How exactly am I supposed to study when there’s a billion awesome RCIJ fics waiting for me?

They will still be there when you are done studying 🙂

Try bribery, it tends to work for me reasonably well. Except I have this tendency to forget to have my reward and then I make myself do even more work to earn it. Don’t be me and move the goalposts, it’s not very fair.

Anyway, maybe try saying to yourself that you will study for a couple of hours, then take a 20 minute break and you can read some fic. Alternately, if you have a particular topic you need to study, then say once you have studied that, then you can read a fic.

Use the fic as a reward. Let it help make you study, rather than distract you 🙂

I think that’s cool! Definitely not sad. I mean people book time off for all sorts of reasons. I mean vacation time is “time to pursue hobbies” or “relaxation time”.

Personally I find actual vacations incredibly stressful. Staying at home and writing fic? That sounds like the best use of time off I can think of! Certainly the most enjoyable use of vacation time that I can imagine.

By that I mean I’m done but I’m terrified my person won’t like it/they’ll be disappointed. I did my best but this is my first gift exchange and it’s a scary business. I can’t wait till posting date because then the uncertainty will be over.

My babies. My precious science babies. How is it possible that Rush/Young has more shippers than Rush/Mandy?

I have no idea. Rush/Young is a complete NOTP for me. I just can’t fathom it at all but then I loathe Young more than any other character on Stargate. I hate him more than Kinsey for crying out loud because Kinsey at least never pretended to be something he wasn’t. In fact I think I hate Young more than Stalker Pete and I have to watch his scenes through my fingers while going “no, no, no” and pretending it’s not happening .. ahem I’m getting off topic.

These are gorgeous pictures. Look at Rush’s smile, the softness of his expression when he looks at Mandy. I didn’t ship them together, I just never felt that click for me to actively ship them, but they were a canon ship and their storyline is one of many that makes me wish we had a season 3, or a movie, or you know – something!!

OMG. Lacey goes back to the bridal shop on a whim and finds “her dress” on the clearance/sale rack. On impulse she buys it and then has to hide it from Rush. But of course he finds out (how the fuck do you hide a wedding dress when you live with someone??) and it’s all stupid fluffy.

I love the ‘answer anon hate with fic’ idea 🙂

I know nothing about Ikea and dirty talk is not my thing. Which I’m kind of glad about, because now I can get back to work on my selkie!Rush fic. Let’s see what I can do with that by the end of the month!

I know nothing about Ikea either. If anyone just wants to have Rumbelle putting any furniture together that’s fine too. This is just what came up in the random generator.

I was distracted by the smut prompt yesterday but – ikea furniture. That now reminds me of that discussion thread on 19 of the most ridiculous fights couples have had in ikea. So if somebody wanted to flesh out the prompt, I know a couple of people were talking about rumbelling certain fights.

Isn’t ikea just flatpack furniture? I’ve never been to ikea. Didn’t they have a scene on the show like that with David and Emma trying to put it together for the unborn baby Neal, and saying they should call Geppetto/Marco?

Heh this immediately made me think of @b-does-the-write-thing prompt fic they posted the other day as part of their prompt-a-thon – link – that had Belle as a dancer and Gold as a former dancer. It was sweet.

Heya. You know I think I must have summoned you, I was just thinking about you and hoping that you were ok. It’s nice to hear from you 🙂

Ah yeah I don’t tend to talk about myself much. So three quick facts. No I’m not American, I’m from England, I’m 26 and I’m very excited for Camp NaNo which starts today. So no holiday weekend for me but hopefully a lot of writing will be done regardless.

Are you American Santa? Do you have fun plans for the weekend? Do you like NaNo? Sorry, I might be a bit of a NaNo fan. It’s going to be my 10th anniversary this November, although if I include Camp I have done more than 10 events already.

A first name for Mr Gold

A title for this bloody fic

Is this for your RCIJ fic? Because I am in the same boat.

I’ll get one eventually, but in the meantime it’s agonising. It has to be a) one I haven’t used before b) one that has some sort of meaning and c) one that I don’t hate or that I can’t use due to weird family connotations (I can never use Robert, as that’s my brother’s name)

Same on A and B. There aren’t that many names that have been ruined for me, but I try not to reuse names. Unfortunately, the one name that would work really well for this fic, is one I went and used on a one-shot. Ugh.

Why can’t you re-use a name for Gold? I mean he’s always Gold, so why can’t he always be ‘something’ Gold. I’m sorry if that is a stupid question.

Perhaps this is my laziness talking. I can all but guarantee in all my fics if Gold’s first name is mentioned then it will be Nicholas/Nick because I love Rush and that just works for me.

Unless of course I was writing a crossover in which Rush and Gold both appear, in which case I suppose I would have to pick something else like Alexander or Julian or Alastor. Why am I using all my spy names for Gold? He isn’t a shadowy secret agent, he’s just incredibly brilliant at operating in the shadows, pulling strings, manipulating people, playing the subtle long game and … yeah he would make a good secret agent. Sorry that was random.

For fic titles I’m rather fond of using episode titles myself.
