G: What was your first fandom?
*cringes* ok I was 11 and had just started high school. I liked hanging out in the library, and eventually volunteered as a student librarian. The senior student librarian was writing fanfic for this new spin-off show called The Royal. It had spun-off from Heartbeat, which was basically a British institution for a really long time, though I think it’s been cancelled now.

Anyway, they asked me to beta read and edit their fic for them. I liked having a sort-of friend, and so I wound up writing my own fic as well. It was a show I watched with my family, and while I didn’t care that much about it, I liked being a part of something. The older student created a fansite/forum for the show on the internet, and that attracted fans. It was actually amazing when I think about it now, how popular and active it was.

So yeah, The Royal/Heartbeat was my first fandom, and it kinda happened accidentally. I was a part of it for a year or so before I got iced out. I was too young really to be part of the “leadership”, the other student was 4 years older than me and as I was 11 that was quite significant. They appointed other mods without discussing it, and one of those mods really didn’t like me. Looking back now, I didn’t help myself but I was only 11. This other mod was 30 and the names they called me were quite appalling to be honest. That wasn’t a nice way to treat anyone, let alone someone you knew was just a kid.

By then I had moved on to other fandoms but I was still quite shaken at the time. However, now 15 years later, it’s just a distant memory and it’s hard to recall the details. The part I cringe the most about is the awful fanfic, but thankfully I think the worst of it is no longer floating around the internet. Seriously, I know I was 11 but that writing was very, very bad.

F: What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it?

My memory is shocking but looking at the fanfic I wrote, probably about 4 years, though I was definitely more active at times than others. It feels like a lifetime ago and it was very different from the fandom experience I’m having now with the Rumbelle fandom.

I guess it was a different time, we’re talking 10 years ago. I was a lot younger, I don’t think tumblr was a thing. It was all fansites, fanforums, livejournal and fanfiction.net back then, for me at least. Anyway, I’m going beyond the scope of the question sorry and I still haven’t named the fandom. It was – Without a Trace. I shipped Jack and Sam.

I’m not sure how many seasons the show ran for in the end because I stopped watching after the fourth season. I felt like the characterization had gone out the window, and the characters had almost turned into parody versions of themselves. I stuck around in fandom for a while after that because I did love the show and the pairing, but seeing as they didn’t even get a happy ending, I’m kinda pleased I wasn’t still mega invested at the end. From what I heard, they got back together briefly, but then spit up in the shows finale – the finale! I mean how cruel is that?

Beauty and the Tragedy Belle: did anyone else figure out what was going on (you dying)? Or was it something that you and Gold were able to keep hidden?

Why would anyone else have known? I didn’t know until Anthony broke down and told me the moment we were alone.

Nothing persisted from the previous loops, only the last one mattered. Given events, there is a general belief there was some sort of scandal. However, Anthony’s swift proposal of marriage meant nobody really cared, especially because he just has money and no title.

Personally I hope nobody ever finds out. It’s the kind of power some men would kill to possess. I certainly won’t ever tell a soul, and I believe that Anthony wishes he could forget it ever happened. However, his frequent nightmares that this last loop was just a dream, won’t let him. At least I’m always there to soothe him and remind him that I am alive, and I’m not going to leave him.

Beauty and the Tragedy (2nd ending). What will you guys do with the time machine now?

Gold: I can scarcely believe that after … I don’t even know how many loops, that Belle is finally alive and safe. I want to just lock the room and leave it locked. I have no need of the machine now but … I don’t even want to consider needing it again. However, if I did … if … I can’t even think about it.

Belle: We’re going to destroy it.

Gold: Belle sweetheart …

Belle: No Anthony. Should the worst happen I don’t want you to put yourself through that again. There are some things that just shouldn’t have been invented.

Gold: But …

Belle: Eternity wouldn’t be enough. Neither of us need the temptation. Mankind should not have such power. We’re going to destroy it.

So, Doctor Carter, what did you like in Doctor Rush ? Didn’t it feel like you were cheating on O’Neil for years ? Wasn’t it awkward to have the Colonel flirting heavily with you and even kissing him from time to time, while having a fling with Dr Rush ?

