There’s a lot I like about swtor and one of the parts I really like are class quests so I’m an altoholic in this game. The part about patch 1.2 that I was most interested in seeing was the expansion of the legacy system. Unfortunately it isn’t all I hoped it would be. I don’t like negative posts so this isn’t just a rant, promise. Also, this is three days late but better late than never right?
Blackrock Mountain: The Crowning Glory
I missed the scheduled post on Saturday as I didn’t have one in reserve and was too lazy to type one up. Having a schedule is a good thing as it does force me to keep up with this whereas otherwise I would let it slip. However, a too demanding schedule would burn me out completely. Therefore I’m going to cut down to twice a week, a Saturday post and a Tuesday/Wednesday post. Anyway, back on topic, I was thinking the other day about Blackrock Mountain and how often I go there.
Mog My Closet: Scarlet Monastery (Lookalike)
When I was writing the post about transmogrification I suddenly thought that I could do a weekly feature on it. I love creating transmog sets and I don’t have the time (or the bank space) to collect half of them. Therefore it seems like a good plan to share them and if someone likes the set then they can use it themselves. I’ll post this on Tuesdays so it’ll be something to look at during the downtime Wednesday mornings. I forgot to post this on Tuesday and I haven’t written one for today yet so thought I’d post this today. From now on it’ll be Tuesdays. Starting off today with a Scarlet Monastery set for plate wearers who are locked out of the mail after the level 40 armor specialization.
The Ultimate MMO
Now for something a little different. Yesterday evening I logged on to warcraft and ran Firelands in the continuing quest to get our priest the legendary staff for the guild. I then had dinner and afterwards logged swtor and played through Korriban with my new sith warrior. Perhaps it was playing them in quick succession that made me wonder about the ultimate mmo. The ultimate mmo isn’t warcraft and it’s not swtor, it would be a mixture of both and more. So this is my recipe for my dream mmo.
Solo United Nations
In Cataclysm guild achievements were introduced and one of these was United Nations (55 exalted reputations). Now this was supposed to be a group effort but in the early days of cata this achievement was bugged, rather than taking everybody’s exalted reputations, removing duplicates and that being the number, it just went off whoever had the most exalted reputations. Some guilds still got this achievement before it was fixed as it is possible to solo. When Mists comes out part of this has the potential to be irrelevant. New factions will be introduced and these will (in all likelihood) be easier to max out than some of the vanilla factions. So I’ll break the guide up into difficulty level.
Playing dress up
When patch 4.3 dropped, we didn’t just get a new raid tier to play with, we got two new game changing features, LFR and transmogrification. Before transmog your character wore whatever gear had the best stats and if they looked like a clown, they looked like a clown. Tier sets had a cohesive look but tier doesn’t cover everything so the boots might not match. Even if everything did match it might not be to your taste, I personally loathe paladin tier sets that look like dresses. So transmog is a huge feature.
Saving for those big ticket items
I’m a saver in game and out. I much prefer my money to sit in the bank accumulating than spend it. I don’t feel safe unless I have at minimum a certain balance. After all you never know what might happen. Therefore, it’s not really much of a surprise when I realised the other day that I was applying those same beliefs in warcraft. How then can a committed saver buy the mount that they’ve wanted ever since they saw it? I’m talking of course about the motorbike.
Swtor wishlist
Given that swtor is still a very new game, and consequently that neither I or anyone has been playing it that long, it’s not really fair to have a wishlist. After all, it’s not really had time to refine itself the way warcraft has so it seems a bit mean. Then again it still is refining itself so a list of what I’d like to see on swtor’s to do list isn’t out of line.
Account Wide Achievements and the Sands of Time
Mists beta is out! Mists beta is out! *Jumps up and down* I thought it would be within a month but just days after monday is so cool. No invite for me yet so I’ll have to be patient and remember a watched pot never boils. Refreshing my battle.net account every 5 minutes won’t make the invite come any faster, it’ll probably be days/weeks before it comes. I do suck at being patient though.
Being an achievement nut achievements are a big deal to me. When it was announced that achievements might be going account wide I wasn’t sure what to feel. It was troubling that’s for sure as if it wasn’t implemented right then it could mess a lot up. As I promised on Mists Monday achievements get their own post as they are the most important part of warcraft to me. However, the post wasn’t long enough on it’s own and another topic I’ve been meaning to write about for a while is the effect of time on achievements. All of this after the break.
Mists Monday
We interrupted your regularly scheduled posts because it’s ‘Mists Monday’! The nda on last weeks press event has been lifted and there’s lots, and lots, and lots of new information. I sat down and quickly skimmed it all this morning but that’s no way to process so consider this my processing. What does the fourth xpac have in store for us?
