He couldn’t blame her for that, she’d been so kind spending the time she had with
him, and he just hoped that they would be able to stay friends.
Belle shifted, slipping off his lap to snuggle back against his side. “Not really but I’ll
leave if you want.”
Besides it was Belle seeing him naked that he feared, when she saw his scars and his
mangled leg, he hoped that she would run a mile. She deserved so much better
than a broken down single father, who couldn’t even make it through the night
without waking sick and shaky from nightmares.

After a minute he dared to glance back over. Neal was absolutely enchanted, hanging
on Belle’s every word. Gold’s hand shook as he stirred the dinner.

“What’s going on?” Young yelled, striding into the gateroom. He caught sight of Belle and moved towards her. “Leave the damn supplies!”
Rush quickly began to run the numbers. The Hammond couldn’t beam them out unless they were on the surface, their best bet would be the Stargate. However, they would have to act quickly, naquadria was notoriously unstable.
Her chestnut colored hair, carefully tied back in a tidy bun, caught his eye first. She gave him a knowing smirk and Rush smiled softly. Belle would never let him hear the end of this.

Idly Belle wondered if Gold knew. She bit her lip, not sure whether to tell him. She
wanted the games to stay as they were until the murderer was caught, and if Gold was furious about a cheating scandal, that might be difficult.
“It was about 3am I think.” Gold shrugged. “Ashley was alive when I left, she was helping clear up the bar. However, I was the first one to actually leave.”
Given the circumstances, it would be easy to get a warrant and Belle kicked herself
for not checking that David had run full financial checks on all of their suspects. Money was a powerful motive.

Neal sat back and scowled. Emma raised an unimpressed eyebrow at him and he tried to scowl harder, but his lips twitched, and he smiled without his consent. He wanted to be grumpy, he felt out of sorts, but it was impossible to maintain a bad mood around Emma.
