My first TMI Tuesday in about a month yay 🙂 PSA tumblr is extra annoying on an iPad but I have prevailed! Anyway, I am at uni today but I have a three hour break before my next lecture. Never Have I Ever – Belle and Gold meeting at work?

Oh good one! My instinct was to say I hadn’t written this but then I thought I had and started linking to a couple of fics. Then I re-read what you’d said and realized my first instinct was correct. I have fics where they met at work but that meeting isn’t chronicled in the fic. Unless of course just one of them being at work counts but I’m sensing no – I’m overthinking this aren’t I?

Anyway I don’t think I have.

That means I need to do the next part of this ask game and say how I’d write it if I did. Hmm well I am quite fond of my prosecutor!Gold and cop!Belle verse so I could maybe write when they met. That was when Gold got assigned Belle’s case against Cora Mills. Honestly that’s the only thing that’s coming to mind right now. I have lots of ideas on my list but none where Belle and Gold are colleagues when they meet. Hope this suffices! 🙂

Have you ever considered revising one of your Rumbelle fics and trying to publish it professionally?

That depends on what you mean by ‘publish professionally’. I have no intention to shop around for an agent and try and get signed by a trad publisher. The small outfits aren’t worth it and it’s more likely to win the lottery twice than get signed up one of the big five as an unknown.

I do however have the intention to indie publish and I’ve done more than consider it. At the moment I’m in the planning stage. I’ve picked three fics (2 published, 1 that’s in my WIP folder) and I’ve sketched a series arc linking them together. They would need to be massively expanded obviously into full length novels but the core details are already in place.

That’s the most concrete step towards adaptation that I’ve done so far but I’ve identified several other fics that I think would be good starting points for solo novels, or work well together either combined into one book or into a series. Obviously especially as an indie author it’s much better to publish a series rather than a standalone so ideally I’ll make everything work together somehow. There’s more marketing options for series, it helps hook and retain readers etc. I could go on heh.

So basically yeah I’ve given it a lot of thought.

How do I know? Because I’ve actually already written some 🙂

I got fed up with being too busy to write, then when I had time being too brain dead to focus (I really need to learn how to write when I’m tired) but I digress. I said that I was going to get myself sorted this weekend and I did!

That productivity app I mentioned earlier? I used that and the default calendar app to map out my schedule. Following advice in a book (Lifelong writing habit) and because I know I respond to routine better I decided the same time everyday was best. So this morning I set my alarm for 5.50am to give myself a guaranteed solid hour between 6 and 7 to write.

I know I’ve only done it once and the real test is doing it everyday but I’m feeling pretty stoked that I actually got up and did it. The day had a 5 in the number and it’s Sunday, the urge to stay in bed where it was warm was massive, but my desire to write was greater. Also yesterday I did 6 hours of uni work so I’m feeling pretty accomplished right now. That’s a great feeling 🙂

The app is called Wunderlist, I have it on iPhone but I think there’s an android version. What I love about it is first and foremost it’s free. I love free, it meant it was easy to try out without wasting money.

Anyway you can create lots of lists, you can put the lists in folders, I think (though haven’t needed to use yet) that you can create sub-lists as well. I have a folder entitled “Uni” and then lists for each of my modules for example. So tasks can be broken down and organized for easy viewing.

It’s relatively simple in that I just put the title of what I’m doing e.g. “The Price We Pay Prompts” and then I set a deadline for when I want it done (this Tuesday) and there’s an option to have a reminder set. The reminder can be on push notification and/or emailed.

Once tasks are in there the app itself creates smart lists labelled “tomorrow” and “this week” so at the touch of a button all the tasks from the various lists are compiled into one screen so I can see what’s upcoming. It’s not particularly revolutionary but just having everything written down in one place is a relief on it’s own. I’m always scared I’m going to forget something important.

As I said I’m using that in conjunction with the calendar app. Now I have a clear overview of what I need to do, I have an idea of how much time I need to do it. So I’m blocking out time on my calendar to hopefully ensure it happens. It’s still early days, I have no clue whether it will work long-term but I’m pretty pleased with how it’s ticking on at the moment.

I’ve finally repopulated my queue yay heh *rolls eyes at self*.

Anyway a bit of a PSA I realized just now that I reblogged a Star Trek: Discovery gifset earlier this week without a spoiler tag. That’s because it was Friday and the episode had aired Monday so I didn’t really think twice about it. I think I kinda thought to myself that the show had only aired once, so if I tagged it as spoilers then I’d have to tag everything as spoilers and that just felt silly.

