Made-up fic title: Like The Desert In Spring

From this post.

Hmm my first thought was what is the climate like. Hot deserts are warm in spring and getting increasingly hot heading towards summer; cold deserts are barely warm enough for a bit of moss and grass to grow. My second thought was the song Honest Questions popped into my head.

I will pour my water down
Upon a thirsty barren land
And streams will flow from the dust of
Your bruised and broken soul

Either way it’s about coming to life, or life managing to flourish in a hostile environment. Then as it’s quite a long title, it would be cool if there were layers to the meaning. So a story set in the desert, or with a character returning from the desert, and likening the events of the story to their experiences. Plus in the context of desert, spring has other connotations like an oasis – water for the desperate dehydrated man.

So with that background I’m sure there are several possibilities but my first thought is an anyelle with David Russell because I’ve only recently watched The Last Enemy. He was a Middle Eastern specialist and I headcanon he was military, probably special forces, before that. So a short oneshot, homecoming type deal, when he returns to Belle from a tour overseas.
