Remember when I said I liked working on multiple projects?
That is still true but I’m staring at this fic. I started it two days ago and I had to stop mid-scene. It was a reasonable stopping point but maybe I should have continued. I was so enthusiastic I could hardly get to sleep that night because my mind was bubbling with thoughts about it, I wrote a section for a bit later on my phone but now .. I just can’t get back into it.
Picking projects back up is hard and yes this is me procrastinating. It’s the getting started, it is always the getting started. I think that is the hardest part about writing, once I start then it’s usually ok but that blank page and blinking cursor .. seriously Gold just walk down the damn corridor please!

I’m a bad Trekkie really as my introduction to the franchise was the new reboot movies. I know everyone says the movies aren’t proper Trek and I have tried to watch the TV series. The only series I got into was Enterprise, and it’s no accident it’s the newest. I find if I watch the older shows, I’m not enjoying them as I would a sci-fi show, I’m laughing at how out of date they are, which I know is wrong. I feel bad about it because I want to like them.
It’s weird because I can watch some older shows without a problem. I like Cagney and Lacey, which was 1980′s, same era as Star Trek: TNG, but TNG just feels older. Plus I really can’t stand Wesley Crusher, it feels like he’s special for no reason and makes the other characters OOC, and I always hate characters like that. For me, Skye on Agents of Shield is the same and Sydney on Alias etc. I can’t stand either of them, though I do like both shows, they have other characters which make up for it and I’m getting off topic.
1) Worst job you’ve ever had? I once worked as a web programmer for a small tech firm. My supervisor liked to tell me on a daily basis how useless I was, and how anyone could do my job. I quit after two months unable to take it anymore, and then the firm filed for bankruptcy so I never even got paid.
2) Current TV show? I watch a lot of different shows. Do you mean current favorite? That would be Stargate. Current favorite which is still airing? That would be Once Upon a Time. Newest show that I’ve picked up? Star Trek: Enterprise. Last show I watched? Also Enterprise.
3) Childhood favorite book? I really loved the Harry Potter series as a kid but by the time the seventh book came out I was quite disenchanted. I still loved the potential of the world but I’d noticed all the plot holes and the less savory implications. I liked the Hardy boys, Redwall, Enid Blyton, I’m not sure I could pick an actual favorite.
4) Planes, cars, boats or coaches/trains? Boats definitely, I love the ocean and sailing. If I had the money and could get reliable internet, I would live on a boat.
5) Favorite seasons? Heh when I first read this I thought you meant TV seasons – one track mind! Autumn/winter because all the bugs die and I can snuggle under blankets without getting too hot.
6) Favorite boys & girls names? I don’t know, that’s difficult because names are usually tied to associations. Say a name and think of a person, or in my case – characters. I’m going to change this question to favourite characters instead, sorry, not sorry. Ok favorite male character (I have to pick one?) – Nicholas Rush. Favourite female character – Regina.
7) Favorite flower? I hate flowers, they attract bugs but I suppose I like flowers that look like flowers (I know that doesn’t make sense). Something like roses because they don’t have the ugly stamen thing (I think that’s what it’s called) in the middle.
8) What is your most prized possession? My iPod, it keeps me sane and they don’t make them anymore (it’s about 10 years old) and I want to keep it safe and working forever.
9) Best school-time memory? School wasn’t really that great for me. It’s hard to think of any really good moment. I think maybe when I got nearly a perfect score in Resistant Materials for my GCSE project. I got 101 out of 105 and they were bound to search for something to knock marks off, it was as perfect as anyone was likely to get. It was my hardest subject because it didn’t come naturally and so I actually felt like I earned that mark, I had to work really hard and that made it worth more.
10) Dream job as a child? Writer, still my dream job actually.
11) If you could live in another time, what time would you choose and why? The future because I bet they have even more cool technology. I look at what we have now and I can’t imagine living without it. Our technology has evolved so much in such a short space of time. In 50 years what will we have? In 200 years we will have our own spaceships? I want a spaceship.

Yeah it’s 10 days until the end of the month, so not counting posting day, yup it’s 9 days. Yikes 9 days .. I just need to go and erm write some more .. it’s great to hear from you again. I’m 2/3rds into chapter eleven of The War Within and I have a nagging feeling that I’m screwing this up. I’m trying to stick to canon and I’m justifying and backing up what I’m writing, using canon quotes and past scenes. However, I can’t escape the feeling that I’m making the characters act OOC.
I suppose fanfic is wish fulfillment and not canon. At the end of the day I am making the characters do/say things that we’re unlikely to see on screen. That’s the whole point of fanfic, I can make happen what I would like, not what we’re going to get.
I just hope it tracks and makes sense with the rest of the fic, that I haven’t done great leaps out of nowhere. I knew what I intended but that might not be what came across. This has been a difficult chapter. I guess I’ll find out on Tuesday what people think.

The last book I bought? I’m not sure I can remember, it was so long ago. I’m really terrible, basically all I want to read these days are books I write, or fanfic. Plus books cost money and I’m really picky about what books I buy.

