wasn’t
quite accurate. Rumplestiltskin had been honest in the underworld, she just
hadn’t wanted to hear it at the time.

In truth she
wasn’t sure she wanted to hear it now. She wanted more than anything to
reconcile with her husband, and to build the kind of relationship they had
never actually had – a happy one. Even in the early days of their marriage,
when she had been blissfully ignorant of all his lies, there had been a small
voice at the back of her mind which had whispered that things weren’t right.

She had ignored
it, as she had wanted everything to be alright more than she wanted to deal
with the reality. Given her revelation about how she had formed a rose-tinted
picture of their past together, that seemed to be something of a pattern with
her. Anyway, given how badly she wanted to ‘make it work’, she should be eager
to do whatever it took in order for that to happen.

Instead she was
engaging in pointless avoidance and she didn’t really understand why. It wasn’t
like her to be a coward, and shy away from things that were difficult or
painful. ‘Do the brave thing and bravery will
follow’
had been her motto all her life. Now when she needed her courage
for what mattered the most, it was deserting her.

Moe is AWFUL. I can’t believe Belle defended Snow and the others, though!

Exactly what Belle thinks about Snow and the others is developed more in chapter three 🙂 As for Moe, that is briefly mentioned in chapter three, but I’ll probably develop that more in chapter four or a subsequent chapter. I’m glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for commenting 🙂
