Memoria…

One day Belle wakes up in a remote town, which is accessible only by boat. She doesn’t remember anything, not even her name. She only guesses she’s called Belle because of the band around her wrist. The still water of the fjord terrifies her, and she has nightmares of drowning. The cabin where she lives is paid for, everything she wants is always paid for, but nobody knows who she is, how she got there or who is paying the bills.

Belle wants to learn who she is, and what happened to her, but leaving the small town would mean travelling on the water. It would also mean facing the complete unknown, as everything beyond the shores of the town is a mystery. Nobody ever comes to town, the only boats they get are for resupply or locals travelling to and from the mainland. Then one day a stranger arrives, a stranger who calls her name in a wrecked tone and holds her with fierce desperation.

Does this make anyone else think of either Student!Rush studying at college, or Professor Rush ignoring the paperwork on the screen in favor of the math in his notebook? All it needs is a Lacey or a Belle sneaking up behind him now.

The look on his face makes me think more about a desperate student than a professor.

Yup studying was the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe last minute cramming for a test he didn’t much care for. I think most colleges make you take some classes not directly related to your major, you need a certain amount of credits or something.

Anyway Belle or Lacey should go and “help” him study, or you know help him “not” to study 🙂

#anyway considering the art psa that just went round i’m probably doing a bad thing here#i was inspired by the picture but i am sorry op

I meant to comment on this when it was posted and I forgot. This makes me think of surveillance, I think it’s the angle of Belle’s photo.

Anyway, Gold could be a cop or a private investigator who is watching Belle. Maybe if he’s a cop they think she’s their way to crack whatever case they are working on, or perhaps it’s a dark!Belle story and Belle is a criminal herself. Alternately private investigator, perhaps somebody wants to know everything about Belle for some reason.

So Gold is watching her but surveillance is boring and requires lots of coffee and takeout. One day he accidentally runs into her at the coffee shop while fueling up, and suddenly he’s getting a far closer look at her life than he’d planned.

Ok I just got a fourth plot bunny for Rumbelle Order in the Court. This is getting ridiculous. Whoever came up with this event is Evil, with a capital E, but only in the best possible way of course heh 🙂

I don’t know if anyone on here has seen the British legal drama Judge John Deed. It hasn’t been on TV in a decade, but it is perfect for a loose adaptation. A basic summary is John Deed (who is a judge) has an on/off again affair with Jo Mills, a barrister who frequently appears before him in court. Jo Mills is the social justice type, always looking out for the underdog.

Another barrister who frequently appears is Georgina Channing – John Deed’s ex-wife – who is actually not as bad as she looks. When push comes to shove she’ll do the right thing but the rest of the time she is just in it for the money, and she’ll cut corners/flirt with corruption but never actually really cross the line. She’s always defending big corporations who have done bad things.

Someone else that makes frequent appearances also in court is John Deed’s daughter Charlie. Now, there are rules about who can appear before a judge because of conflict of interest I guess. Children are a bit iffy, not wise if the case might go to appeal. Current lovers are a big no-no, but ex-wives or ex-lovers are fine. Quite often the show will have a case and John Deed will preside, and it’ll be Jo Mills vs Georgina Channing.

So Once Upon a Time’s tangled web of a family tree is represented. There’s the need for secrecy as nobody could know Belle and Gold were together if she was appearing before him in court, cue lots of “I can’t see you until the case is over” and then “ooops we just had sex in your chambers.”

This one is totally up for adoption if someone wants it. In fact please somebody take it off my hands *begs*

What if there had been another way to find Bae? What if a portal to him could have been opened by the blood of a sibling? (Just a drop or two, nothing harmful of course.) Between his innate decency and the fact that he would want another child of his to have a mother who wanted them, I can’t see Rumpel forcing just any woman to bear the child of the Dark One. I think he would have first considered that an option with Cora, but then that fell through. But what if Belle were the one to summon him to save her people from the ogres, and Rumpel can see that she’s not afraid of him, not too off-put by his appearance. What if the deal he offered was that she go with him and bear his child, and stay to help raise it to adulthood – say twenty years.? After that she would be free to leave if she so chose.  And of course there must be plenty of baby-making smut.

Yes please. I’ve wanted a fic like this for years.

Angst it up by having kid Gideon wonder if he was actually wanted, seeing as he was only born to enable his papa to find/save his big brother.

Throw in some miscommunication between Rumple and Belle. Belle might have agreed to the deal but Rumple thinks that was all there was, and so the moment she’s pregnant he backs off because he would never force himself on her. Belle for her part then thinks that he has no interest in her. So they continue as platonic parents until something pushes them together.

