Favourite animal: Dogs in abstract. I love cuddly toy puppies, I love pictures of dogs but I donā€™t like any animal in person.

Favourite OUaT couple (romantic or not): Rumbelle obviously. Swanfire, BraveWarrior, I liked what little I saw of GlassBeliever. For Brotp I like Regina and Rumpleā€™s snarkfest, Rumple and Bae/Neal, Regina and Henry, Rumple and Henry, Belle and all of the above.

Favourite OUaT character: Rumple, no question. Regina is a close second.

Favourite episode OUaT: Hmm I donā€™t know. Quite a few come to mind but for different reasons. ā€œThe Crocodileā€, ā€œLaceyā€ or maybe ā€œThe Outsiderā€ – ā€œManhattanā€ of course or ā€œDesperate Soulsā€. Too many to choose from!

Favourite actor OUaT: Robert Carlyle. Although I will definitely be following Lanaā€™s career post-Once. I canā€™t wait to see what sheā€™s in next.

Favourite season: Season 2 no question. Season 1 would come second and then each subsequent season in turn going down. There were some bright spots in each but season 2 shone the brightest by far.

Favourite sport to watch: I donā€™t watch sports. I donā€™t think I have the ā€¦ oh whatā€™s the word? I donā€™t like watching sports, I donā€™t enjoy live music, I donā€™t feel like anything is gained from ā€˜being thereā€™. Thereā€™s a word and I canā€™t think. Basically I only watch scripted TV/movies. There are a couple of exceptions. I find QI and The Grand Tour quite amusing and Iā€™ll watch say Location, Location, Location while Iā€™m doing the ironing but thatā€™s it. Come to think of it, this is probably why Iā€™m constantly asking my friend ā€œhave you seen ā€¦?ā€ And they say no because Iā€™ve managed to watch far more scripted TV as I donā€™t watch any other kind pretty much.

Favourite Disney film: The Princess Diaries. Itā€™s my feelgood film. I watch it when Iā€™m unwell or sad. I have no idea why but Iā€™ve loved it for the past 15 years. Iā€™ve watched it so many times I could probably quote the entire thing.

Favourite drink: Well I pretty much just drink water, so that I guess.

Coffee or tea?: Black coffee, no sugar, large mug. Need at least two before I start functioning I swear.

A Character You Liked At First But Donā€™t Anymore:

  1. Hmm, I canā€™t think of one to be honest. I havenā€™t watched all of season 4 and so if Four crosses too far over the line then maybe him. Otherwise, like with One, I didnā€™t like them to begin with very much /shrug.
  2. Castle and to a lesser extent Beckett but that wasnā€™t really the characters fault (I could rant but I wonā€™t).
  3. I donā€™t know. Farscape is such a weird show that even the characters I donā€™t really like still sort ofĀ ā€˜fitā€™.

A Character You Did Not Like At First But Now Do:

  1. Three grew on me. I liked Six more initially but nope Three is where itā€™s at now heh.
  2. Canā€™t think of one sorry.
  3. Can I say the whole cast? I know thatā€™s random but the first time I tried watching this show my eyes bugged out (it was just too weird) but then tumblr kept putting gifs on my dash and I just had to watch and Iā€™m so glad I did. Yes the characters are weird, yes things donā€™t make sense sometimes but there was a lot to love. Who would have thought a puppet could become such a beloved character imbued with so much personality?

Falcon: Which fictional character would you like to hang out with?
Which fictional character wouldnā€™t I like to hang out with? Hehe. No in all seriousness I guess it would be better if I wasnā€™t completely starstruck. Iā€™m thinking Jemma Simmons (Agents of Shield) to be honest. I mean sheā€™s awesome so I would be a little starstruck but I think we have enough in common to be able to chat and she has access to all the cool holographic tech. Though as I havenā€™t taken classes at the ā€œshield hogwartsā€ I probably wouldnā€™t get to have a go šŸ™‚

Doctor Strange: Name a special talent you have.
Ouch this is hard. I donā€™t really feel like I have any kind of talent to be honest unless itā€™s on the negative side of the equation. Hmm *wracks brain* I guess Iā€™m quite good at managing money. Is that an ok answer? Urk.

Rocket: What languages do you speak?
*hides in bucket of shame* English – just English. I know a handful of words in other languages like hello, goodbye, thank you, numbers 1-10 etc. but thatā€™s about it. I consider it a crime of my country that we donā€™t teach languages better. I think itā€™s very arrogant of Britain to be honest and we get away with it because other countries learn English and are amazing at it.

