What I hope January might bring:
– The second idea I have for the Monthly Rumbelling smut prompt

December was dominated by RSS. That fic came to just over a combined 31k words and because I had to post it all at once, it’s my only fic not on tumblr. Due to writing so much other stuff in November, my WIPs suffered this month, which I feel kinda bad about. I’m sorry, it was all the fix-it fic the show made me write in November, it stole all the words 🙂 Anyway, from now on the WIP’s have my priority until they are finished.

I didn’t think I was going to be able to take part in Monthly Rumbelling in December. However, I had a very frustrated writing day which somehow spawned another WIP (I know, what was I thinking?). That wasn’t even the Monthly Rumbelling fic I had planned. Anyway, I still intend at some point to finish and post the GoldenLace Bonnie and Clyde fic I had planned for the smut prompt, it’ll just be late like Fall All Over Again was for November. In actual fact I still haven’t posted the chapter of that which included the Monthly Rumbelling prompt.

Anyway, I’ll have to see what I can manage for January. I really want to write my Enchanted Forest Rumbelle/Swanfire AU but WIP’s have to come first. I now have five WIP’s and I will finish them/most of them before I start posting anything new I promise. Thank merlin hiatus is until March 🙂

I do a status update post on the 1st of every month. In fact January’s looking back at December will be posted tomorrow. However, I thought maybe I would do a round up for the entire year, just for the fun of it. I wasn’t going to do a complete month by month breakdown because it felt a bit redundant, given I only started posting in May. However, I decided that I would add it at the end, for ease of reference, it’s under the cut for length.

November was NaNoWriMo. I said that you guys wouldn’t notice, as I probably wouldn’t be writing much more fanfic than I normally do … yeah I think you might have noticed heh 🙂 NaNo this year was kinda a disaster from my point of view. I wrote over 86k of Rumbelle fanfic (see above) but I didn’t start my original novel, and I didn’t make much progress on Nightwalkers either. Those two projects were what I wanted from the month and neither happened.

Also, I wanted 130k for the month but that didn’t happen either. I did write 86k, which is my new personal best for a months fiction total. However, basically I didn’t make any of my goals for NaNo, hence disaster. Anyway, I write all year round so it’s recoverable. December is going to be personally very difficult, so writing-wise I’ll be cutting back. My priority is RSS, and I’ll update my WIP’s when I can. I like taking part in the A Monthly Rumbelling Event but I don’t think I’ll have time. I do have an idea for the smut prompt but we’ll have to see. I’ll do my best and on January 1st I’ll see what I managed.

Halfway through the month I had a bit of a panic at the size of my list. Consequently, I deemed October as the month of finishing things. Results were … mixed. It might have worked out better if I hadn’t been ill and lost a week towards the end of the month. Isn’t it always typical that when you have the most to do, that’s when you get ill and then get even more behind? Anyway, basically there was also too much on the list to begin with, but I made a good start and November will hopefully finish off even more. I’m impatient to clear my list, because I have so many ideas that I would like to start writing, it’s tough being patient heh.

I am sorry by the way about how all of this impacted on updating Painting Layers of Love. I find that difficult to write at the best of times, and then when my list/life started to get the better of me, I couldn’t cope and something had to give. However, I’m starting to feel like I might be back in control and I hope very much to resume the regularly scheduled updates.

November means NaNoWriMo! I have big plans for the month, I want to smash my records and write all the things. As I just said, I’m hoping I will finish off a lot more fanfic projects during the month. However, my main project is going to be an original novel and that has priority over fanfic. So if I start to slip on my goals, it will be the fanfic that suffers. Besides, even if it does go well, you guys probably won’t notice anything as I won’t be writing that much more fanfic than I usually do.

At the beginning of this month I set myself a challenge to ‘write all the things’ and it didn’t exactly go according to plan. My two small oneshots for The War Within, turned into Faith of the Heart, a proper sequel. I didn’t manage to finish it before the premiere, which was my goal, but I certainly tried. With Faith of the Heart being so much longer, I then didn’t have the time for the other projects, meaning I had to push them back another month – again.