Wow that’s a lot of very personal questions …

However, clearly someone is spreading rumors and I want to set the record straight. General O’Neill – Jack, and I never acted on our feelings until we were free from the regulations. After Anubis and the replicators were defeated, I transferred to Area 51. We were no longer in the same chain of command, and finally free to pursue a relationship. We had our first kiss at the cabin so we definitely never kissed while I was seeing Nick. There was no inappropriate flirting either, we were strictly professional, friends and colleagues – nothing more!

I don’t think I would class what Nick and I had together as a fling either, it was a relationship, though admittedly a long distance one, and no I didn’t feel like I was cheating on Jack. Why would I? We weren’t together, and we made no promises to one another. Jack saw other people in the intervening years, though it never lasted long. I suppose we were both biding our time.

Yes I had feelings for Jack before I met Nick, but they were safe feelings because nothing could happen due to the regs. I suppose I compartmentalized them because they never went away. It’s likely that my feelings for Jack are why I couldn’t ultimately commit to Nick. However, I didn’t realize that when we broke up. Anyway, it doesn’t matter now, he’s moved on and Jack and I are together.

I will always think of Nick fondly. We split up but we stayed friends, even if that sometimes surprises people. I suppose he does have a prickly personality for those that don’t know him. What did I like about him? His intelligence, his smile, the sweet gestures he’d make and how embarrassed he would get when I noticed. Then there was his unconditional acceptance of who I was, the fact that we could be together and not talk, I never felt uncomfortable with him. He never made me feel like he wanted me to be someone else, a perfect woman, he just wanted me. Oh and he was fairly amazing in bed /blushes.

I know it’s not Tuesday but i was wondering does Painting Belle read braille? How does she read books? Audio books?

Hi anon! No worries about it not being Tuesday – I love questions and my askbox is always open 🙂

I prefer braille if I can get it. There’s something about the feel of paper beneath my fingers, and the reassuring weight of the book. However, audio is more widely available, especially with digital books because even if an audio version isn’t available, there are programs that can read the text.

It was brilliant!

Mr. Gold let us have popcorn AND we got to stay up late! Bae and I had plans for sweets at midnight but we were watching the second movie and … then it was the morning 🙁 but, but, but mommy says Bae can sleepover maybe one night thanksgiving weekend, she just has to talk to his papa. So sweets then! 🙂

All Hallows Fall/Transposing Digits Bae: I hope your papa is feeling better. Now, who are these horrible, nasty older kids that I heard about? The ones who made you smash your pumpkins? Do you think Papa or Belle will take them to task?

I’ll handle this question if you don’t mind. I told Bae not to think on the incident any further, he was very upset. Thank you for your concern, I am feeling much better. Belle was very kind and … well that’s none of your business.

By the time I was recovered Mary Margaret Nolan had already investigated the matter, and discovered which of the older children had been spreading tales about ‘mischief night’. Apparently they were quite apologetic by the time she was through with them, and I consider the matter closed.

They were only thoughtless children after all, who didn’t think about the consequences. I have spoken to Bae about how he should think for himself, and not blindly follow others. Hopefully, if he is told to do such idiotic things in future he will think twice.

Six Movies I could watch anytime

1) The Princess Diaries

This is so not my kind of movie, yet whenever I’m not feeling well, or I’m upset I watch it. I’m practically word perfect now I’ve seen it that many times.

2) The Avengers/Marvel Movies

I know, bit of a cheat listing the franchise, but there’s always one of them I fancy watching. I was going to just say the first Avengers movie, but I had to stop it yesterday and take a nap halfway through, so I felt maybe that disqualified it. I was having a duvet day, I didn’t feel well.

3) Fool’s Gold

Ok gifsearch didn’t kick back an actual gif of the movie, but there is this amazing yacht in it and they go treasure hunting. It’s very shiny and did I mention the boat?

4) Star Trek

Again cheating slightly because three movies fall under that umbrella, quite frankly I wish there were more. I do like movies, but they are so limited. Once I’ve watched a movie half a dozen times or more, that’s it – that’s all there is. Whereas with TV, there’s usually loads more episodes, so there’s more to rewatch and it has greater scope.

I’m stuck
Like I just said, I prefer TV to movies generally, so while there are a lot of movies I enjoy and love, picking “6 to watch anytime” is a bit difficult. For the most part while I like them, I have to be in the mood for them. So I could list National Treasure, Fast and the Furious etc. but they are just movies I like, not ones I could probably sit down and watch no matter what.