I saw today though that some people are still tagging spoilers. So yeah PSA I won’t be tagging spoilers on this show. Not unless it’s within three days of it airing because I do that with Once and I think that’s fair enough. I don’t want to spoil anyone and make them sad, hence this rambling post 🙂

Netflix is seriously awesome by the way. I’m loving all the rights they have to broadcast stuff. Now if only they could get Agents of Shield away from channel 4 that would be great!

Sadly Netflix doesn’t have the right to air Discovery in the USA. Aka: I miss out.

I’m confused I thought it aired on CBS in America? I mean Netflix have it for the UK because it’s an American show. I thought you guys got it first. If you don’t then that’s very wrong. I mean I hate waiting and think shows should air internationally within a day of each other (because of time zones) but the country of origin should get it first – that’s only fair!

Anyway “I miss out” isn’t ambiguous at all so I’m just so very sorry *hugs you tightly* I do tag all the posts with ‘star trek: discovery’ but I can use another tag if that helps you. Anything that you need *hugs you again*

Aww. You are a sweetheart. No worries about the tags! If it comes across my dash, it comes 🙂 All I know is that it was on CBS Stream, I thought it was exclusively there. If it airs on cable I do not know, I don’t have cable at all.

Ahh CBS ‘Stream’ that explains why I thought it was on CBS /facepalm. I’m guessing the Stream part makes it some kind of premium service. Well CBS sucks! That kinda goes against the spirit of Star Trek IMO. Profiteering arseholes! I’m really sorry *hugs again*

I don’t have cable either or satellite or any other kind of paid for TV. I get really annoyed when shows I love announce “we are airing in the UK” as I get all excited before I read that it’s on some paid channel I don’t have. That’s why I’m so gleeful about Netflix having the rights to some things. They air it swiftly as opposed to some UK channels (*glares* at channel 5) that hold onto things for over a year for no reason known, and of course I have Netflix. That’s affordable, a cable package would be at minimum about 7x as much per month so no way.

I’m trying out this productivity app and I like it and everything but …

I can’t cross stuff out.

Does that make me old? It’s just for me half the goodness of a ‘to do’ list is crossing off the tasks when I’ve done them. Just tapping the screen and having them disappear isn’t in anyway satisfying.

#actually in all honesty since starting uni i have been feeling increasingly old#although there is also the disturbing realization that there are kids starting high school now that weren’t born until after i graduated#how did i get to be so old? i still feel like i’m barely 19 and actually i can pass for 19 very few people believe i’m 27#i did the math and i’m closer in age to some of the lecturers than my fellow students#i printed out my timetable and i write my assignments in a diary rather than reaching for my phone#i still feel old though no matter how young i look#in fact i’d left the university for the first time before my fellow students started high school#they had a find us on social media slide and i didn’t know what half the icons were

No, you’re not old. Well, if you are then I’m old as well. Actually, I’m 27 too so this is probably a moot point. Come sunday I will be making my ‘pre-christmas jobs’ list which is long-hand and usually runs to three pages, and colouring the ones I’ve done in highlighter pens is so incredibly satisfying.

Oooooh color coding? I like that! I have some amazing highlighters actually. I call them the best highlighters in the world because a) they don’t dry out and b) they somehow don’t get dirty, they are just always perfect. I have no clue where I got them but I always like having an opportunity to use them.

I hope you have fun with your jobs list! I’m going to plot how I can use my highlighters somehow 🙂 I mean the phone on the list is portable and efficient as it has all the data re: deadlines etc. in the same small space. It’s just not as satisfying, there has to be some sort of middle ground, hmm…

Morning all! 🙂

Induction week is now over – phew heh (that was tiring) and I finally have my schedule for the semester. Things will be a bit shaky for the first couple of weeks as I settle into the new routine. For the next couple of weeks I’m planning on timing myself so I roughly know how long it takes to do my prep-reading for class etc. BUT this weekend I’m going to try and get myself organized. I feel like I have enough intel now to plot out a loose plan for doing things.

I’ve been really rubbish last month or so because I felt like I was in a holding pattern, like there was no point in starting a new routine really because it was all going to change once I started uni. Well I’ve now started and I’m super pumped (and still somewhat terrified) but I’m going to try and ride the wave of positivity and get myself sorted. I’m someone that has to have everything squared away before I can start, if life is too ‘up in the air’ or haphazard then I’m just frozen in fear about forgetting stuff etc. and can’t do anything.

So yeah I’m still here, and stuff will be happening, just bear with me while my life completely changes 🙂