Also, just so no-one thinks I have forgotten, on my ‘upcoming’ list I have a couple more oneshots for The War Within verse, and additions to In Your Arms and Between Two Fires verses. Then the prompt verses of Love at the Marina and Renaissance Faire, and my Rushbelle fic Ripple Effect which I swear will happen one day. I’m like an elephant, I never forget fics that I have promised, they just sometimes take me a while.

Oh and just for the comedy factor. In addition to the fics I’ve mentioned in this post, I have 20 more ideas noted down potentially for ‘one day’. They might never happen, but hey at least I’m never going to be short of ideas 🙂

I know I’ve been promising Nightwalkers for ages. However, it is definitely happening next month because it’s going to be my next main WIP. It’ll take The War Within’s Tuesday slot which means that the first chapter of Nightwalkers has to be posted no later than the 27th, as The War Within has to be finished by the 25th. Ha – finally, won’t be guiltily pushing it to the next month this time 🙂

Which means that I just need to start feeling guilty about Ripple Effect. Yeah I’m not going to get to that until October /hides. I have so many fics I want to work on, I was actually frightened I was going to forget some and had to write a list. Is that too many fics? Possibly *whistles innocently* and moving on … I have a couple of War Within oneshots I want to add to the verse but that is unlikely to happen before the 25th.

I thought I would just do a bit of a status post in regards to the inspiration picture prompts. I really need to stop doing them heh, they are spawning more verses than I can keep up with 🙂 For anyone that is interested I have done 14 so far. Of those 14 …

1 is currently being posted:

2 are currently works in progress:
– Nightwalkers (first chapter will be posted September 27th)
– Rushbelle Swim Date (still needs a title, hoping to post next month)

3 will be worked on as soon as I have time:
– Rushbelle University (will be combined with Ripple Effect, hopefully posting in October)
– Renaissance Faire (I love this and will get it as soon as I can)
– Love at the Marina (I knew when I added a related ficlet I was doomed)

That leaves 8 that I’m not going to do anything with for the time being. Of those 8 I’m tempted to move half of them into the “when I have time” category as I do really like them. However, I probably wouldn’t be able to get to them for months. At the rate I’m getting new ideas, it seems prudent not to book myself up too far ahead, seeing as once I commit to writing something I like to keep my word.

I blame these two entirely …

I know I said that I hoped July would bring the first chapter of Nightwalkers and that didn’t happen. That makes me sad because I am really excited by this idea and the side of Swanfire I want to include. I planned out the general arc the other day while I was waiting for someone. I don’t know if anyone else ever gets this but I have to write this fic, because I really really want to read it. Is that weird?

Sadly Ripple Effect, my Rushbelle fic, has been put on the backburner for the time being. I really want to write it but not enough hours in the day! As I said in a random writing thoughts post I’m worried about maintaining a consistent posting schedule with multiple WIP’s. Painting Layers of Love wasn’t intended to be a WIP, it was an accidental WIP and I hope to finish it, and get it off deck, as soon as possible. I’m not committing to a regular posting schedule for it because I just don’t know how much I’ll be able to manage.

Finding out what I could manage, and increasing it, was the theory behind adding Friday as an optional posting day for The War Within. 1) I will be able to finish The War Within faster. 2) It will push me to up my game and write more each week, which is something I’ve now inadvertently forced by adding the accidental WIP.

Basically we’ll have to see what happens.

I rather like summary posts. I also like setting goals because I can’t hit a target if I can’t see it. I’ve not done one of these posts before, but I’ll probably do one on the 1st of every month.

– At least the first chapter of my as yet untitled fic based on this idea – There has been a murder in Storybrooke. I’m really excited by this idea and I’ve moved it to the top of the list after my current WIP’s.

I’m taking part in Camp NaNo this July, as always (if it’s NaNo then I’m there) and so I hope a lot of words will get written. My left arm is still really painful if used, so I’m restricted to dictation which I loathe. Dictation also makes me a lot slower. Seriously, I really miss typing. However, the slug club can still do a lot of words, it just means more butt in chair time.
