If it wasn’t for tumblr I’d never have dared watch the Mummy as I’m a wimpy wuss. I don’t do horror films and all the marketing I had seen suggested ahhhh scary.
Anyway it isn’t terrifying, certainly no worse than Pirates of the Caribbean and I watched that. I tend to look away during any really gross bits BUT my point is if I hadn’t watched it then I would never have seen the truth that tumblr used to sell me on the movie.
Evie and Rick are goals
Watching the Mummy Returns and Evie grabbing that sword and kicking butt, and then in the museum, when they shot their way out together.
This is what I said yesterday, established couple solving their problems together. Alternately the tumblr gif quote of “the couple that slays together stays together” 🙂
Watching Lego Masters and if I was a gazillionaire I would totally create a build room like that. Look at all those bricks! There’s like a wall full of shelves and containers and ahhhh I’m in love.
But beyond the bricks this show is sweet. There is a team of 9-year-olds competing and I keep going “awwww babies”. There’s a couple of family teams (father/son, mother/son, uncle/nephew) etc. and the kids are just awww-worthy. They are so clever!
Awww and the teams are helping one another now – I love that! They might be competing but they still help. I swear though if any of these kids cry then I’ll cry with them. They are trying so hard bless them.
But yeah that build room and all those bricks. Wow!
@sarashouldbestudying are you a mind reader? Just yesterday I was contemplating making a page for my blog so I could gush over my ships. I didn’t in the end because I figured that would turn into gushing over shows generally and that it would get long and boring with me just going “ahhhh I love it!” a lot 🙂 *rolls eyes at self*
Anyway this is the excuse I’ve been looking for *cracks knuckles* and just like you, I’m going to stick to one per show or I’d go over five. Although … maybe not? There are different levels of ships or more accurately levels of obsession on my part.
Rumbelle (Rumple and Belle, Once Upon a Time)
^^ the moment I started shipping them, especially with how awkward they were afterwards! I mean Rumbelle is just a given on this list right? Over 500k on AO3 says I have a *cough* minor obsession. It’s just there’s so many layers, and variations, and incarnations, and it’s still all just them because true love.
Evlynn (Flynn and Eve, The Librarians)
My latest obsession, oh merlin they are perfect. She’s tough, no nonsense and organized. He’s a little crazy, reckless and absolutely definitely doesn’t need her help. They clash as she wants to plan and he just dives in but they accept each other. It’s like ying and yang, two halves that separately struggle but combined are unstoppable. Librarian and guardian. I’m not doing them justice. I think Charlene said it best in the very first episode with “you’re perfect” because yeah, the chemistry is off the charts.
“I love you more than learning itself.” “Kissing you is exactly how I’d want to spend eternity” and lets not forget “there you are” as they true loves kiss twice in one episode.

Fitzsimmons (Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, Agents of Shield)
The perfect embodiment of best friends to lovers, who are still best friends and don’t forget that because they are also in love. It was a slow journey as Fitz loved Jemma first, and Jemma just had him in the ‘best friends box’ and it took a season for her to think actually I have always loved him, he will always be my best friend but he could be more. That transition was believable and then they went through the true love test.
I’m talking constant, painful separations but they always find each other. They dove through a hole in the universe for each other. Fitz literally to another planet, and Jemma into a virtual world. Nothing, not time, not space, can keep them apart. They are stronger together.
Jack and Irina, Alias
I don’t talk about them much because Alias ended what back in 2005? But I rumbelled their relationship in Between Two Fires. Basically KGB agent Irina Derevko went undercover to seduce CIA agent Jack Bristow so she could spy on him longterm. The one thing she didn’t count on – falling in love with him.
It ended badly of course. She faked her own death as an extraction but twenty years later despite everything he still loved her too. It was painful, there was no possible happy ending really because too much had happened. They worked against each other more often than they worked together but that bond of love never went away.
Jefferlynn (Jefferson and Lynn, Black Lightning)
Divorced, still friends, co-parents and very much in love. They separated because it was a bit like there were three people in the relationship. Jefferson, Jefferson’s hero work and Lynn. It wasn’t that Lynn didn’t want to share, it was that she was scared. He came back hurt and she thought it was going too far. He started off going after big targets in Freeland, doing what the police couldn’t, but then he didn’t stop and it took over.
It’s one of those relationships where they are both right and they are both wrong. It’s about fear more than anything and that’s not always logical. Lynn was scared of losing him so she walked away. It’s really well done and nuanced on the show. They could have turned Lynn into a villain but they didn’t. They fleshed it out showing that everything she did came from a place of love.
Does anyone else sometimes randomly remember specific episodes of a TV show and get this urge to watch them? Like not do a complete rewatch and follow the show storyline but just watch that one, specific, episode?
Recently I got nostalgic and watched a bit of Rosemary and Thyme. It’s not the best show in the world (think Midsomer Murders in terms of body count) and I’m sure it has lots of other problems BUT…
how many shows focus on two ‘older’ women (in terms of TV standards anyway) and their friendship. I just think that’s nice.
Plus I still laugh every single time at the scene in 1×02 when Rosemary is in the study and she gets shot at.
– calls up the stairs “Laura we’re being shot at!”
– she runs out into the hall
– turns the light on
– throws the door open and steps outside
“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING? YOU’VE ONLY GONE AND BROKEN THE BLOODY WINDOW!!!”
– Laura grabs her, drags her back inside and turns the light off
It’s probably much funnier to watch than to describe heh 🙂 I wonder if it’s on YouTube…