But how come Hades was able to go to OZ but he had trouble going to the Living World? This makes zero sense to me. Maybe they did explain it but I’m not watching 5b again. If anybody knows that will be awesome!
I would like to know as well, lol. I admit to not even half paying attention to most episodes of 5b (i can clearly recall the events of maybe 2 episodes)
I don’t think that they did explain. However, I had headcanon that not all the realms were open to Hades, his magic was limited in scope in the living world and he could only stay for a very limited time. This is why he suddenly disappeared on Zelena during their date, because like Cinderella, his time was up and he had to return to the underworld.
That’s just my theory though. I don’t recall the show ever explaining it.

To be honest I don’t actually mind filling in the blanks. I think I actually like the show more because there are unanswered questions, it feels like potential and my favorite shows are always the ones with the most potential. I suspect that is an unusual opinion though.

2) Assuming that you’re following my blog because you like Rumbelle, how and when did you first start liking them? The moment I watched Skin Deep, which was when I first saw Once last summer. I got netflix and started trying out new shows I’d not had access to before. I binge watched the first four seasons before season five started in September.
3) Did you watch any works of Robert and/or Emilie before OUAT? If so, which one/s? I’ve never seen Emilie in anything else. However, I had seen some SGU, The Full Monty and The World is Not Enough. I hadn’t really realized though that it was Robert Carlyle. I didn’t become a fan of his until Once, and that is actually what made me watch more SGU and then I became hooked on SGU on it’s own.

6) Favorite time of day? Why? The afternoon because I tend to be more productive for some reason and I like being productive.
7) Do you have a place you’ve always wanted to visit? I like the idea of visiting lots of places but in reality I’m very much a homebody, I don’t really like going anywhere. The reality of lots of places scares me, like Australia or the Caribbean looks so pretty in pictures and I absolutely love the ocean. However, there’s lots of scary bugs and animals and I just couldn’t do it in real life.
8) Favorite ice cream flavor? I’m allergic to milk so it would be fake icecream and I’d have to go with the Vanilla Coconut one in the fridge. It is the nicest icecream in the world and I use it regularly to bribe myself to do stuff because it is so definitely worth it.
9) What’s a Rumbelle/Anyelle fic that you’ve really enjoyed reading/writing? Oh man I can’t pick just one that I’ve really enjoyed reading. Absolutely no way. I should probably make up a rec list at some point of my favorite fanfics but I’d be terrified of forgetting one. I’ve got a brain like a sieve sometimes. Plus, I feel bad about the authors I don’t list, it feels mean.
I’ve written half a dozen fics so far, I’ve got more in progress still on my hard drive. I’ve enjoyed writing most of them at times, I’m not sure I have a favorite. Although I’m quite partial to my first WIP, which might forever remain unfinished and unposted. It’s called ‘Her Happy Ending’ and I confess I re-read it sometimes because it cheers me up. It’s one of those things that I wrote in a burst of enthusiasm and now it feels like it wasn’t actually me that wrote it, probably because I enjoy reading it, so how can it be mine? I don’t know if that makes sense.
10) Best birthday gift you’ve ever received? I got my iPod for christmas, otherwise it would be that. I’ve had it 10 years and I hope to merlin it never breaks because you can’t buy them now and the new ones are rubbish in comparison. Wow, this is ungrateful, I know what I got this year and last year but I wouldn’t class either gift as ‘best birthday gift ever’ and I can’t remember what I got for my birthday in the past. Well this is awkward …
11) Can you read/write/speak in (a) different language/s? Which one/s? No which I am very embarrassed about. I would love to learn a language but I am awful at it. I drove my teacher mad at school because I wanted to know “why?”, I needed rules to learn and of course language is illogical a lot of the time. I used to know a few different programming languages but aside from PHP which I remember enough to do a few basic things, I have forgotten them because I’m so out of practice.
Some random writing thoughts today as I’m procrastinating on The War Within.
I love working on multiple fics. It makes me so much more productive because when I stall on one fic, or my brain gets tired, I just swap to another one rather than stop writing. However, it’s a really good thing I have an update schedule and deadlines, otherwise I would wind up working on new fics all the time and never finish things.
Seriously deadlines are the best invention ever, even if it kinda sucks when all I want to do is write about Gold building Belle a blanket fort, and instead I have to write Emma and Regina having a heart to heart about darkness because you know – priorities!
Also I need to think of a new title for the Rushbelle Swim Date fic, as someone posted a different Rumbelle fic with that exact title the other day. I’m not sure what the title etiquette is, but it seemed better to be safe rather than sorry and think of something else. Titles are hard.
Right I should stop procrastinating because Chapter 11 won’t write itself.
Ah ok phew – panic over. I had thought you meant some sort of background angst that I hadn’t seen which would split Belle and Gold up. This is all fine, it’s stuff they can deal with together and I have plans for all of this 🙂
I mean yeah they will fight but it’ll just be temporary, like in chapter one. I’m not very good at writing people apart for a long time, I just want to bang their heads together and order them to talk. Thank you!
