I just noticed that my last story tipped me over the 500k mark on AO3. I didn’t quite make it before my anniversary so in One Year and 8 Days I reached half a million words of Rumbelle/Anyelle fic. Another milestone unlocked!

Typo is still there.
What to do? What to do? Well for a start let’s not mention it at gone 10:30pm, so that’s going to be a really fun conversation tomorrow morning. Maybe I’ll just stay in bed all day…
I’ve rewatched a fair bit of Stargate the last few days and the Genesis List came up. Now I’m not going to go into that because it makes me really sad, but it did spark a memory. A while back on netflix I watched this mini-series called Ascension. It wasn’t very good because it couldn’t decide what it was going to be; it tried to be everything and then failed at everything.
Basically the people on board thought there were on a 100 year mission to cross space and form a colony. I know that concepts in lots of things but it’s interesting. Space/resources are limited, concepts like an economy would be thrown out of the window, the power dynamics alone are fascinating. Plus the psychological points of people being born, growing old and dying within the same small structure. Knowing when growing up that they’d already seen everything they were going to see, and knew everyone there was to know.
Matches were made by the ships computer to maximize bloodlines and once a year a handful of couples were authorized to have children. Unfortunately because someone else on the ship had died so there was a ‘space’.
Anyway I was just thinking about the fic potential.
– Belle and Gold are matched together. Belle hates the very idea, everything about their lives is controlled and Belle loves her freedom. Obviously eventually when she stops hating it on principle she realizes she loves Gold.
– Belle and Gold aren’t matched together, but they are in love and they despair of the day when they will be matched as the chances are it’s not with each other (not everyone is because of the disparity in male and female numbers).
– Either Belle or Gold is matched to someone else, but they love one another and it’s miserable snatching time together, having to hide because it’s against the rules.
Then there’s the fluffy potential, like Gold wanting to get Belle a gift but in a contained world, how can he get her something new? I don’t know, this was just what my brain was mulling over today. Actually having written all this out, have I rambled about this before? Hmm I can’t find it in my tags.
I don’t want to write this myself, so if anyone likes any of this have at it 🙂
Biology question for the day: Is it possible to be allergic/intolerant to milk but not other milk products (cheese/yogurt etc)?
I have absolutely no idea but I’m thinking the answer is yes for one simple reason. Someone else (I’m on mobile sorry) mentioned taking lactose tablets which meant someone could then eat more dairy and be fine. Whereas they don’t work for me. If I have any milk (or milk product) I’m so ill. So there must be multiple things about milk that people can be allergic to.
I’ve been violently allergic all my life so I don’t know the difference, so anything I say probably won’t be helpful. I drink my coffee black, eat cereal dry etc. If I cook then I use soya milk. That’s just normal to me. Whereas I guess if you tried to cut out milk you’d really miss it? *hugs you* I’m so sorry 🙁