I would love to learn a language. I did french at high school but I was useless at it for a number of factors, some out of my control, but the biggest issue I personally had was rules. Obviously English doesnā€™t obey rules either but I somehow learned that naturally (and can I please go back to my toddler self and ask how) and I just got frustrated. I had the singular ability to defy the odds and get 100% wrong on guessing masculine or feminine. My teacher thought I was doing it on purpose and I really wasnā€™t.

This is difficult. Is this grown-up GideonĀ ā€˜raisedā€™ by the Black fairy? Gideon raised by Rumple and Belle? Iā€™m guessing not child!Gideon as we pretty much never saw him. As you didnā€™t specify Iā€™m going to choose and sayĀ ā€œBlack fairy raised Gideonā€ as thatā€™s the one we spent several episodes with.

general opinion: fall in a hole and die | donā€™t like them | eh | theyā€™re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life
hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang

best quality: scheming. I liked how he planned a few moves in advance, anticipated what people would do and was where they would be – not where they were. To be honest thatā€™s a quality I love in Rumple as well. Just being smart about things. Second best is his loyalty. I love his motivations and how heā€™s clever about finding ways round his restrictions to protect those he cares about.

worst quality: struggling to think of one off the top of my head actually. I think thatā€™s because we only really saw him during theĀ ā€˜endgameā€™ so he was at his best. If he hadnā€™t been de-aged my headcanon says his conscience because I think he would have beaten himself up about things he couldnā€™t control, and felt guilty when he couldnā€™t have done different. He was too good and needed to embrace the darkside a little more.

However strictly on paper if Gideon hadnā€™t been deaged then I think Regina would have been a good match. *ducks rotting fruit* I know, Iā€™m sorry. Itā€™s just they both understand darkness, both understand parental expectations.

Regina was never enough for Cora and Gideon would never be the baby his parents lost – never be the son he would have been had they raised him. Regina had to fight for acceptance just like Gideon would after having been in theĀ ā€˜villainā€™ position opposite the Charmingā€™s. I just think they could understand one another and because of that not have to fear showing weakness – instead they could be each others strength when it was needed.

Again this is on paper because we never got a chance to see it on screen but Emma was stripped from her parents just minutes after her birth and returned to them aged 28 – returned to parents who physically arenā€™t old enough to BE her parents just like Belle couldnā€™t be the mother of a 28-year-old.

Nobody else could understand that situation. If Belle and Rumple had another child, nobody else could feel the mixed emotions Emma must have felt when Snow and David had baby!Neal. Are they a replacement? Can they ever love me how they love him because of how we met? Will I always be different? Always the outsider?

Iā€™m trying to think. With all the curses itā€™s hard to remember who is still in Storybrooke but I think Gideon could become good friends with someone who came over with the second/third curse. They wouldnā€™t have cursed memories, they would know what itā€™s like to thrown into a whole new world with a different culture. I know the fourth curse (the black fairyā€™s one) might have given Gideon cursed memories. I donā€™t know.

Oh and of course Henry who would take his dadā€™s place of gleefully dragging Gideon to the movies, and teaching him playstation, and lending him comics and setting up netflix and iTunes/Spotify for this worlds music. I imagine the day after Henry showed Gideon YouTube, he goes wide-eyed and bloodshot to the diner the next day, after not having slept all night. The YouTube rabbit hole is real.

needs to stay away from: Zelena. No explanation necessary right? Yeah.

misc. thoughts: I think Iā€™ve rambled on enough to be honest. 99% of this is headcanon as I did Black Fairy Gideon. I just really liked him. He was everything I like in characters really, except maybe a bit too good (embrace the dark side!) but in truth he was a good balance between Belle and Rumple. I mean in season 6 canon he got Rumple and Belle talking again, and I think if he hadnā€™t been deaged then he would have got them talking more about light and dark until they understood each others viewpoint a bit better.

TLDR: I miss him and I miss the Black Fairy.

5. Did you make an outline for Conspiracy Afloat? Did you stick to it?

Oh yes – on both counts actually.I planned that fic the way I plan a novel, which given that it probably would have been better (and less rushed) if it was novel length kinda made sense. I did a full timeline, scene by scene outline etc. To make sure I didnā€™t mess up and have it be day/night at the wrong time.

You have no idea how tempting it was to goĀ ā€˜off bookā€™ and veer off the outline. I had so much more I wanted to do but that was an RSS fic so it had a strict deadline. It was getting on for 30k I think when it was done anyway, so I really didnā€™t time to expand it. The outline helped me get it done, I donā€™t think I would have managed otherwise.

