Oooooh yay the new prompts for Monthly Rumbelling are up. Honestly, the time difference between the UK and the US drives me mad sometimes. I keep having to remind myself that it’s only mid-morning for them, even though I’m about to go to bed.

Ok I was kinda hoping the regular prompt would be something I could do anyelle with as I haven’t done that yet. However “Mr Gold loses his cane” is kinda specific 🙂 I just typed that I didn’t have an idea and I was thinking about it … and then I got an idea so I guess that will be happening.

Honestly I suppose I should be grateful, lack of ideas is one problem I don’t have heh 🙂

Anyway that smut prompt … that is definitely going to be a thing. It was already on my list because there was a similar one which wasn’t picked for the Great Rumbelle Blow Off. This will kill two prompts with one stone. I suppose if I want to write anyelle I could do it for this prompt instead. Hmm, that’s something to consider … I will have to think on it!

It appears that I will be writing ‘all the things’ again. I kinda failed at that last month, so here’s hoping the procrastination demon will behave better. I need to practice for NaNo after all 🙂

The NaNo Site has relaunched!!!

Honestly I’m like a kid on Christmas 🙂 I’ve accomplished nothing for a good chunk of the afternoon because I was waiting for the site to come back up.

Anyway, I’ve now created my project. It’s a bit light on details at the moment but it is only October 1st. I’m going to have to go eat dinner in a bit but I will continue writing Painting Layers of Love when I get back. The 150 words I managed between hitting F5 on the NaNo site, is not exactly going to cut it haha.

If anyone wants to add me as a buddy, here’s my profile.

That’s Chris Baty’s book about NaNo, and I couldn’t resist the reference sorry 🙂 Erm, yeah no I totally get it. I’m very much a planner, so there’s no way I could do NaNo either if I didn’t know what I was writing.

Ok, how about some questions. Like do you want to write an original novel or fanfic? If it’s original then I don’t know, what genre do you fancy? Genre is always a good place to start. If it’s fanfic, erm there’s that prompt tumblr which might spark something.

You know, this is actually a really good excuse to go rewatch/reread all your favorite shows/books, to get in the mood for whatever kind of writing you feel like doing – just call it research 🙂

I hadn’t a clue either, but there are tons of FAQs on the website. The aim is to write 50k words over the month 🙂

The stated aim of NaNo is to “write a book in a month” or “50k in a month” but blah that isn’t what it’s really about. That is what you do, that isn’t what it is.

NaNo is about pushing yourself further than you could get on your own. It doesn’t matter whether you write 50k, a complete novel, 10k, 100k or whatever. The important thing is the taking part. My biggest regret isn’t the two years I didn’t make 50k, it’s the year I didn’t sign up at all.

It’s about setting a personal challenge, and like I said it doesn’t matter what that is, and smashing old records (whatever they are) and just generally going for it! It’s about stretch goals, reaching for the stars. Maybe you get it, maybe you don’t, but at the end of the day you’re going to have more than you would otherwise. It’s just about trying your best.

So yeah, that’s what NaNo is. It’s magic.

A lot of people use their current fan fiction as their NaNo project as encouragement to finish it. Doing NaNo does not mean putting aside fanfic, unless you chose to do so in favor of working on something strictly original.

You can do that, use something that’s already half-written? I didn’t know that. Well, it could be helpful to have a further incentive to finish a WIP, but original project sounds good too. Mhm, need to sleep on this.

Yes, you can. I know several fanfic writers who have done that. NaNo is more about the process of writing and putting the time into producing something, as well as the encouragement you get from others. What you choose to write doesn’t matter.

I mean I think the NaNo FAQ says “give yourself the gift of a clean slate” as sometimes if a project is part-done, then it’s hard to have the oomph to finish it in the timeframe. However, equally NaNo can kickstart projects and finally get them completed. I think it’s a YMMV situation.

So yeah do fanfic, do original, continue a project, start a new one – do everything! The choice is yours 🙂

What’s your main in Warcraft? Heh, you are giving me major nostalgia feels. I quit over a year ago and I’m not at all tempted to play again, but this game was a big part of my life for some time. I miss what it was, not what it is, but heh, yeah all the nostalgia :) My main was a Human Protection Paladin, but I had an alt of .. everything haha, I was crazy about the achievements. How about you?

I was a draenei holy paladin, then I switched to Mistweaver monk. yeah, I’m the same, I have an alt of everything…I think I have like…3 paladins at level 90+ plus most everything else at at least 90 as well. 

I quit for a long time after my guild fell apart (over a year) it just wasn’t the same after that, I was there for years, we were all freinds, it was so sad. 