They had an underwater aerial battle. This is so ridiculous I love it!
The visual effects are so silly. Why are trashy films sometimes so seriously entertaining?
I wonder if the sequel is in any good. It doesn’t have Rachel Nichols in it but it does have Adrienne Palacki (Bobbi Morse in Agents of Shield) so hmm…
I like trying new TV every so often. I got a 14 day trial of NowTV because it’s free and I like free. Yesterday I tried the MacGyver reboot and it was very CBS aka *nose wrinkle* I just tried Elementry and that was better but I wasn’t grabbed. I still have Blindspot to try later but…
Legends of Tomorrow. So thoughts:
– it’s DC Ant-Man
– is that both brothers from Prison Break? Weird if so them teaming up in another role. The erm I forget his name, the one with all the tattoos? I didn’t even watch that show. Anyway his voice in this is strange.
– DC Human Torch
– I’m thinking my dislike of Arrow is going to be a problem if I like it because I’m not understanding a fair bit.
– Gideon with a female voice? Interesting.
– I hope he re-cloaked the ship. Ooops no he didn’t.
Ok who cleaned up the puke?
– the Hawkguy and Hawkgirl Egyptian god thing is cool but confusing and I really want to know how they suit up.
– I hope the bar fight didn’t cause temporal issues though the guy that started it deserved it.
– interesting I figured with Kronos murderous ways he was a bad guy but I guess more neutral evil.
– the TimeMasters sound like the Jedi.
– shouldn’t somebody be healing the professor/son of gods?

Well it grabbed me enough to watch another one but I’m a long way from being sure. I love Black Lightning (seriously love it, that show is amazing) but I haven’t got on with any other DC show. Well I didn’t like Arrow or Gotham. I haven’t seen The Flash, are there others? Anyway all the shared universe references are confusing me.
Basically what I like:
– the winged immortal Egyptian god people
– Victor Garber’s character
and I doubt that’ll be enough but I am a sucker for spaceships, phasers and pop culture references so we’ll see 🙂
I know Black Lightning is DC but I was wondering earlier what Lynn would say if it was in the MCU and so the Sokovia Accords were a thing. When Jefferson wasn’t using his powers then it was a non-issue but once “Black Lightning is back” happened then uh-oh.
In case anyone wonders why I’m rambling about this. I’m holding a “virtual write-in” for my region for Camp NaNo this evening. I set it for 7-9pm tonight because there had been some real-world write-ins last November then so I thought it might be a good time. I said to tell me if it wasn’t and nobody said anything.
An hour in and nobody has shown up yet. I can’t do anything because I have to refresh the page every couple of minutes so I’m just marking time by fishing in Warcraft and writing this in between fishes.

Instant streaming video is the best invention ever.
Agents of Shield (Season 4) is on Amazon Prime – so I can rewatch it for free! It’s not Season 5 but it’s something, especially as there’s no news regarding a UK DVD release date for Season 4.
Even better Killjoys (Season 3) is also available! Not for free but the DVD isn’t out anywhere until April, and I’m not expecting it on Netflix for another 6 months at least. I can finally catch up to the US!
These are my two favorite currently airing shows right now *pats Stargate gently, you’ll always be my forever favorite* so good news everyone heh 🙂
Plus I barely have time to watch TV these days so I’ll be able to savour each episode and make it last. Which reminds me I still have Dark Matter (Season 3) that I got for christmas to watch. It’s a pretty ok time to be a sci-fi fan!
