I am getting so fed up of Channel 4 not airing Agents of Shield Season 5.

You have the rights to it – air it!

Honestly this is why people pirate. Making them wait months and months in a global connected world is ridiculous. I mean I don’t pirate a) because I don’t know how and b) I’m too afraid of getting caught but man the frustration is real. I just want to watch!

There are all these amazing gifsets on my dash and I try and blacklist for spoilers because I don’t want every little detail spoiled before I can watch BUT quite rightly fans don’t consider things spoilers after a few weeks. It’s impossible to avoid unless I avoid the entire fandom and I don’t want to do that. I love this show and I want to have it on my dash and in my life.

Sorry for the rant. I know it’s a silly thing to get irritated about, it is after all just a TV show, but ugh I had to vent somewhere. Silly or not, it’s really bugging me.

As a side note it’s the same with Killjoys. Season 3 aired last summer, but netflix UK won’t put it up until this summer probably – a whole years delay. I could list many more examples but those are the two that I really care about right now. /grumbles it’s not like it has to come over by steamship /grumbles.

6 Movies I’ll Always Watch

@theoneandonlylittlebird thanks for the tag! 🙂

Ordinarily I would do gifs but I’m on the iPad and that isn’t very tumblr friendly.

1) The Princess Diaries – my ultimate feelgood movie, no clue why I love it so much but I’ve watched it so many times I can practically quote the whole thing. It’s just made of happy things.

2) Fools Gold – I just love the visuals, the yacht and the ocean and it’s a fun caper movie and again it’s like a feelgood thing. I just flat out enjoy it.

3) Sister Act – some movies age well and this is one of the timeless ones. The wardrobe and hair styles might date it but Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith are just so watchable that I’m drawn in every time.

4) Marvel Movies – yeah, yeah I know it’s a series and not a particular movie but to be honest pick any one and I would always be willing to sit and watch it. They are enjoyable and especially as a series there is always something that appeals. It’s like they are all ‘superhero’ movies but they cover genres as well and plus they have that kind of banter comedy I love where they don’t take themselves that seriously.

5) Sherlock Holmes – I watched both of these twice in a week recently and wasn’t bothered at all. Robert Downey Jr. is just incredible and they are such stylistic movies. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the third one will eventually come out of development hell because *grabby hands*

6) Star Trek Reboot Movies – unpopular opinion this one but I just love Karl Urban as Bones, and Simon Pegg as Scotty, and the Spock/Uhura romance. I loved how they made the reboot work within universe as an alternate timeline and had Leonard Nimoy appear. I know this has a lot of critics but I enjoy it.

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

Jack Malone and Samantha Spade – Without a Trace

Oh the fanfic I wrote. I was deep into this fandom. It was my first fandom. I ran a fansite, I made up music lists (complete with art for CD covers), I did fanart generally with wallpapers and icons and stuff(it was early 2000′s it’s what people did). I wrote countless metas. I screencapped episodes and uploaded galleries as a resource. Oh I made fanmixes where I interspersed dialogue with music, I also made actual fan videos. If it was a fan thing, you name it then I did it. Ah can’t forget the fanlistings! I never was lucky enough to run the actual relationship one but I grabbed whatever I could get e.g. key episodes.

So yeah I really was very deep into this. Then I fell out of love with the show. I don’t know if they had a change in writers, showrunners, or just a change in direction. I adored the first two seasons and season three was ok but season four? It was like watching people pretending they were playing the characters I’d come to know and love. It just didn’t feel right.

Basically I quit the show. I stayed on the edges of the fandom for a long time afterwards, finishing up fanfics etc. but I closed down a lot of what I was doing. That was less to do with the show/pairing and more to do with where my life was at. I was 16, I was graduating high school, I wanted to write more original fiction. That was basically the start of when I got out of fandom. I was out for about ten years before Rumbelle pulled me back in.

In answer to your question, no they aren’t my favorite anymore. Rumbelle has that honor! Do I still ship them? Well it’s been a very long time since I’ve even watched the show (I’m getting nostalgic now, I might have to pull out my DVD’s) but I can’t see why I wouldn’t still ship them. I’m not active but I haven’t forgotten why I fell hard and fast for this pairing.

TMI: Ask Me Things?

Your RCIJ is on my to-read list; can’t wait to get started on it. So, I’m going to have to wait until next week to ask about it. Anyway, I’m going to have to ask you something else for TMI. Is there a movie, TV show, or novel that reminds you of Rumbelle? (other than Beauty and the Beast). :~)

image

Sorry I know I shouldn’t laugh. It’s just that’s a really awesome question and it’s also incredibly funny. I see Rumbelle everywhere, in everything! I swear sometimes I could probably Rumbelle anything. I try not to think on it too hard because the plot bunnies wind up multiplying exponentially but oops happens quite often anyway 🙂

Anyway, the amazingly talented and wonderful @worryinglyinnocent was my RCIJ Santa. The prompt I gave them was for a movie AU – No Reservations. That movie just screamed Rumbelle to me and while I’m still only three chapters into their fic (damn obligations, I want to read and not be busy!) it’s an absolutely incredible adaptation. Go, read, enjoy! It’ll be great I know it!

I’d be here all day if I listed off everything that ever reminded me of Rumbelle. Unlike the example I gave above, which was absolutely perfect in pretty much every way, most things are only partly perfect. Which unfortunately makes the plot bunnies even worse. I can see the changes I’d make which would then be perfect Rumbelle and oops. Rumbelle, rumbelle, everywhere heh.

The Walking Dead

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?: Just the title I’m afraid is enough for me to run a million miles in the opposite direction. I’m a big coward about stuff like that. It’s just really not my thing at all. I’m loads better than I used to be, ten years ago and I wouldn’t have been able to stomach watching a lot of the sci-fi I absolutely love now. However, I think that ‘walking dead’ is a step too far – or actually who knows? Like I just said ten years ago and the goa’uld on stargate would have creeped me out, maybe in another ten years I’ll be able to manage the walking dead 🙂

Ask Me? TV Series or Movie

Grimm

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?: From reading the synopsis I should like Grimm. Someone I know in real life recommended it to me given my love of Once Upon a Time. I tried it ages ago, probably around the same time I tried Chuck. I went through a slew of shows testing them out to see what I’d like. I confess I didn’t make it through the first episode of Grimm. I’m not entirely sure now (in other words I don’t remember) what made me go “nope don’t like you” so quickly, because I do generally try and give things a fair shake. There was obviously something though or I wouldn’t have responded like that. Sorry!

TV Series: Chuck

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?: This was on netflix, so free for me to watch. It’s the same story as with Lucifer really. I didn’t find anything objectionable about Chuck, it’s just nothing about it grabbed me either. It was ok. I watched the first few episodes and just decided I didn’t want to invest my time. I get more enjoyment out of rewatching the shows I love.
