💘 Leverage
OMG I swear you always pick the hardest ones! haha. You like to make me work for it 🙂 Thank you very much as always for the ask! I really appreciate it.
Alright *thinks hard*
Favourite – Parker
Parker means a lot to me and the more I rewatch (which I do often) the deeper I see. At first I thought she didn’t realize when she was being what most people would deem ‘weird’ but then there was that episode where we meet Archie and she says “it’s ok I wouldn’t have fit in with the real family anyway” and I realized that actually it did hurt Parker a lot and that perhaps some of her seeming ignorance was really just carefully crafted pretending aka ‘if I pretend not to care then maybe it won’t hurt anymore’.
So Parker is sometimes weird, she is detail orientated, protective of her personal space, she doesn’t understand people – she’s me basically. I mean while sometimes I have favourite characters whom I don’t identify with, the ones that get under my skin tend to be ones whom I do identify with. Leverage is such a good show for a hundred reasons (which aren’t relevant to this ask) but re: Parker. I love that they accept her unconditionally but I also love that the acceptance is realistic. Sometimes they get frustrated with her, sometimes they even get angry because they don’t understand but they are always there for her and she’s always part of their family.
Least Favourite – Nate
I was tempted to cheat here and pick a minor character but that would be – cheating so I didn’t.
I do like Nate but he’s just the one I find least interesting I suppose. I also dislike his occasional arrogance when it’s aimed at the team. I enjoy him gloating to the bad guys but when he shuts down one of the guys because he thinks he knows best, or a little bit of what happened with Sophie. Don’t get me wrong I think their romance was well-written and how it developed slowly and how Sophie always supported him but wasn’t willing to let his shit slide was a revelation compared to most TV relationships. I mean on most shows their relationship would have been used for ‘the drama’ and turned toxic or just unhealthy. Not so with Leverage. I really feel like it was proper grown-up how they handled it.
Anyway basically as you’ve forced me to choose :p Nate is my least favourite but when it comes to a quality show like Leverage that doesn’t mean much – I love all the characters. This show is well written, there’s proper character development. I will never be over Hardison saying to Parker “they are here when you want them” because he would never push her into anything she wasn’t ready for.