I tried out a couple of different shows on netflix last night. One of them was called Travelers, it was created by Brad Wright (creator of Stargate SG1) so I thought it would be good. It was alright, I’m not sold on it yet. There’s a dynamic that I hope that they will investigate further, and not just brush under the rug as being ‘too tough’ to deal with.

As always I got to thinking how it could be Rumbelled because apparently my brain is hardwired to do that. *rolls eyes at self*

To summarize the show. Something bad happened in the future, and time travelers have been sent back to change the shape of history. How do they do that? Well basically somebody was destined to die but before they do, this traveler from the future takes over their body but it doesn’t stop there. They take over their life as well, they step into their shoes and wear their skin but they aren’t them. The person they’ve taken over is dead and gone, and nobody that cares about them knows that.

I mean the travelers didn’t kill their ‘hosts’ for lack of a better term, but there’s still ethical considerations. Those people are dead but nobody knows to mourn them. I find that quite sad. Imagine learning that the person you loved, is no longer that person, it’s somebody else inhabiting their body. “Well where’s person X?” “They are gone.” but the friends/family still have to look at them, and it seems like they are there but they aren’t. The fact that the travelers perpetuate the deception, by pretending to be the people whose bodies they are controlling, just makes it worse.

Anyway, I do have a point besides the ethical dilemma. These travelers are aided in taking over these strangers lives, by whatever was left of public records and social media profiles. There’s still so much they don’t know. For example in the episode I watched last night, this traveler went home to his ‘hosts’ wife and called her by her name, only to learn that his host never called her that, but always a nickname.

So if this was Rumbelled, imagine Gold is unhappily married. In public he’s Mr Gold, rich and ruthless and powerful, but in private he’s constantly brow-beaten and called worthless etc. Then one day there’s an accident and his wife gets taken over by traveler Belle, who is doing her best to save the world and be a hero. She’s studied the available info on the Gold’s and to public appearances they are the perfect couple, she thinks that they are happy and so she’s nice and loving and very Belle like. Gold is confused and suspicious because it’s like night and day.

Then a couple of options come to mind:
– He follows her, assuming she’s up to something, but never guessing it’s what it is. He discovers her doing some secret agent type mission but there are protocols and Belle can’t explain, so she tries to lie but eventually truth will out.
– Belle’s team contained her boyfriend (this is a dynamic on the show actually) and he wants to continue their relationship, but Belle obviously has to spend a lot of time with Gold and winds up falling for him, even though he has no idea who she really is.
– Or Gold’s historical date of death was just a couple of months after his wifes and so Belle’s boyfriend was due to join her, by taking Gold over then, but by then Belle can’t bear the idea of Gold dying so she saves him. Belle’s boyfriend takes the next host and comes to find out what the hell went wrong.

I haven’t watched the show enough to determine what happens with the travelers in the end, whether it was a one-way trip or they can go back to the future etc. so I’m not sure how it would end. I don’t know if I’ll watch the rest of the show, it’s not really grabbed me. The concept is interesting enough but I don’t care about any of the characters, and it’s characters that keep me watching. I might give it another episode or two and see.

Question for discussion– in this scene from 6×10, Rumple used hairs from both himself and Belle in an attempt to find Gideon. But in 2×12, he used the same magical object to track Bae, using only his own blood. I’m wondering why he used a different method for Gideon.

My speculation is that he already tried using just his blood and it didn’t work. Using the hairs from both of them (and bearing in mind hairs were the ingredient for bottling true love) would presumably be a more powerful way of doing it. When that failed as well, that is when he said to Belle
“He’s gone. I used strands of our hair, our essence, to track him. He’s not here. He’s nowhere.” – I think that’s when he started to panic.

To get rid of unwanted suitors, Belle declares that she will only marry the man who can spin gold. Rumplestiltskin hears of this and shows up to make fun of the nobles and getting them to panick. He is the one who does though, when Belle is willing to keep her word. Now Rumple has a bride he didn’t plan for and he can’t just let her out of the ‘deal’ without losing his reputation of nobody getting out of a deal with him.

*smashes the need button*

I can just imagine his wait… wut? face when he realizes she’s dead serious. It’s got all the things we need: marriage of inconvenience, possible bed sharing shenanigans, Dork One, and of course panty melting smut.

