Stargate SG-1: Prototype
I die of laughter everytime I see this, I mean it is their fault a lot of the time. I think they addressed that once by saying that they were explorers and there were risks to everything but what they learned was worth it.

OTP: To be honest I don’t think there was anyone on Destiny who was suitable. That could be because Chloe was so inconsistent as a character. Sometimes she was alright, but sometimes she was whiny and I can’t ship anyone with whiny. I know she was pretty settled with Scott on the show but I don’t think he was good enough for her. Oh, he’d charge blindly into danger to save her but I don’t think he was good at the whole supportive relationship thing. So yeah don’t have one.
BrOTP: Eli for sure. I know Eli wanted more but Chloe never saw him as anything more than a friend, so I could never ship the two of them, they only worked as friends.
OT3: Don’t have one.
NoTP: I think the problem with Chloe is I don’t feel strongly enough about her to really care. I guess if I would say anything then probably Chloe/Rush (even though I’ve read Worry’s fics. Worry’s a good writer and they had Rush in ok) because I like Rush, and I’m only ever lukewarm about Chloe on a good day.
Urk you know I said Grissom wasn’t the best character? I said that because I didn’t ship him with anyone really so I thought my answers would be rubbish. Young I loathe. So I’m just going to be really sarcastic here, I’m sorry.
OTP: Young and his ego, there’s no room for anything else.
BrOTP: Young and any of the yes men that tell him he’s a good commander and a hero, when he’s actually an incompetent idiot, a disgrace to the uniform and a murderer.
OT3: Well I don’t know, I might enjoy watching Young take his ego for a little walk in the vacuum of space.
NoTP: Young and everyone else. Young and my television screen.
Honestly I don’t generally loathe characters because once I can understand them, and why they do things, I can’t hate them for it. Young is literally the only character that I out and out despise. I have never shouted so loud at the TV than I did when Young left Rush behind on the planet in Justice. I could rant about that, and how it went against everything the SGC stood for, all day. In fact I did, I was so mad I went and wrote a 5k blog post immediately afterwards because I had to scream at something.
I’m going to shut up now. Sorry for the ranting.
Wow that was instant. Thank you! *happy dance*
A crossover ship I’d dig: Well the obvious answer is Rushbelle. Except in a crossover Rumple would still be around, in which case no way because true love! Rumple and Belle just belong together. Hmm I’m actually giving this serious thought. The problem is so many people are already paired up. Alright, I think actually I’d go for Regina and Varro because Varro is like a cross between Robin and Graham, so I can see how that would work.
A crossover BroTP I’d dig: Has to be David and Lt. Scott I think, they are very much cut from the same cloth. Although I think TJ and Snow would get on well. Eli and Henry would definitely be friends. I think if Belle made friends with anyone on Destiny, I would hope it would be Volker. He’s a good guy.
A crossover Frenemies I think would be inevitable: Rush and Rumple. They are far too similar to be friends but I think they would sometimes work together, sometimes against one another, depending on whether they wanted something that was mutually beneficial or not.
A crossover badass duo I think would be inevitable: The humorous answer would be pairing Brody with Hook because Brody was the maker of alcohol on Destiny, and we know how Hook loves his rum. I doubt anybody’s liver would survive. However, the serious answer, well Greer was the best fighter on Destiny, it’s hard to pick the best fighter among the Once crew and Greer has serious trust issues. I would say in a fight, pair Greer with one of the magic wielders (Rumple, Zelena or Regina) and no enemy would survive.
A crossover animosity I think would be inevitable: Rush and everybody? No, not a good answer. Greer and everybody? No, alright I’ll try and be serious. I think Camille and Regina would snipe a lot to be honest. Camille was never the leader she should have been, she was rather ineffectual to be honest and I always hoped for better from her. I think Camille would probably bluster and try and take charge, and then Regina would just do it effortlessly because she was the Queen and Regina would do her sarcasm thing, and Camille would be offended, and then it would degenerate from there.
This was actually a harder thought experiment than I thought it would be, but definitely interesting! Thank you very much 🙂

This episode was awesome. I love the glimpse it gave us of what the shows future could be because it opened up a whole new realm of possibilities. I have so many questions about Novos, and the Tanarians and the Futurans. I wish we had seen more of them. The homeworld might be gone but clearly there were several well-developed colonies, how many more were out there?
Also what about those ships with no FTL that they were stuck onboard for a couple of hundred years. Had they developed artificial environments to grow their own food and recycle water? Honestly the Novos technology and culture is such a big question mark. Also I have all the questions about the drones, and who built them and why. I found this story arc so fascinating and its forever going to remain a mystery.
stargate atlantis rewatch: the siege part 1 (1×19)
Bates earned that punch. I mean there’s being careful, and there’s being paranoid, and there’s being an arse. He crossed the line and he never apologised for it. Actually neither did Weir, or anyone, and the Athosian’s never returned to the city. Not exactly a good example of how to make friends.
Well, erm, I, erm…
Maybe someone a bit more intelligent can answer?
It doesn’t translate goa’uld commands either.
I don’t believe the show ever explained it. However, I always put it down to intent. If I remember correctly one of the stated reasons the Ancients created the stargate network, was to allow the less advanced races to travel among the stars. They didn’t have their own technology e.g. ships to get there, so the stargate facilitated trade, communication and hopefully understanding.
So if it’s key goal was to allow people to talk with one another, that would be why it had some kind of translation component within it. However, if the intent isn’t to communicate with everyone, then the Ancient technology would be smart enough to determine that and the translator wouldn’t kick in.
When Zelenka is swearing in czech, he isn’t wanting to communicate with anyone, he’s just expressing his frustration. Hence why it’s not translated. When the goa’uld/jaffa yell commands at one another, their intent is only to communicate among themselves, and not allow their ‘prisoners’ to understand their words.
After all there would be times during diplomacy, when the races would want to talk privately among themselves. The Ancient translator would presumably be smart enough to allow that.
That’s my theory anyway 🙂
Stargate SG-1: Reckoning, Part 1
The Tok’ra really were as arrogant as the Goa’uld in many respects. It was actually very clever how they showed the Tok’ra run the spectrum. From Sel’mak to Tok’ra that were actually indistinguishable from moderate Goa’uld. It’s interesting how little Jacob/Sel’mak was in the show looking at episode numbers, he seemed like such a huge part. It was the same with Bra’tac.
stargate sg-1: a serious sci-fi show
Stargate couldn’t be serious if they tried, and they did try with SGU and the comedy still came through. It was a defining part of the series. It made the characters more real and less superhuman. They tried to make a horror episode with The Tomb and it still came out funny. They were quite genre savvy and not opposed to poking fun at themselves. I miss Stargate.
thousands of years trapped inside your own body. it’s like a nightmare; it’s unimaginable.
Thor’s hammer was fixed by the time they found Sha’re on Abydos. They could have saved her but then that would have made things complicated. Can’t have any of sg1 having a happy home life.
The politics of the goa’uld and the ethics involved is something I wish they had explored in greater depth.
