Love this! I’m such a sucker for Lachelle. Hope you write more 🙂 x

Thank you so much! I’m definitely planning on writing more. I’ve just not been having a very good month and my writing has really suffered. I had hoped to have updated this several times and completed it by the end of the month, but it’ll be the end of April now probably. It will definitely happen! I’m not one to leave things unfinished, don’t worry 🙂

Memoria…

One day Belle wakes up in a remote town, which is accessible only by boat. She doesn’t remember anything, not even her name. She only guesses she’s called Belle because of the band around her wrist. The still water of the fjord terrifies her, and she has nightmares of drowning. The cabin where she lives is paid for, everything she wants is always paid for, but nobody knows who she is, how she got there or who is paying the bills.

Belle wants to learn who she is, and what happened to her, but leaving the small town would mean travelling on the water. It would also mean facing the complete unknown, as everything beyond the shores of the town is a mystery. Nobody ever comes to town, the only boats they get are for resupply or locals travelling to and from the mainland. Then one day a stranger arrives, a stranger who calls her name in a wrecked tone and holds her with fierce desperation.

Urk new promo shots for Agents of Shield just came out. I was tempted for half a second to change my icon but that feels disloyal. Once is my only actual fandom, and The Gold Family is especially important right now, so I won’t.

But yikes Fitz and Simmons do look good.

I’m about ten episodes behind due to living in the UK but I’ve spoiled myself just a little bit and *incoherent screaming* I can’t wait!

I forgot to put this in my review. I’ve seen a few posts floating around saying that Bae using the dagger against Rumple is a retcon, because Rumple told August that Bae would never control him. I don’t believe it’s a retcon for one simple reason.

Rose-tinted glasses.

Rumple had a couple of hundred years with just the memory of Bae, and how he felt that he’d let his son down – how he’d failed him. I mean Rumple already had Bae as the center of his universe – “without him I’d truly be dust” – and he thought that Bae made him stronger, was the best part of him etc. So I’m sure after two hundred years, in Rumple’s mind Bae was the most perfect son ever who could never do anything wrong.

The sheer depth of Rumple’s self-loathing would probably make him twist everything so that Bae was right. In Rumple’s mind everything would be his fault, never Bae’s. So while he might remember what Bae did, Rumple would put it down to circumstance, it never happened again, it was just a one-time thing, and it was a mistake, and Bae doesn’t even remember so it’s like it never happened. Rumple would never want to remind Bae of something he’s trying to protect him from.

So yeah in my opinion it wasn’t a retcon.

I need a gifset of Rumple striding up to Gideon, turning to the Blue Fairy and taking care of business like I need air.

“I’m not here to stop you. I’m here to do it for you. I won’t let you touch the darkness” – essentially I will do whatever nasty stuff needs to happen so that you don’t have to – I will be the villain to protect you.

This is the Rumple I knew, finally on screen in all his glory.

I also need one with Rumple giving Bae memory potion and letting his son hate him, taking all the judgement on himself just to spare Bae the unpleasant reality. Think about what Rumple could have had. Bae could have understood him but he cared more about what was right for Bae, than what he wanted.

Honestly I don’t think I’ve loved an episode this much since season two.

I’m going to attempt to be coherent in a review, I have a lot of notes! I’m also fighting off multiple plot bunnies because zomg this episode was everything I ever wanted, and so close to everything Rumple ever wanted as well.

It’s like seriously I think my only complaint was Belle needs more screentime! Everything else was just urk so amazing, I am dead with feels.

ETA: Apologies for the incoming spam. I have a feeling there’s going to be a fair bit I want to reblog.

1/2 For me I think your writing’s defining trait is the way you turn the regular tropes and plots and situations we see on their heads or how you twist them into something different. In your wish realm fics you had Belle under a sleeping curse by her own choice but she trusted in their love to wake her up. In PLL both Gold and Belle are a bit woobie, but Gold is still Gold. He’s not a version of spinner!Rum, he’s misanthropic and mired in his work. Even his exchanges with Neal are different.

2/2 – Instead of supporting and even pushing his father to a relationship with Belle, Neal is afraid that Gold will hurt Belle. Neal sees his dad for what he is and seeks to protect Belle from him rather than believing that she makes his dad better. Neal thinks he’s got problems, she’s got problems, and holy crap you two should not be together. So often Neal is the matchmaker or the protector of Rumple/Gold. Instead he’s protecting Belle. It’s interesting and different, as is all your work.

I don’t think there’s a gif in the world that can properly sum up my reaction to this. Thank you so much! This means everything to me.

What’s my writing trademark?

Why hasn’t Once done a clipshow?

I just read another post which mentioned Once’s budget, which made me suddenly wonder about this. Once’s budget must be fairly high; there’s all the CGI, special effects, location shooting, on top of all the actors salaries. Now my favorite TV show in the entire world is Stargate and they had similar demands on their budget.

You could always tell if they’d overspent on another episode when they did an episode that entirely took place within the standing sets of the SGC. Then most seasons they had a clipshow, where basically any new footage was just characters in a room talking, and everything else was clips of previous episodes. Why hasn’t Once done one of those?

They have so much material in terms of events that have happened, they could easily fill an episode with flashbacks. I know the plot of Once is complicated, so was Stargate’s, so the clipshows don’t really work that well in terms of “catching people up on the plot” as you really need to know the plot in order to fully understand the clips. However, I know that the promos use to try and claim that those were good introductory episodes.

Anyway, clipshows are good because they cost barely any money to make, they get to re-use the shots of expensive CGI/special effects so they get more out of them, and it’s a bit of a nostalgia trip for long-time viewers. Once is on it’s sixth season, I think Stargate had it’s first clipshow in season one, so it’s long overdue.

I know clipshows usually aren’t popular. I think it depends whether the new footage that ties the clips together is compelling or not. An example of a good clipshow in my opinion is SG1′s 7.20 Inauguration, which didn’t even have any of the regular characters in the new footage. However, it advanced the plot of the season quite nicely and helped evolve some minor characters.

So thoughts on a postcard. Why hasn’t Once done a clipshow?