Heya *waves* thank you so much for the second ask! šŸ™‚ I hope that it wasnā€™t because I got tired and went to bed and you thought tumblr ate the first one. Anyway I answered #12 here so I substituted #13 I hope thatā€™s ok šŸ™‚

13. Aside from fanfic, are there any other fan works youā€™d like to try creating? Fanart, or fanvids, gifsets, or podfic?
Iā€™ve already done some fanart for Rumbelle. I think Iā€™ve already admitted that back in the day *cough* over a decade ago, I did all the fanworks that were a thing back then. I made fanvids, audio mixes, graphics. I did music playlists and created fake CD covers. I ran an indepth fansite for my first ship obsession and does anyone remember fanlistings? Yeah I was all over those.

I even made one of thoseĀ ā€œchoose your own adventureā€ story games *looks through archive* hmm I canā€™t find anything else. Anyway gifsets werenā€™t a thing back then so far as I know and neither was podfic. I would love to be able to make gifs but I donā€™t have the patience. I do actually now have a computer and a program that could do it (that wasnā€™t true a month ago) but I donā€™t have the video files and I really donā€™t need to get into making anything else.

Fanart though. Yeah expect to see more of that from me šŸ™‚

16. Do you have that one fanfic that you wrote a ton for, ages ago, but never posted? Will this be the year, come hell or high water, that it WILL get finished and posted?
I have over 10k on a season 1 AU written, and several thousand in planning for it which goes up to Neverland. That was my first Once Upon a Time fanfic actually and Iā€™ve talked about it a bit. That will never see the light of day though because a) it would be a mammoth project, that 10k only took me up to day 2 of Emma being in Storybrooke and b) Regina had an OC love interest and with this fandoms ship-wars *shudders* I donā€™t dare.

Changed my answer because I forgot about Nightwalkers!! How could I forget about Nightwalkers? I have I think 3 chapters/12k on this and oh sweet merlin yes. Iā€™ve been talking about writing this since summer 2016. So WIPs and then this for sure. Donā€™t let me start anything else *slaps self*

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes in 2018?
Always! Only Iā€™m not quite sure what I havenā€™t done. *thinks* historical maybe? The Beauty and the Tragedy was more gothic/fantasy. Oh heist! I do have that on my list. Hmm I canā€™t think of anything else, anyone care to help me out? šŸ™‚

As for tropes I always find those hard. You know those author questions when it says favourite trope/hated trope? My mind instantly goes blank and I canā€™t think of any tropes and itā€™s the same with this. I wish there was a reference list, that would be so helpful.

12. Will you change anything about the way you edit or rewrite in 2018?
I donā€™t think so because my method has developed over years of practice. Iā€™m not saying itā€™s a good method but it works for me *shrugs*

14. Have you ever lost large chunks of your work in the past, due to not backing up your work? Will you change your methods in 2018?
Actually *touch wood quick* Iā€™ve never lost any work. I donā€™t delete anything either which is why Iā€™ve got 20 year old stories on my hard drive. They are awful because I was nine but they exist.

I keep everything on an external hard drive in case something happens and I need to wipe the PC. I also have a memory stick backup, an email backup and a google drive backup. This is weird because this only applies to my creative files, Iā€™m terrible at remembering to backup anything else. So if the question wasĀ ā€œhave you ever lost anything important?ā€ then ohhhhhh yes šŸ™

15 & 20 for the new year fanfic asks.

15. Do you foresee any personal or professional obstacles in 2018, that would keep you from creating fanworks?
Well ā€¦ yeah heh. Last September I started my second attempt at university. So far, so good, Iā€™ve handed everything in and attended approximately 98% of classes. What marks Iā€™ve had back have been ok and Iā€™d like to keep it that way (or do better) so obviously uni has #1 priority.

Then thereā€™s the fact that Iā€™m me and Iā€™m my own worst enemy. My mental health is a constant battle. I always feel really guilty, like Iā€™m lying to people because itā€™s not that I donā€™t have the time, itā€™s just that I donā€™t have the energy. I liken it to being a video game character with limited resources. Fanworks used to be all I had to do so they got the resources but now thereā€™s uni and quite often I just donā€™t have anything left.

Iā€™m going to do my best so hopefully *crosses fingers* šŸ™‚

20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year?
Yup! I suppose thatā€™s something else that would be an obstacle to creating fanworks. Iā€™ve already admitted that my plans for January are to finish my novel, which probably pushes all fanworks back to February. When I joined tumblr (May 2016) I figured I could do both and for a while that was true. One day it might be true again. I need my mojo back. I wrote 177 words yesterday which is not enough. To doĀ ā€˜all the thingsā€™ I need a lot more.
