Flynn got kidnapped and nobody noticed.

I’m so relieved.

Him just leaving like that was fairly unforgivable but he didn’t so that’s ok.

I’m still kinda sad though because this is the last ever episode 🙁

Watching The Librarians and this whole “there can only be one” business really makes me think they missed a trick.

Judson was immortal, Charlene was immortal, Jenkins was immortal – Duloque was immortal!

I know, I know, I pointed that out (and how many more candles in the candle room there were) last time but it’s bugging me.

Wouldn’t it have made so much more sense if the library had been founded as a collective and then ideology had split them apart.

Duloque felt superior to man and wanted to use the power to rule them. Judson wanted to protect man from what it didn’t understand (a bit like a parent and child) and also thus protect them from Duloque.

There could have been others but maybe they sided eventually – they chose as Jenkins said – with either Judson or Duloque. Ever since then it was said there could only be one librarian – one clear vision. I mean the team fought a little over that in season 3 with Jacob very anti-magic and Cassandra thinking a little was ok.

I headcanon that the reason there is a mortal librarian at all is because Judson realised eventually they needed fresh minds to solve the mysteries, a new perspective etc. Plus just understanding the outside world. I mean it’s hard for people to cope with change over a single generation but for immortals, the world would be unrecognisable.

This two brothers being selfish thing just feels so arbitrary in comparison.

One second I’m smiling over the matching bowling shirts …

… the next I’m sad because what the hell just happened? Flynn left without saying goodbye! He left with finality! He left when they had plans even and with what just happened to Jenkins I can’t even

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

You know what I’m hurt on Eve’s behalf. I still ship them but I hope he a) has a damn good explanation for his lack of decency! and b) she kicks his ass and takes a while to forgive him because walking out like that is so wrong.

They were contemplating eternity together – eternity! And he leaves the ring and walks out without a word?

It hurts.

I watched The Librarians last night – again! (I know I’m obsessed)

I decided to rewatch key episodes from seasons 1-3 before starting season 4 to delay the end of NO MORE Librarians because *cries* 10 full seasons and a movie wouldn’t have been enough, 42 episodes is just sad, but I digress.

The Candle Room

This is what I was thinking about last night. How many candles were burning in there? It certainly looked like more than 8 (Flynn, Eve, Ezekiel, Jacob, Cassandra, Jenkins, Charlene and Nicole).

Some will presumably belong to Librarians out of time like Teddy Chislington, Darrington Dare etc. but what about Duloque? He was Lancelot, another immortal knight. I don’t think the source of his immortality was ever confirmed but Jenkins said that he made a choice, and he chose the library. So maybe Duloque was originally with the library but he wanted to use magic, living so long made him feel superior etc. hence the split.

Jenkins mentioned once that immortals liked the south of France in the summer I think? I forget but I’m sure there was a line like that. Now I know there’s vampires but perhaps there’s a lot more former library personnel out there too. Those that sided with Duloque, or who got tired of fighting and wanted some personal time. Jenkins said that in the 1600′s he wasn’t at the library because he had a personal crisis of sorts so maybe there are others.

This circles round to a vague pet theory of mine. Dean Devlin was one of the creators of Stargate. In Leverage it was WOG that Eliot had worked for the SGC so is it too far-fetched to wonder if maybe Jenkins and the others started out life as Ancients? After all Merlin was an Ancient, even if the knights apparently were not but this is a different reality. One where perhaps the Stargate was never invented. Where the Ancients pored their research into other areas.

We know from Atlantis and the accidental creation of the Wraith that the Ancients were interested in immortality. We also know from when Rodney blew up most of a solar system that exotic particles – the rules of physics not applying – happened sometimes when their research went wrong.

What if magic, the leylines etc. was the result of an experiment that went wrong (or right depending on your pov) and the remaining Ancients split over how to handle it, much like the Ancients and the Ori split. That would explain Jenkins stuttering over “different species”, it would explain the libraries vehemence on “magic corrupts” AND it would explain why there were more than 8 candles.

It would also explain the whole “this side of the mirror” thing – can we say ascension anyone? The whole glowing and transforming into light sure looked familiar.

“Go and put on your best party jumpsuit”

I’ve watched 2×01 at least 3x now and this is the first time I noticed that SHE DID.

(gif credit: imagination-parade)

I mean I know she has a lot of jumpsuits but I just find this really cool. Actually I super love the season 2 premiere for soooooo many reasons. It encapsulates so much of what I love about this show.

but a party jumpsuit? Heh love it 🙂

You know that quote?

