Fanfic ask meme – 14: Your favorite side pairings to put in? 18: How old were you when you started writing?

14) Your favorite side pairings to put in?
Swanfire is probably the one I work in most often. I ship them šŸ™‚ Snow/Mary Margaret and David are probably a close second. Generally speaking though what side pairings are in a story, kinda depends on what characters are in the story. Given that my stories are Rumbelle-centric, the side characters are generally Bae/Neal, which easily brings in Emma and her family. So that’s kinda why it works out like that.

With some past fics I’ve done for gift exchanges, I had somebody want Ruby and Victor Whale as a pairing, so I did that. I don’t particularly ship it but I did like the convo they had together in season two. There was some common ground there. I really, really ship BraveWarrior. To be honest I want to write fic with them as the main pairing, and I always do a happy dance if I can work it in as a side pairing, or I read it as a side pairing in someone else’s fic.

So yeah basically Swanfire and BraveWarrior are myĀ ā€œother shipsā€ for Once šŸ™‚ However, if the story demands or people want, I’d probably write in almost any pairing for background characters.

18) How old were you when you started writing?
I’m not sure, how do you define writing? I think I started spinning stories almost as soon as I learnt to read, and I was 3 when I started reading. In terms of actual written down stories, it’s hard to remember. I definitely still have some scribbles I did from when I was 8-9, but I think I was probably 11 when I wrote my first complete story. So in the strictest terms I’ve been writing stories for over 15 years. If we’re more generous on what constitutes ā€˜writing’ then it’s probably closer to two decades. I feel old now.

Ask Me? Writing Questions

Hey, your artwork is so sweet! Can I ask what you are working in at the moment?

*attack hug* thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked it! *happy dance* šŸ™‚

I have another art project in mind, one that’s *gulp* even more ambitious. I get pretty obsessed once I start a drawing though, so I’m not going to let myself even start it until after RCIJ. So yeah end of summer/early autumn for that.

Regarding writing. I’m struggling so much right now. It’s like words have just vanished. Although I haven’t actually even sat down and stared at a word doc this month. I love writing, writing is my life really but I got so down on myself about it last month that I’ve been avoiding it really. Everything I wrote last month was like pulling teeth, I just had this constant screaming in my head that it was all awful and why was I bothering, who was I kidding I’m a terrible writer etc. etc. so yeah I should really suck it up and try again.

So projects – WIP’s of course *hides in box of shame and drowns in guilt*, then there’s RCIJ as I mentioned. I have an idea for next months Monthly Rumbelling non-smut prompt that I’d like to write so there’s that. Then there’s also lots of other ideas (I have a big list) but I should really work on my WIP’s. I feel so bad that they’ve been neglected this long. I want to write them, I want to finish them, and I will. Believe me they have not been forgotten.

I hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for asking it! Also thank you again for your kind words *hugs you* it means a lot šŸ™‚

TMI Tuesday! Counting Stars!Belle and Gold – how did you come up with the name Nadia for your daughter?

image

Belle: We looked through a book of names. Nadia means hope which just seemed perfect. It also sounds slightly unusual, or a little old-fashioned, just like Baeden or Alistair. Nadia Gold just felt right.

Gold: A perfect name for our perfect daughter. She’s just as brilliant and sweet and curious as her mother.

Belle: And as stubborn as her father perhaps? I think her first complete sentence was ā€œdo it myself!ā€

Gold: *laughs* I think she gets that from both of us sweetheart.

@rowofstars thanks for the tag šŸ™‚

Five Things Meme
really begs the question of what about these five things? Is it things I love? Things I don’t like? The first five that come to mind? Sure why not go with the last one, checking my history I’ve already done the five I love so that might be different.

One song: Odd One by Sick Puppies
Two films: National Treasure, Captain America: Civil War
Three shows: Leverage, Flashpoint, Stargate SG-1
Four people: Lana Parrilla, Tony Amendola, Chloe Bennett, Clark Gregg
Five foods:Ā bacon, yogurt, roast pork, casserole (I don’t even like that, what is with that brain?), pringles.

Conclusion, my brain is random and a little bit scary…

Stargate Atlantis

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?:Ā It’s Stargate! Ok I’m going to try and not write an essay about how much I love this show – keyword being try šŸ™‚ I mean SG1 will always be my favorite of the three (sorry Rush) but Atlantis gave us well ^^ Atlantis! Oh I love that city so much, and the jumpers, and all the lore about the Ancients. Oh the unwritten fic I have spinning in my mind – so many stories! The theme music is incredible (seriously whoever did the music for Stargate is a genius) and I love the new characters.

I mean the show isn’t perfect, I’m slightly bitter even now that Elizabeth Weir was recast for the show, Sam Carter didn’t have enough screentime during season four, there were some dodgy storylines and initially they overfocused on the wraith. Oh yeah I said I wasn’t going to write an essay about this show … basically it’s brilliant! Not perfect but very enjoyable and a great part of the Stargate franchise, which is my favorite TV show of all time.

The Walking Dead

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?:Ā Just the title I’m afraid is enough for me to run a million miles in the opposite direction. I’m a big coward about stuff like that. It’s just really not my thing at all. I’m loads better than I used to be, ten years ago and I wouldn’t have been able to stomach watching a lot of the sci-fi I absolutely love now. However, I think thatĀ ā€˜walking dead’ is a step too far – or actually who knows? Like I just said ten years ago and the goa’uld on stargate would have creeped me out, maybe in another ten years I’ll be able to manage the walking dead šŸ™‚

Ask Me? TV Series or Movie

Grimm

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?: From reading the synopsis I should like Grimm. Someone I know in real life recommended it to me given my love of Once Upon a Time. I tried it ages ago, probably around the same time I tried Chuck. I went through a slew of shows testing them out to see what I’d like. I confess I didn’t make it through the first episode of Grimm. I’m not entirely sure now (in other words I don’t remember) what made me goĀ ā€œnope don’t like youā€ so quickly, because I do generally try and give things a fair shake. There was obviously something though or I wouldn’t have responded like that. Sorry!

TV Series: Chuck

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?: This was on netflix, so free for me to watch. It’s the same story as with Lucifer really. I didn’t find anything objectionable about Chuck, it’s just nothing about it grabbed me either. It was ok. I watched the first few episodes and just decided I didn’t want to invest my time. I get more enjoyment out of rewatching the shows I love.

Lucifer

Nah | haven’t seen yet | didn’t like/gave up | like it | love it | highly recommend.

Why?:Ā This is on Prime so it’s free for me to watch. A lot of people I follow love it and so I decided to give it a try. I watched the first few episodes and it was ok. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. I might watch more in future if I feel like it, I might not. I really didn’t have any kind of strong feelings one way or another. It was very so-so for me. I guess nothing about it particularly grabbed me.