WANT

I really need this

Why would Belle ask for such a random and yet specific quality? Either she’s targeting Rumple (seems unlikely as his skill wasn’t well known, Avonlea offered him gold for his help), or she doesn’t think it’s possible and therefore she won’t have to marry anyone. That also seems unlikely because Cora was only the previous generation and I highly doubt she was allowed to stop spinning when she got married. I’m sure King Xavier’s kingdom did very well for itself thanks to all that gold. It makes you wonder why King George’s kingdom was so bankrupt, perhaps because King Xavier’s kingdom had driven up the prices for everything?

But back to the prompt. Why would Belle specify spinning for gold? Maybe someone like Regina put the idea in her head? Either Regina thought it would amuse Rumple to play with the nobles (as the prompt suggests) and never imagined Belle would insist on going through with it, or Regina thought it would be amusing for some reason. Perhaps Avonlea was a key trade point and she thought it would weaken them for a takeover, perhaps she thought that Belle might offer Snow sanctuary and acted preemptively. There’s lots of possibilities and I find Enchanted Forest politics fascinating oops.

This would be quite interesting of course after Rumple finds himself falling in love with Belle, and then discovers Regina’s part in how it all got started …

I’ve been watching the anti-Belle comments add up on this transcript post ever since the night the episode aired, and didn’t respond till now b/c I considered those transcripts to be something I put out there for the fandom to use as they want, and people are allowed to have their opinions even if I disagree with them.

(That said, if I do the transcripts for 6B, I’ll be adding a request to each one that if people want to make anti comments about either character, not to do it on the transcript post. People are allowed to have their opinions, but I don’t want hateful opinions associated with my blog.)

But I’m finally speaking up on that particular scene, b/c I just don’t get it. What, exactly, did Belle say that was so awful?

She told him that she wouldn’t allow him to tamper with their son’s fate, like any mother defending their child would do. She reiterated that she believes him to be capable of love, and capable of being a good man. She asked him to be that good man and good father who earns his son’s love, rather than taking it by magical force.

She accused him of being afraid of failing, of being weak. That seems to be the point which really provoked many fans’ wrath. I saw that as her challenging him. She’s always challenged him, right from the beginning. She still thinks he can be a good, decent man…not a perfect one, just a good one. How is challenging him to be good, such an awful thing?

I just don’t understand where all the hate is coming from, based on that one short scene.

You said I could respond, so here’s my response 🙂 Obviously I can only speak for me. I come from the perspective that I support both Rumple and Belle, I don’t side with one over the other, I try and see both sides. That being said I had a real problem with this scene. Why is that?

Under the cut for length. Also in case this doesn’t get copied in the tags, warning for discussion of mental illness.

I know that’s Sergei and he doesn’t get a Belle because he’s Evil with a capital E, but just take his look and not his background. That’s Gold, a slick talent agent and Belle French, a rising star at her first Venice film festival. It could be set in the past before the festival was shutdown, or in the present after it was brought back.

Venice film festivity! I like it!

(Ack! Yes, I too know that Sergei is on the Blacklisted Bobbies, but goddammit his face is too pretty not to like! Good thing he is talent agent!Gold though! :3)

I know! He looks so good as Sergei, it’s just unfair. So I definitely approve of re-purposing the pictures for inspiration 🙂 I have a few Sergei gifsets in my queue. I thought looking at a couple of them that he looked like a spy.

So secret agent!Gold is meeting a contact in Venice – Gaston. Now Gaston’s cover is that he is travelling with his girlfriend the fashion model Belle French. When Gaston is killed, Gold has to protect Belle from bad people who also want her dead because they believe she knows something/has a flash drive/I don’t know something like that.

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS I WOULD PAY ACTUAL CURRENCY TO READ THAT WTF YES PLEASE
CAN THIS BECOME A THING PLEASE?
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST THE PREMISE SOUNDS AMAZING, I CAN’T EVEN FATHOM HOW AMAZING THIS WOULD BE WHEN ACTUALLY WRITTEN INTO A STORY WHAT EVEN
*DIES*
*IS DEAD*

The Secret Agent AU yeah? I … might be persuaded to hook you up. I mean my work in progress list is scary long and I can’t promise when I’ll finish anything, but it could be a thing at some point. Oh who am I kidding? I actually started typing (I have no self-control) and this is how I thought it could start …

“The names Legume, Gaston Legume,” Gaston introduced himself with a wink and a tip of his martini glass.

“Bloody wonderful,” Gold muttered.

It wasn’t bad enough that they’d dragged him out of retirement; his supposed contact was a James Bond wannabe. Still it was just a simple retrieval mission, what could possibly go wrong?