“It wasn’t love at first sight exactly more hello it’s you, it’s going to be you”

Yeah I’m still thinking about Eve and Flynn. I’m thinking about how Flynn totally disarmed Eve when they first met in the German steam tunnels. She had never met anyone like him, she didn’t know how to deal with him, but he was intelligent and for all his irreverence she trusted his instructions with the nuke.

Then they fought. “I don’t need her!” “You can’t tell me what to do!” and it was antagonistic but at the same time it wasn’t because Flynn is prickly, he isn’t mean. When they were hiking to the henge he complimented her on taking down those goons at the museum. He noticed. They had a brief exchange and realised how similar they were – two loners, married to their work, pushed everyone else away.

I definitely think that’s when the attraction kicked in. Look how soft Eve’s face is when she looks at Flynn. She has the same softness when she thinks he’s going to die down by the Excalibur stone. He got past all her defences, he was like nobody she’d ever met. Jenkins said that she was his guardian, that if he was drowning she’d save him and he was drowning with the loss of Judson, Charlene and the library. She talked to him, she knew him already “if that was the right thing to do then you’d be doing it – not reading about it”

I always remember the quote from the movie Speed – “relationships formed in extreme circumstances never work out” but with Eve and Flynn they bypassed that because they didn’t jump in.

They acknowledged the attraction, that it was very tempting to be together “wish I could travel the world with you” and they kissed but that was it. They took their time, “I’ll text you, you text me, we’ll text each other.” and so they built a relationship on the best of foundations – mutual respect and friendship.

and a lot of hearteyes.

I’m having a bad day and decided to rewatch the two-part premiere of The Librarians and I have thoughts. Don’t mind me 🙂

Right so, Judson was immortal, tethered to the library. For him to die he must have given up his immortality like Charlene did towards the end of season three. Why would he do that?

Flynn survived 10 years, longer than any other librarian – how? Maybe halfway in, so “five years ago” Flynn did die but Judson saved him by swapping the life force, the same as #spoilers I read that Jenkins got tricked into doing in season four. (I know I spoiled myself, I suck).

Ok now Cassandra – if surgery could save her a) why did she never have it before season 3? and b) why was she so desperate? She said to Duloque that they should share magic, to save those that science couldn’t, so I always assumed from that her tumour was inoperable.

Maybe it was. I mean it was a lot smaller at the beginning and right before the surgery the doctor did say he was amazed she was still walking around. The last of Excalibur’s raw magic healed Flynn, and he said it would have healed Cassandra. By the time of her surgery she’d been using magic a fair a bit, casting spells etc. Maybe that had an effect and so magic saved her after all.

Now we could say there were a couple of continuity errors between the movies and the TV show but I prefer to explain things in universe if possible.

Excalibur in the first movie is shown in the stone. Judson invites Flynn to try and pull it out, though the sword does fly around on it’s own. Maybe it wasn’t ‘the stone’ because it didn’t need to be, the important relic was the sword. It’s like they put the artifacts on display cushions, well Excalibur got a display stone. You know like how museums have displays.

Also Charlene was recently divorced (Gaston) mentioned in 1st and 3rd movies but in the TV show it’s implied that she and Judson were an item, and that’s why Jenkins never had a chance with her (and also why he didn’t really like Judson). The original librarian and guardian – makes sense and it’s a nice echo with my OTP 🙂 so I really don’t know. I do like the name Gaston plus divorce because that kinda makes Charlene Belle (and she works in the library heh).

It has been implied that Judson was a bit of a James Bond type librarian with a girl in every port (a bit like Flynn pre-Eve tbh) and so maybe he and Charlene had an open relationship? They loved one another deeply, were committed to each other but had dalliances with other people, just not other immortals because that would get awkward. Alas poor Jenkins.

Oh and I really want to know when Jenkins told Eve he was immortal and therefore she couldn’t kick his ass. I bet he was laughing so hard on the inside when Eve tried to intimidate him with “make yourself useful or make yourself gone”. So funny.

Ok when Nicole Noone walked on screen and Flynn was mesmerised I was scared for a minute that Librarian/Guardian was a ‘thing’ and somehow I felt that would undermine how perfect Eve and Flynn are together, it would somehow make it like any guardian would work and not just Eve.

Buuuuut then Nicole opened her mouth and yeah no – she is NOT Eve and I have never been more grateful for someone to be so rude and condescending in my life.

She is no-one just like her name. OTP intact 🙂

I got the Spear of Destiny movie today and I just had a shipper moment even though this is 10 years before they met.

Flynn’s mom: I just want you to find love

Flynn: I will, at the right time, the right person.

Me: Librarian and guardian! When you meet Eve whoo

Sorry not sorry.