Pathetic and disappointing answer alert: I’m not watching anything right now. I’m looking for my next television show, actually. There are some shows I should catch up on via Netflix/DVD, like Downton Abbey and maybe Supergirl? Lucifer? I don’t know. I feel this weird reluctance to get invested right now. I love lots of other shows but hands down the best show on TV right now – well once it comes back from the summer hiatus – is Agents of Shield.
Why is it so brilliant?
1) It doesn’t take itself too seriously. The jokes and lines are amazing, I laugh every time I watch it. It is pure entertainment.
2) The character development is incredible and it’s consistent. Things happen and there are consequences. Most TV is so episodic these days, quality storytelling is rare.
3) Hand in hand with the character development, is how they’ve developed the show ‘ships’. Fitzsimmons have fully done best friends to lovers and I swear all the other characters on the show ship them (I certainly do), the lines are swoonworthy. Coulson and May aren’t together yet but they are heading there. I never thought I would ever think they could be more than friends but they’ve developed it so gradually and naturally it just makes sense.
4) Every time I watch this show I love it more. Usually that doesn’t happen, usually the first season is the best – not true here. The first season started off a bit slow (but still great) and it has gone from strength to strength since.
I know there are four seasons already out there BUT there’s also a six month hiatus before season five, so catching up isn’t impossible. Ok that’s my pitch 🙂
Bright!Belle, have you and Gold made love yet? If you have, what was it like?
Well the mission was over within a week. We shipped out and debriefed, there were no imminent disaster so we then got some time off for a change! A little bit of downtime before we had to start prepping for the next assignment. We went out for mid-morning coffee, which bled into lunch, which turned into spending the afternoon together strolling around the park and just remembering how good the world can be.
We then had dinner and Alistair walked me home. I kissed him and he went to leave, saying he should get home to bed. I said we definitely should get to bed and kissed him again. His expression was wonderful, it was clear he had no expectations of anything and I liked that, I don’t know why but I guess I felt respected, like he wasn’t pushing for more than I was ready to give. I know I was ready to sleep with him anyway but I still appreciated it.
The sweet man started to stammer that he didn’t expect anything and I kissed him again. No regrets, that’s how I live my life. We never know what will be our final mission and I deeply care for Alistair. It’s not love yet, it can’t be because we don’t know each other well enough, but we won’t know one another if we don’t take a chance. He kissed me then, so gently and lovingly, it was perfect.
What happened next is private but it was … incredible.
Bright Lights Gold and Belle: Have either of you ever been out and about and been “recognized” by someone you’ve encountered on a mission?
Gold: This is why we don’t work where we live. Besides it’s about situations. We are unlikely to run into a high-roller arms dealer, or his associates, in the grocery store of our home town. If we went to a large party for the elite in a big city, then the odds would increase.
Belle: *pokes him* tell them *grins*
Gold: *sighs* there was one occasion. We do tend to work in the same areas because we develop contacts, we are familiar with the terrain. I was once meeting the representative of a human trafficker in a hotel bar, and I was approached by a young woman from a previous mission.
Belle: Go on, what happened?
Gold: She’d been a hotel maid, I’d … charmed her on the previous mission. Obviously I was using a different cover identity and I couldn’t have her calling out my previous fake name. So I … I …
Belle: Yes?
Gold: I kissed her alright. I then guided her out of the bar, spun some story and said I would see her later, and then later I thought of a good cover and it was dealt with. You know you don’t have to find this quite so amusing. I’m sure it’ll happen to you one day.
Belle: *kisses him* I’m sorry I can just picture how flustered you were under all your training. It’s adorable.
Gold: *pouts* It’s not adorable, it was serious. *she kisses him again* I suppose if it wasn’t for my training I would have looked like a deer in the headlights. You know I only have eyes for you?
Belle: *rolls her eyes* of course! That doesn’t even need to be said. We just do what we have to in order to complete the mission and get home safely. You’re the one I’m coming home to.
Gold: *smiles at her* and you are the only I want to come home to *kisses her again* *waves the questioner away – busy now*

I’m really quite easy as a giftee. My primary concern is that you enjoy yourself. The last thing I want is for you to make yourself miserable writing a fic that you don’t want to write. I know movie AU’s can be problematic, so please don’t feel you have to follow the source material strictly or anything.
I was thinking just the premise. Gold as the head chef that lives for his work. Belle as the bright, messy, new chef in the kitchen who brings light to his kitchen and his life. You could include the kid angle if you want. Maybe Gold gets custody of Bae/Neal again after several years and while he loves his son, he doesn’t know how to adapt his life.
It’s entirely up to you what you do though. I leave everything in your very capable hands. I just want you to have fun. Seriously that is what I want most. If you have any problems at all, or just want to chat, then feel free to shoot an ask anytime. If I haven’t responded within 24 hours then tumblr has eaten it. Have fun!

Bright!Gold, what was going through your mind when Belle was dancing for you? Were you scared when you began to react to her?
I think my brain went on vacation the moment I was told the location and circumstances of the meet. When Belle started to dance … saying I was in awe doesn’t really cover it. If it hadn’t been for my training the entire meeting would have been ruined but thankfully I managed to concentrate enough to trade the required information.
When I felt myself react I tried to draw on that same training, picturing horrible sights to try and drown out the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen. It didn’t work because beauty is only skin deep. Just knowing it was Belle, that was what was too much. I was more ashamed than scared but I do have a reputation. If Belle made a report about unwanted advances, being called a ‘dirty old man’ would have been the least of my problems. I don’t have many friends among our employers, though I do have some reports of my own saved for a rainy day.
Fortunately such measures aren’t necessary. I’m more stunned than ever at Belle’s reaction. I would never have guessed she harbored any feelings for me at all. I’m counting down the days until this mission is over. I will understand of course if it was a mistake made due to the intensity of the location, and our positions, but I hope it was real. Perhaps we’ll start with going out for coffee and see where it goes from there.