I’m really enjoying Legion so far, though I thought Warlords was shit (another reason I quit) but I’m still salty that they’re murdering all the important lore characters, including one of my all time faves! *sob*

edit: my current main is a blood elf demon hunter on Draenor EU (I called her Dearies, creative I know, but all variations of Rumple/Rumbelle were taken lmao)

Paladins rule! Best class in the game naturally. (just teasing, the best class is what you love the most).

I never really got on with monks that well. I liked the dps spec, oh man what was that called? But I was the worlds worst healer, I think that there wasn’t enough direct heals for me, I just couldn’t nail the style. Then for brewmaster, I don’t think there was enough self-healing for me, which coming off a Prot Pally makes sense (we self-healed like a boss. It was my mission in raids to not need any healing aside from AOE).

I quit for the first time during Mists final long patch, took about 9 months out, but I came back for Warlords, but I quit again before the first patch as I just wasn’t enjoying it. They had gutted everything I’d enjoyed the most about the game though I’m glad to hear you are enjoying Legion 🙂 I’m not one of those bitter ex-players. The game might not be what I love any longer, but I still have good memories, and I like to hear that other people are having fun.

Heh man, like I said all the nostalgia 🙂 I was such an achievement junkie, and a collector and a completionist. Basically, I wanted to do ‘all the things’ which is so very like me. I used to farm mounts/pets/legendaries every reset. I was actually raid leader for a while, never really heroic (or mythic as it is now) but we used to clear normal and get a couple of heroic bosses down.

I’m going to stop rambling now. I’m glad you are enjoying Legion! Also, I love that char name 🙂

Faith of the Heart (Chapter Four)

Synopsis: Following directly on from The War Within. Rumplestiltskin and Belle have a lot to talk about. True loves kiss might have woken Belle from the sleeping curse but their marriage won’t be fixed over night. They have a little less than nine months to sort themselves out as a couple – then they’ll become a family. It’s time for them to reconcile properly, and to finally have the courtship that circumstances originally denied them.

Note: I was worried that I would lose my drive to write this after the premiere aired but no worries. Apparently my brain considers it different enough that it’s not a problem. Anyway, this is the last of what I call the ‘reconciliation’ chapters. It ties up some loose ends and I might have taken a prompt from a comment I got on AO3, probably not supposed to do that but ooops 🙂 The next chapter will probably be excessively fluffy. I hope you enjoy!

It was dinner
at Granny’s again. They had the table by the window and Emma sat at the back,
taking a moment from her family before she would lean forward and join them
again. For a change Emma wasn’t sitting next to Hook, she had pulled Henry down
next to her before he could claim his customary seat to her left. Hook had
given her an odd look but said nothing.

The truth was
Emma needed time to think. She loved Hook, she was certain about that, but
things couldn’t continue how they had been going. At first it had just been
infatuation, he had pursued her and she had clung to him because it was easy.
Now, she chose to love him because love could be a choice. Privately she
admitted that probably meant that they weren’t actually true love, but that
didn’t matter.

True love was
something from a fairy tale, and despite being the ‘daughter of Snow White and
Prince Charming’ her life had never been a fairy tale. To be honest she wasn’t
sure what she would do with that kind of life. The kind of love that was hard
work, where the love wasn’t always easy but she chose it, that felt more like
her reality.

A weekly movie or games night at the Gold house sounds good! And exactly what you said, let’s have just some quiet ordinary life for a while; Henry needs to chill and simply be a kid!

Yup I think some peace and quiet would help everyone, not just Henry. I referenced the regular movie nights in He’s Behind You, so this is where they started 🙂

Anyway, I think they all need some time, particularly Emma, but the others as well. Plus, if there’s several mostly peaceful months, I can write all the Rumbelle fluff I like 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed it!

At the beginning of this month I set myself a challenge to ‘write all the things’ and it didn’t exactly go according to plan. My two small oneshots for The War Within, turned into Faith of the Heart, a proper sequel. I didn’t manage to finish it before the premiere, which was my goal, but I certainly tried. With Faith of the Heart being so much longer, I then didn’t have the time for the other projects, meaning I had to push them back another month – again.

Also, just so no-one thinks I have forgotten, on my ‘upcoming’ list I have a couple more oneshots for The War Within verse, and additions to In Your Arms and Between Two Fires verses. Then the prompt verses of Love at the Marina and Renaissance Faire, and my Rushbelle fic Ripple Effect which I swear will happen one day. I’m like an elephant, I never forget fics that I have promised, they just sometimes take me a while.

