Saw this Wednesday night and dsjfgsdfjsdlkfjkldsfjklsd
I somehow managed to avoid spoilers and that meant that the surprises were 100% a surprise which led to me punching the air in the movie theater and just generally it made it a better experience!! Yes that was a very long sentence but asdjalskdjalskdjals I mean it was a keyboard smash kinda movie!
So spoilers spoilers, avoid if you haven’t seen it, do not click ok?
PEPPER RETURNS!!!!!!!
Zomg I did NOT see that coming I mean seriously. In Cap: Civil War Tony said they were on a break but then Pepper is back and and AND – THEY GOT ENGAGED!!!!
Like oh yes. It was so funny and so typically them and Tony and everything how that happened. Peter refused a spot on The Avengers and they had a press room full of journalists and Happy has been carrying the ring since 2008? Well at least Pepper knows Tony has been thinking about this for a while 🙂
Erm ok there was other stuff to the movie but that was the main “I did not know that was happening!!” which totally took me by surprise and led to much silent celebrating. I mean I don’t hardcore ship anyone in the MCU but Tony deserves some happiness and Pepper unexpectedly guest starring was just brilliant.
Right what else? Well I thought it was awesome how they took a completely different tack with this “origin” movie. I mean they kinda had to because Peter had his powers in Cap: Civil War but they barely mentioned the spider. To be honest I kinda thought they were going to go the Inhuman route. They also didn’t mention Uncle Ben. There was some allusion to something bad that happened which is why Aunt May worries more but no details. It was nice not to just get a rehash. This is the third reboot practically in a decade and finally it was something different!
Oh and what got the biggest laughs in the theater? When Ned lied and said he was looking at porn when he was in the computer lab. He’d actually been “the guy in the chair” helping Peter. AND the end credits scene. A lot of people had sat there waiting (including me obviously) and then Cap appeared with another PSA like his sports one, and detention one, that had been seen during the movie. It talked about patience and waiting a while for something, and everyone just burst into laughter. It was a nice poking fun at the end credits thing.
MJ being Michelle and a background character was interesting. I knew there had been some stuff in the press about who was playing who, but I don’t tend to follow that kind of thing so it was a nice surprise.
Lingering questions:
– May saw Peter at the end of the movie in his costume. She knows! So what’s going to happen then?
– Did Peter ever sign the Sokovia Accords?
Tony saying Peter had a room next to Vision reminded me of a “count” that I’d done of the Avengers, and a bit of resentment I have against Steve with that. Steve said that “the Avengers were Tony’s family maybe more than his” so he was leaving Tony with the Avengers, but then Steve kinda took all of them with him anyway. I mean think about it who remains?
Injured Rhodey, Tony himself and Vision.
Hulk and Thor are in space and Cap has everyone else – Natasha, Barton, Wanda, Falcon, Ant-Man and Bucky.
So Peter has a room next to Vision because Vision is basically all that’s left on the active roster.
Anyway, I thought it was a brilliant movie. I’m sure I’m forgetting loads of the comments I wanted to make because the moment Pepper hit the screen my brain just started screaming.
