6.08 – I’ll Be Your Mirror (Review)

image

Last night I watched Sunday’s episode. It took me two hours because I kept having to pause it to make notes. You know I think tumblr did me a favor by taking the edge off because watching it was nowhere near as awful as I thought. Plus writing my fix-it fanfic, made me really try and get in Belle’s head and suddenly the episode started to make more sense.

Now I can’t speak as to the promo for next week because yikes that did look terrible. However, for Sunday’s episode? I said I would try to find some hope and you know what, I think I found some. It took me a while to persuade myself to write this up, I had so many notes and I’m lazy. However, I did it eventually.

Spoilers for 6.08 – I’ll Be Your Mirror under the cut.

Wow!

I know, I’m mega behind on finding out news but Jaime Murray has got cast in Once? Oh yes! I have loved her since her Hustle days, which I think was her first big break. Sorry, I just love it when actors show up in other shows. It’s something of a hobby of mine, naming where I know all the guest actors from, without resorting to IMDB 🙂

#I now have another reason to watch next weeks scary episode

Ooooooh idea! Is it possible to write a fix-it fic without seeing the episode? Because I have a theory – it’s all in the floof.

Evil alternate universe. Spock grew a beard, Rumple has short hair. There was an accidental switch while using the dream dust.

OR to fit better with the show’s current Jekyll and Hyde theme …

Rumple used the serum on himself, and his evil side was stronger, and the real Rumple is locked up somewhere, while the dark one roams free. To distinguish between the two of them when there’s the eventual showdown, and also as foreshadowing to hint at the switch – the evil version cut his hair.

It’s all in the floof.

Do it! That sounds so much better than the canon.

I did the thing!

Broken Apart

Wow.

I haven’t seen seen Sunday’s episode but I could tell something monumentally bad had happened from an icon change, and I couldn’t wait until Wednesday to find out what. So I’ve seen next weeks promo and read a summary and there are no words.

I felt a few times in season five, that I’d slipped into an alternate reality because nothing made sense. This goes beyond that. This show hasn’t just gone off the rails, it’s unrecognizable. I’m still going to watch Sunday’s episode for myself on Wednesday, and I’ll still try and search for ways to explain it that are consistent with the characters. I don’t know if I’ll have any hope to offer but I’ll try my best.

Headcanon can fix a lot of things but to quote Rumple himself “some things can’t be undone” and while I’m still positive that Rumbelle will reunite because a) they are an iconic Disney couple, b) the movie next year. I don’t know how they are going to do that right now with any integrity. I’m concerned that it’ll just be forced march plotting again, and all of this will just be pushed under the rug. No consequences, nothing will make sense.

Anyway …

If nothing else, we control our fix-it fics. I’ll be updating mine tomorrow 🙂

6.07 – Heartless (Review)

Ok I just watched this episode, and I know I say this every week. Seriously the best part of season six is the amazing turn Lana Parrilla is doing as the Evil Queen, and then the different take on the same character as Regina, which is different from the Regina of the last few seasons. Honestly, it’s a master class in acting.

Anyway, I’m not as positive as usual because the writing kinda got to me. Sorry I do try my best, but on my blog I called this weeks post ‘like a really bad fanfic’ because that’s kinda what I thought.

Spoilers under the cut.

@robertcarlyle_ OUAT Tonight #Dontknowwhattosay

I saw this tweet just now and urk so freaking excited. I keep telling myself not to be because the scene probably isn’t going to go anyway I would like, but ahhhh that picture! All the feels! Seriously I’ve been doing major soundless gesturing at the screen (because I’m with other people) and just eeeeek I can’t wait to watch!! 🙂

Crackpot Theory

This is based on the most recent filming spoilers.

I wish you could quote on tumblr. sgtmac7 said:

They yell at him to not do this (Belle says “You don’t have to do this” and Rumple says, “Stop,…”), Emma says something like stay back or I’ve got this, there’s a fight and Morpheus gets tossed in front of them, he’s defeated and then it’s like everyone is unfrozen (I assume Emma froze them) and then Rum and Belle just…walk off? Like they don’t engage again. So a poof or a dream.

My crackpot theory …

Emma is the savior because of the first dark curse. Rumple linked her into the curse, as a ‘safety valve’ to ensure that it was broken, with a drop of her parents true love potion on the scroll. Throughout 5B they kept going on about how Rumple made Hook’s sacrifice meaningless. What if he did it again? What if he steals Emma’s thunder?

Regina cast the curse, from 4B we know Rumple didn’t actually create the curse but he certainly altered it to suit his ends. The first dark curse created Storybrooke. The subsequent dark curses, didn’t use the scroll, they weren’t cast in the same way, they were just following the threads of magic that the first dark curse had established.

Rumple and Emma are linked already. He took the power of “all the dark ones” which would include the recent Dark Swan. What if he transfers the threads of magic, that make Emma the savior to himself? That would be why Emma doesn’t die – she’s no longer the savior. However, it would be taking away what makes Emma special. The Charming’s, Hook and Emma herself wouldn’t approve, even if they understood what he was doing. Rumple probably wouldn’t explain it, so they would think he was doing something bad.

If Belle knew what he was doing, then she would say something like “you don’t have to do this” because all saviors die. Maybe Rumple does it because of Morpheus, and because of Belle. He thinks he doesn’t have anything to live for, and he wants to be the hero that Excalibur deemed him to be. Perhaps he thinks that it will save his son, and if Rumple has proved anything it’s that he’ll do anything to save his kids.

I saw a theory, I think from thatravenclawbitch, saying that maybe the multiple saviors, and then the death of the savior/tremors etc. came about when a new savior was about to be born. Aladdin got his tremors before the dark curse and Emma’s birth, now Emma is getting hers after the Rumbelle baby is conceived, so maybe Morpehus is going to grow up to be a savior.

Wouldn’t Rumple do anything to stop that? To save his child from that fate? Even if he had to take it on for himself?

I know I’m predisposed to think of Rumple as being the hero they need, and this theory doesn’t address what Regina and Robin were doing there, or how adult Morpheus is the guy in the hood. However, I like the theory anyway. Maybe Regina and Robin are in a magical dimension part of Storybrooke, because Regina cast the curse, and so she’s helping Gold sever Emma’s ties to it. Robin is her delusion/manifestation of something and therefore invisible to everyone else.

I don’t know what is going on with Morpehus. I’m leaning towards someone (maybe Jafar) wearing the future Rumbelle babies face. So some of the Morpheus appearances are him genuinely being the future Rumbelle child, and others are of him being the bad guy pretending to be the Rumbelle kid. It could also be time travel, or something else.

Anyway, that’s my crackpot theory 🙂

6.06 – Dark Waters (Review)

I called my post on this episode on my blog “One Brief Shining Moment” because it was a bit like that. Awesome and then … falling flat, but I get into it all of that in my rambling review 🙂

Anyway, I’m just going to say one thing above the cut – I am not worried about Rumbelle! In fact I found lots of good things to say, hence me tagging my post for Rumbelle positivity again.

Spoilers for the episode and next weeks promo under the cut.

Wanted poster

samoyedjack:

Proposal: Kitsowitz and all writers leave the show. You are now in charge. How do you fix the show?

I mean all of it. Bring back the audience. Don’t just wish fulfill your OTP, design a show that will be popular and ongoing.

I explored a little bit of this in my alternate seasons six fanfic. Ultimately it comes down to three things in my opinion – consequences, continuity and expectations.

Under the cut for length.