Oh and just for the comedy factor. In addition to the fics I’ve mentioned in this post, I have 20 more ideas noted down potentially for ‘one day’. They might never happen, but hey at least I’m never going to be short of ideas 🙂

OMG! I just realized that the wand Rumple used in 6×01 is the Apprentice’s Wand! It can only be wielded by someone with both light and dark magic. SO…the biggest baddest sum of all Dark Ones has FUCKING LIGHT MAGIC!!! Yeeeeeeessssss!!!!!!

Please tell me I’m right? This better have been intentional and not something they just forgot.

Erm well my instinctive answer was no because Zelena wielded it and there’s nothing but darkness in her. So I went back to the transcript and it said:

Apprentice: It is a gift from the sorcerer, from Merlin, on the day I became his apprentice. In it is all the light magic.
Mary Margaret: It can take us to our daughter?
Apprentice: Not on its own. In order to cross realms, it must be wielded as it was forged, with both sides of the coin. Light and the dark.
Regina: I guess that’s my cue.
(it fails)
Hook: You heard the man, it needs darkness. You’ve gone soft. How’s this for irony? You’ve done too much good. No, we need someone wicked.

So my interpretation was that the wand was filled with light magic, and so it needed someone with dark magic to wield it. The wand had the light magic, not the user, which is why Zelena could use it but Regina struggled.

Synopsis: Set not long after the events of Faith of the Heart. Belle reads a book and gets an idea, she wants to tease her husband from a distance. While she doesn’t have have the technology the book described, thankfully there are two voodoo dolls in the back of the pawnshop that will work just as well.

Note: Written for @a-monthly-rumbelling in September. The prompt was Voodoo Doll and Phantom Touch. This is my first ever smut fic and I’m quite nervous about it. A big thanks to @worryinglyinnocent for being so encouraging and beta reading for me. Enjoy!

Also, there’s a reference to something from Faith of the Heart, which hasn’t actually appeared in that story yet, because I didn’t finish that story like I was supposed to do. It will appear, maybe in the next chapter, maybe the one after. I don’t know because I haven’t written it yet.

Rumplestiltskin paused in the doorway to the kitchen, a soft
smile playing across his face. He leaned against the door frame, relishing the
sight before him. Belle was humming along to the radio, some happy sounding
tune blasting from the tinny speakers. He drank in the sight, just a few months
earlier he thought that they would never have this again.

True loves kiss had woken Belle from the sleeping curse, but
that had only been the start of their reconciliation. It had taken months of
talking, but now five months into her pregnancy, they were finally rock solid
as a couple and eagerly awaiting the arrival of their son or daughter. Belle
was radiant, the cliché that pregnant women glowed was definitely true in her
case.

He moved forward almost unconsciously, thinking about their
child always drew him to Belle like a magnet. Rumplestiltskin wrapped his arms
around her from behind, holding her gently and placing one hand on her stomach.
Belle craned her neck and matched his sappy grin with one of her own.

I try very hard to stick to an update schedule. It’s important to me that my word is good. If I make a commitment, then I honor it. I think this is the first time I’ve actually failed to keep a promise, any other late update was something I said I would try for, but then didn’t manage. However, I’ve slipped. I lost a week and I’ve been playing catch up, just managing to scrape my deadlines, but now I’ve run out of steam.

It’s my most popular story which makes it even worse but I won’t be updating Painting Layers of Love tomorrow. This isn’t like my panic from last week, where I managed to pull it out of the bag in time, I literally can’t manage to do it. I have a complete outline for the chapter, it’s just a matter of putting words to the page. However, I just don’t have it in me to get it done in time. I’m really sorry for that but there’s just no way it’s going to happen.

Therefore I’m going to move the update of Painting Layers of Love to Tuesday. I’m aware I owe another part of Transposing Digits, that’ll be next on the list after that. Faith of the Heart is kinda at the halfway point, I have finished part one and haven’t yet started part two, therefore I’m alright with leaving it for a week or two – sorry to everyone waiting for the fluff. However, before I write part two of that, I really need to finish The Tomb (Rumbelle Revelry fic).

So that’s how the fic priorities for the next couple of weeks is going to shake down. Normal service will be resumed after that.

So I don’t really like the way I’ve been feeling about Belle lately…  I would appreciate some fic recs that my fellow rumbellers think portray her in a more positive light than the show has lately!  Don’t be afraid to point me at classics or stories from a few years ago 🙂  I’d love to see a strong Belle fighting for Rumple.

I’ve got some Rumbelle rec lists on my blog, as well as my own fic list. Lots of fluff! If you want a well-done imagined alternative to season 6 (written over the hiatus), try @still-searching47‘s “The War Within”. Much, much better version of what happened to Belle while she was under the sleeping curse, and the realisations that she came to. Written in a way that feels very like episodic canon.
