No in all seriousness I have big plans but in the interests of being vaguely sensible I’m testing whether I can follow through with them first. Did I need to make this post to tell you nothing? No, but I love that GotG gif and couldn’t resist heh 🙂
Stay tuned, if you get fic later then you’re going to be getting a lot more fic! My writing willpower has gone on an unscheduled vacation *rubs hands together* here’s hoping that this will bring it home.
The monthly rumbelling prompts just went up, it’s like Christmas! You know maybe this is why my productivity was zero yesterday. I never can concentrate when I’m waiting for something, it’s a really big character flaw of mine.
Anyway, April is going to be mega crazy, I have so many ideas already. Nothing yet for March, a couple of the words are throwing me off. Which leaves this month! I have a premise for the smut prompt, I just need to decide on what variation of rumbelle/anyelle I want to do, which would then determine the tone e.g. soft and loving, or more comedy etc.
Non-smut is more problematic because I have issues with the dagger, and what’s gone down with it on the show. This could get very angsty, very fast and to be honest I don’t really enjoy angst. I like fixing things, not breaking them. I’ll have to think about it. The phrasing and the word ‘takes’ conjures up a divisive scenario but I could ignore the meaning and just go with the ‘letter’ of the prompt. It could be a challenge to turn something with so much angst potential, into something fluffy, or I could just skip the non-smut prompt this month. Like I said, I’ll have to think about it 🙂
I’m in the same boat, but I’ve managed to get away with skirting the prompts in the past (case in point – the Cave of Wonders series… which I am very pleased to be able to continue in forthcoming prompts!)
I think the whole point of @a-monthly-rumbelling is for everyone to interpret the prompts in their own way, and if for some of us that means skirting them and just going by the letter, then that’s the way we have interpreted the prompt. It’s not a competition and it’s not a gift exchange, this is just something we do for fun and for a challenge.
Yup! That’s very true and yay more Cave of Wonders! That is a great verse 🙂 I have some ideas percolating now I’ve sort of “freed” myself from canon/angst. Actually I have two ideas now (dammit brain). One is a continuation of Full Circle from last month, set a few years down the line and probably very fluffy. The other is set in the wish!verse from 6×10, well actually I have two ideas for the wish!verse. Ok stop it brain! This is getting more out of control by the second. Sheesh.

I had big plans for January and basically epic failure. Thanks to a lot of random prompts I managed a last minute bump to get up to about ½ of my normal monthly word count. In fact I haven’t written this little in a month since June of last year and I’m not at all happy about it. January is the start of the year, so much for starting as I mean to go on. Anyway, I can’t change it so there’s no point in dwelling. The priority, for the upcoming month as always, is to finish my WIP’s. There’s so much more I want to write but I always finish what I start.
Endangered Slug posted a February Prompt Challenge which is a fantastic idea, but utterly terrible for me because I don’t know when to stop. Those random ficlets I did have spawned three new WIP’s. I really don’t need anymore ideas. I’m booked up and know what I’m writing practically for the next five years already. So I’m going to change the challenge a little bit. In the challenge post it said – “The goal is to write something – anything – every day for the month of February.” – and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to pretend like it’s November and I need to get my digital pixel badge.
Hopefully February can be the month of finishing things. That would be nice 🙂

“Killian get the … lady,” Regina sneered. “Her drink.”

