It was brilliant!
Mr. Gold let us have popcorn AND we got to stay up late! Bae and I had plans for sweets at midnight but we were watching the second movie and … then it was the morning 🙁 but, but, but mommy says Bae can sleepover maybe one night thanksgiving weekend, she just has to talk to his papa. So sweets then! 🙂
I’ll handle this question if you don’t mind. I told Bae not to think on the incident any further, he was very upset. Thank you for your concern, I am feeling much better. Belle was very kind and … well that’s none of your business.
By the time I was recovered Mary Margaret Nolan had already investigated the matter, and discovered which of the older children had been spreading tales about ‘mischief night’. Apparently they were quite apologetic by the time she was through with them, and I consider the matter closed.
They were only thoughtless children after all, who didn’t think about the consequences. I have spoken to Bae about how he should think for himself, and not blindly follow others. Hopefully, if he is told to do such idiotic things in future he will think twice.
Synopsis: Set in The Right Wrong Number verse. Belle and Gold have been together for a few months when Halloween approaches. After some pumpkin carving goes wrong, and Gold is injured, they work together to ensure that Bae’s spooky sleepover goes ahead as planned.
Note: Written for @a-monthly-rumbelling in October. The prompt was Mr. Gold Loses His Cane. I also used part of a prompt from @anneelliotscat which was along the lines of “Sleepover! Halloween! Practical jokes!” they did specify some actual practical jokes but I just couldn’t visualize Bae or Emma being that naughty on purpose, so I hope this suffices.
Gold surveyed
the disaster zone that used to resemble a kitchen and winced. Belle laughed at
his expression and he raised his eyebrow at her, before his lips twitched and
he smiled as well. His girlfriend looked right at home, both she and the
kitchen were liberally covered in pumpkin pulp. Halloween was fast approaching
and they had just spent the last couple of hours with Bae and Emma carving Jack
O’ Lanterns. Belle looked oddly victorious, but then she had got rather
competitive with her pumpkin. It was very artistic, and quite impressive,
nothing like the jagged face he’d managed with his.“You sweetheart
are a mess,” Gold murmured.Belle held up
her gooey hands and an evil grin flashed across her face, she stepped forward
to hug him. He tried to evade but he was pinned against the cabinets. She
wrapped her arms round him and pressed up against him, wiping the pulp onto his
shirt. Gold pretended to scowl, and was about to object, when she pressed her
lips against his and he forgot everything but how incredible she felt in his
arms.I missed this and it is so sweet…

Aw, this was the sweetest thing! I love how both Belle and Gold did their best so Bae didn’t need to feel all guilty, and I think my fav non-Rumbelle part was David helping Gold into the house. We need more friendship scenes between those two. 🙂

And awww, all the Rumbelle feels here. Gold being at his weakest, at least physically, and fearing that this would be what’d finally push Belle away, while Belle only wants to help and is having dreams of ‘forever’. awwwww
Yeah if I’d had more time then I might have explored Gold’s insecurities and Belle’s reaction to them, and more about their relationship. To be honest I’m still deciding precisely what I want to do with this verse and how far I want to take it. Right now it’s a fluff family verse but there’s more to explore should I feel so inclined.
Yup Gold does have nothing to worry about. He doesn’t know it, but he and Belle are very much of like mind about their feelings for one another. They both want the same thing – forever. I’m really glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Thank you.

So much Gold family fluff! I love the kiddos, David being a non-judgmental bro, loopy out of it Gold (*snort* I bet he said interesting things that night huh?), Belle fussing over him, all the hurt/comfort. CUTENESS OVERLOAD!! But that tiny touch of angst, Gold doubting himself, hating himself because Belle might resent having to take care of him OH MY GOD. My poor baby. 🙁
Oh you are making me wonder what Gold said now, I hadn’t really thought about that heh – oh the missed opportunities 🙂 Yup there is definite angst potential if I decide to explore it. Right now this is family fluff but I could expand it to include dealing with the relationship issues, as opposed to side-stepping it and saying that happened off-screen. This is very much a prompt verse so what happens depends on what people want to see 🙂

I really can’t see Bae smashing a pumpkin just because some kids at school said they had to. Maybe if some older kids had actually been there, bullying them, Emma might have risen to a dare, but otherwise…why? Why were they supposed to smash their pumpkins? (Sorry to nitpick, but having some Bad Teens – like that troublemaker Peter Pan and his gang! – being the pumpkin smashers would have made a lot more sense to me.) Also, Gold really shouldn’t have been moved at all if he was in that much pain, but I probably would have been just as desperate to avoid the hospital. At least Belle called Whale. A hard crack on the head like that would very likely cause concussion. I felt Gold’s desperation to get off the couch so keenly, but he should thank his lucky stars that’s he’s a man and can simply pee in a bottle! The best line of the whole thing was Bae veering away from Emma with the succint comment “No brain.” XD The other night I realised that I love junior Swanfire so much because not only do I like the thought of Bae and Emma having been childhood friends who eventually become much more when they get older, but it gives Emma the happy childhood that she never had in canon.
And did they ever carve at least one new pumpkin before Halloween?

