Thinking about the future

For the first time today I actually properly contemplated Once Upon a Time ending. I know all things come to an end eventually but I’d not really thought about it much until now.

You want to know what my immediate thought was?

It wasn’t “I hope they wrap things up and don’t leave a cliffhanger.” and it wasn’t “I hope there’s a happy ending for my fave characters” either. Nope.

My immediate thought was “what will Robert Carlyle’s next project be?” so I can watch him in that. I then wondered if he would take some time off, go back to movies, do more directing. I mean there’s season six of Once first but what next?

I hope it’s a character like Rush or Rumple/Gold to be honest. His recent movie (The Legend of Barney Thomson) was a bit weird for me. So I can’t guarantee I would watch whatever it was if I didn’t like it.

This is my random thought for the day I guess. I think it says something about him as an actor that I can watch him in other stuff and not snigger and mutter one characters name to myself.

Like I’ve been watching House lately and I actually saw that years before Once but I quit early on and Jennifer Morrison was a brunette at the beginning, well in season five she’s blonde and I see her on the screen and “Emma Swan!” breaking into a patients apartment (all in the tumblers), giving medicine (I can spell spell) you get the picture.

Usually whatever I see an actor in first gets imprinted. Very few successfully manage to be multiple chars for me. Robert Downey Jr has done it (Sherlock and Iron Man) and Robert Carlyle obviously but not many others.

Two more days until I can watch Last Rites. To be honest at this point I’m more worried I won’t finish my fanfic on time for the 15th. I kinda seen all the spoilers possible (yeah my self control failed).

Wow this just came up on my Twitter feed and yikes it doesn’t take much to read between the lines.

That really does not sound good. Sounds pretty miserable actually. Makes me wonder what the other actors think, and whether they are counting the days till their contracts are up.

They have got their pickup for season 6 and I hope they treat it as their last. I hope they at least make an attempt to wrap things up. I do love this show and once upon a time – heh – I would have wished for it to go and go. Now? No. Not like this.

It’s Sunday so Last Rites will air tonight. I will watch it Wednesday when Netflix UK adds it.

You know the scariest thing about tonight?

How many tumblr posts I’m going to wake up to tomorrow …

If I’m honest I’m not even sure I want to read them. Ignorance could be bliss, I could have three more days of not knowing for sure what happens. Spoilers are not always a good thing.

But then again I have no self control. I just like to know things. Oh the dilemma 🙂

How much will I be screaming at the TV come Wednesday? That is the question.

I really hope that Rumple refuses to help Emma when she goes to him tonight.

The way she treated him when he had no magic was disgusting. The way she used Belle’s life as collateral. In essence saying Hook’s life was worth more. But of course Emma already did that to Henry and her parents when she erased their memories and caused all that stupidity.

I hope Merida punches Emma for taking her heart and controlling her into submission to make her “train” Rumple. And having her try and kill Belle.

Rumple knows he’s a villain and never denies things he’s done.

Emma on the other hand is supposed to be a hero, a savior. Heroes don’t do terrible things to people. Heroes are supposed to save and care about strangers too.
The fact that she only cared about her family and not the lives of others proves that she’s not a hero.

So I really hope that Rumple magically slams the door on her. Or she grovel and acknowledges the hypocrite she had become.

Her methods have been no different than Rumple’s. She acted selfishly. Emma can’t go to Rumple and act as if she is a better person.

If Emma, Hook or any of them turn around demand that Rumple help them when they pretty much spit in Belle’s face then I want him to refuse.

Stop going to Rumple if you can’t admit you’re a hypocrite and don’t trust him.

The hypocrisy of the so-called ‘heroes’ is nauseating.

I would like to add one more example of Emma being pragmatic, and not at all hero like. When she left her sort-of mentor to bleed out and die alone in an alley. A hero would have stayed and applied pressure and accepted the consequences. Emma, ran to save her own skin.

It’s not just Emma either. Snow and Charming also practice “do what I say, not what I do” because if they take action then it’s because they had a ‘good reason’ and then it’s acceptable. If anyone else does it, then they are evil.

It just reaffirms my belief that there is no such thing as heroes or villains, just people that make choices and then have to live with the consequences. Nobody is all good, or all evil – we are both. Life isn’t black and white, it’s grey and the ‘heroes’ should take a good look in the mirror sometime.

A confession

I haven’t written fanfic in over 5 years. I’ve wanted to on numerous occasions but in all honesty I felt a little guilty. The last fanfic I wrote I ended up doing what I hate more than anything with fanfic – I abandoned it. I should really just delete it to hide my shame.

Well I decided to sign up for tumblr a few days ago, rather than keep manually checking the Once Upon a Time blogs I liked. It seems I might not be entirely done with fandom after all. I want to join in with this fluff-fest for the finale. I confess half my reason is because I think it would be a good writing exercise. Me and fluff don’t exactly mix, it would be a good challenge.

However, I don’t really know how to join in. Tumblr is new and I’m not sure how it all works yet. I can make posts ok, and I can follow people ok, everything else is a bit like “how do they do that?” I’m feeling quite dumb over it.

Well I digress. I want prompts, if anyone has any to spare. I thought of two myself this afternoon but one is likely unworkable unfortunately, unless I can think of a really good reason why Rumple and Belle are in England for Christmas. Well actually if I went with that prompt I would want everyone, the whole Charming, Swan, Mills, Gold clan because it would be family fluff. Yeah so even if I ignored the practicalities it likely wouldn’t be appropriate for the Rumbelle fluff.

You know I really hope writing fanfic, is like riding a bike and it’s impossible to forget how, or this post is going to be embarrassing later.

I’m not so good at making gifs. I’d actually not done it before but google saved the day. Anyway, I was thinking this over last night. Tomorrow, we’re going to need to express how we feel and I just thought this line was perfect. I’m just putting it up ready for Sunday’s episode. Well Wednesday for me because I live in the UK and have to wait for netflix.

If the episode goes badly then play the line straight, how it’s intended because we are in trouble.

If the episode goes well, then there’s no need for sarcasm. We thought we were in trouble and it turns out we’re not. So reverse that sucker.

Besides nothing can be truly terrible with a side order of Nicholas Rush to the rescue. I could totally quote and then gif/pic this guy all day.

I am now ready for ‘Last Rites’ and the two-hour finale.

Who exactly is appalling out of character?

Mostly to be honest it’s just Regina who’s actions I can’t explain away as fitting with previous canon. Believe me I contort my mind, to head canon most things so they make sense. So maybe my third fix-it theory (and last because I’ll stop spamming) is that Regina has been replaced with an impostor.

The real Regina is locked up somewhere and man when she busts out she’s going to be mad …

Regina’s the one that’s convincing other people to do crazy things, and they are going along with it because they trust her. Well, the same is true with Emma to some extent, so maybe they are both under glamours and other people entirely.

That leaves the question of who has replaced Regina and why? Well maybe it’s something to do with the completely dropped plot-line of King Arthur and Camelot. It would be nice to have something resolved. Maybe not replaced, perhaps that used that magic dust on her.

Ok that’s three crazy, not at all plausible, fix-it theories.