18) Are you a ‘neatly designed outline’ writer or a ‘fuck it i’ll figure it out as i go’ writer?
Depends on the project. I used to say that for novel length projects I needed to have a scene by scene outline, and that I could only fly by the seat of my pants for short stories. That isn’t exactly true these days. I’ve kinda let go of the outline process when it comes to fanfic, and I just write and see what happens. Sometimes I like this because it means no delay with the writing – I can just dive straight in. Also it makes it easier to include prompts because the development is more fluid.
The rest of the time I hate it because I stare at the blinking cursor, and I have no idea what comes next, but by this point I’m usually committed to the story because I’ve started posting it. Also, outlines are a serious advantage on low motivation days because it means less thinking is required. I know exactly what I’m doing, so it’s just a matter of beating myself around the head until I do it. That doesn’t always work of course. Sometimes I know exactly what I’m writing and the focus just isn’t there anyway, a little bit like right now.
Under My Skin Belle: How goes the writing? I bet your cute Scottish neighbor could give you some inspiration if you need any. Especially if you’re writing a steamy love scene. ::wink, wink::
Oh I don’t write erotica, well I do but I don’t publish it, and I definitely don’t write anyone I know in real life into my books. You do have a point though, maybe that’s why I’ve suddenly found Lachlan so fascinating, I can tell he has a story. As for the writing *snorts* Lachlan is more of a distraction than an inspiration there. Not that I can bring myself to mind…
Aww, I love it when these two are friends, and they sound so comfortable around each other! *hugs ficlets* Love it when Princess Belle teases him about being ‘her hero’… though I suspect there’s more truth in that than what either can admit. Heh.
I love it when they are friends as well. I haven’t got the timeline properly ironed out so I’m not sure how long they’ve been friends but I’m definitely thinking a few years. He was assigned to Belle’s protection when she went travelling (and they got in some adventures along the way) so yeah I think he’s saved her, and she’s also saved him. Then after her father died, things changed. She was now the heir to the throne and had to return home.

Haha I did say after I posted the first ficlet that the mutual pining would be legendary, and that’s why this fic screamed to be written. Rumple rose to be a senior knight because of his ability, unlike someone like Gaston who was born to that position. In the eyes of the kingdom he’ll forever be a lowly knight and therefore not a worthy consort for the queen and he knows it – they both do.
Duty before love has stopped them from admitting their feelings. I think Belle knows Rumple loves her, but Rumple doesn’t believe that Belle could love him. He’s convinced himself that Belle just thinks of him as a good friend, and her protector, and that she’s Belle and nice to everyone.

As a Male reader of your fics I’m sure you don’t get many Male readers as like 98 percent of fandom and fiction writers/readers are female , I just want to Thankyou for writing Cora. I absolutely love Cora and I appreciate people who write her well , respect her character and don’t bias write as I find most the female fandom hates Cora
Oh wow, thank you so much anon. To be honest I’ve never really given much thought to the demographic of my readers, I’m still stunned and exceedingly grateful that I have readers at all. Personally I have no idea what fandoms feelings are towards Cora. I haven’t come across any Cora-hate myself, but then I do tend to steer clear of character hate altogether. To be honest I don’t really hate any character. I think they all have a lot of potential and would be interesting to explore via various storylines.
I find Cora particularly fascinating and there’s so much about her that they left unexplored. In many ways I wish they hadn’t killed her off. Imagine Cora left behind in Storybrooke, when the gang went to Neverland to save Henry. Imagine them returning to find Cora had taken over the place – “my daughter is the mayor, and you can’t leave a town without leadership.” – and due to Cora’s heart-taking ability, they wouldn’t be certain who was acting of their own volition or not.
Cora was awesome really. She had that understated class I love in an antagonist. She would work via manipulation, make people doubt that she was doing anything bad at all, sow seeds of doubt and dissent. Cora was smart. She changed her status from miller’s daughter to princess and in a class system that’s huge. I don’t know if you’ve seen Alias anon, but Cora reminds me a bit of one of the Derevko sisters. They were incredible characters.
Anyway, I’m going on a bit so I’ll shut up now 🙂

Heh I already answered the question of the OC’s identity here but your theory is interesting. It makes me wonder what if Regina did have a brother? How would Cora have been different with a son? She very much lived vicariously through Regina, pushing Regina to be queen and to live the life that Cora had wanted for herself.
Would Cora have put the same pressure on a son? Irrespective of Cora, what would having a sibling have changed in Regina? It’s an interesting question. Anyway, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I’m glad you liked it! 🙂