Yeah you are probably right on both counts. I did think when I was writing it that I was overdoing the description of Gold’s pain/injuries. I probably should have rewritten that section and toned it down a bit. As for the smashing pumpkins, I don’t know much about kids, and I was just going off old memories and the fact that kid logic doesn’t always made sense.
When I was 11 I went on the school bus and for a couple of stops, we picked up a few primary school kids. My classmates would teach them swear words and give them things to do so that they would “be cool” and then the next day the kid would get back on the bus and be all huffy for a day or two because they’d got in trouble. Then the cycle would start again because the “cool older high school kids” were paying attention to them. The older kids scoff and go “oh yeah everybody does it” and so it’s not so much a dare, as a “you are a complete loser because you didn’t even know” and so in kid logic, then have to do the thing because want to fit in.
Smashing pumpkins is actually a thing, part of mischief night and a real problem in some places. I googled Halloween specific practical jokes and that came up. However, you are right, it doesn’t really make sense. Yeah junior swanfire is sweet, I’m glad you liked it 🙂 As for more pumpkin carving? I don’t think so unfortunately, there likely wouldn’t have been time. Perhaps that was their punishment for not thinking before they acted.

1) The Princess Diaries
This is so not my kind of movie, yet whenever I’m not feeling well, or I’m upset I watch it. I’m practically word perfect now I’ve seen it that many times.
2) The Avengers/Marvel Movies
I know, bit of a cheat listing the franchise, but there’s always one of them I fancy watching. I was going to just say the first Avengers movie, but I had to stop it yesterday and take a nap halfway through, so I felt maybe that disqualified it. I was having a duvet day, I didn’t feel well.
3) Fool’s Gold
Ok gifsearch didn’t kick back an actual gif of the movie, but there is this amazing yacht in it and they go treasure hunting. It’s very shiny and did I mention the boat?
4) Star Trek
Again cheating slightly because three movies fall under that umbrella, quite frankly I wish there were more. I do like movies, but they are so limited. Once I’ve watched a movie half a dozen times or more, that’s it – that’s all there is. Whereas with TV, there’s usually loads more episodes, so there’s more to rewatch and it has greater scope.
I’m stuck
Like I just said, I prefer TV to movies generally, so while there are a lot of movies I enjoy and love, picking “6 to watch anytime” is a bit difficult. For the most part while I like them, I have to be in the mood for them. So I could list National Treasure, Fast and the Furious etc. but they are just movies I like, not ones I could probably sit down and watch no matter what.
I have a cold and feel like death warmed up, so I’ll be brief. I didn’t even take my usual notes when watching. Spoilers under the cut.
I’m really starting to wish I’d asked if I could post my Revelry fic on Tuesday so I wouldn’t have to have something else finished to post. The fic I was going to post I decided really needed looking over by someone else. There isn’t time for me to finish it and beg politely for help, so I need to write something else.
I think even though it’s early and might not be allowed, I’m going to have to post a monthly rumbelling fic. I sent in a question asking whether it was allowed to post before the end of the month or not and I really hope the answer is yes. It is the one fic I have on my list that I stand a chance of finishing for Tuesday.
You know that panic that I said in my last post hadn’t set in yet? Yeah I think it just kicked in. I am soooo not ready for the end of the month urk.

I explored a little bit of this in my alternate seasons six fanfic. Ultimately it comes down to three things in my opinion – consequences, continuity and expectations.

I wasn’t going to write today (see previous post for my epic levels of procrastination) but then I suddenly realized I don’t have anything to post on Tuesday and panicked. I must post fic of some description on Tuesdays, it’s a thing heh 🙂
Anyway, a fic that has been lingering for months (I know eeek) is now mostly finished. I just need to write an argument (I suck at those so right now it’s just INSERT ARGUMENT), finish alternate ending one, and then write alternate ending two. I don’t usually do alternate endings but this fic needed the option. You’ll understand why when I post it.
I had … a lot of things on my list for October *whistles* but a few days ago I went over the list and made it slightly more reasonable. I now have 13 items on it, and I’ve done 8 of them. So I’m a bit behind, but not so badly behind that panic needs to set in just yet.
