Random Drabble

I haven’t finished my Harry Potter thesis, it’s still in the draft section. In other news my TV has started to exhibit some odd behaviour. It doesn’t switch on but there is a burst of volume for a few seconds and then it stops, an engineer is going to come out and try and fix it next week.

I’m going on vacation tomorrow to Scarborough. I have plans to visit York and the Railway museum that is there. I also want to visit (again) the North York moors railway, Whitby (excellent fish and chips), Goathland (home of Heartbeat) and the surrounding area. We’re going for a week so I have a full six days to fill. A day at the museum, a day at Whitby, a day (or two at Goathland), a day on the railway, a day around Scarborough itself. Sounds fun. I don’t quite know how it’ll all work out but I’ll have a weeks worth of posts when I return.

Have to pack today. I’m an electronics geek so it’ll probably take me a while, I’ve got a laptop, camera, camcorder, GPS, cellphone, removable hard disk, MP3 player and accessories. I musn’t forget either my extension lead or the adaptor for the hard disk as for some reason the standard plug is two pin. In the morning I need to put a couple more things for the TV on to record. If I want to use the guide (and thus get it right) I can only do a week in advance.

CSI:NY is on tonight. I’ll write my review of that tomorrow to post when I get back as well.

Oh, I didn’t post about the start of Heartbeat. It’s still season 17 just continuing from where ITV have left off twice. It’s not as good as the season 12 repeats they were running during the day but it’s not that bad. I don’t like Phil’s replacement, he’s mean and nasty. I also still don’t like Peggy, she ruined a perfectly good oppertunity for David because she was jealous and annoyed that she hadn’t been asked. It’s controlling and horrible. I missed Oscar he wasn’t in it. The cast feels bloated, like they hardly get any screentime. I don’t think it’s any larger than the season 12 cast, they just don’t work as well together so the episode is disjointed rather than flowing smoothly. Oh well it goes through rough patches and then bounces back. I didn’t like Steve Crane but Rob Walker who came after was my favourite.

End drabble I think.

Freedom or something close to it

I am free! I have finished my exams and I’m now banishing their existence to the back of my brain (or attempting to anyway). I have to wait till August 14th till I find out the results so I’m trying to convince myself that worrying is pointless.

As promised I’ve taken over the housekeeping duties for my mother. So far my cooking hasn’t turned out to be that bad and I’ve even done a little bit of cleaning. Not much. I did some tidying yesterday and started the hoovering today, I didn’t finish on account for the fact that I accidentally sucked up this perfumed ball from the poupouri and it clogged the vacuum. I then had my hair cut and got some groceries. It was odd leading my mum round the shop, I had a list and was being very single minded about it but she kept wandering and throwing other stuff in the trolley. Not quite the exercise in living on a budget she promised but I’m not complaining.

I’m going to attempt to structure my days so that I get all the chores done but still have time to fulfill my summer projects. I’ve always been rubbish about estimately how long something takes to do so it’s going to be interesting to see how that goes.

On another note I finally managed to watch the CSI:NY premiere for season four today. I’d missed it when it was on Five for the first time and had thought I’d have to wait until the end of September for the boxset before I’d get to see it. I’ve written a review for it and posted it at the addicted and I’ll post it here tomorrow.

It’s been a long time . . .

. . . over a month actually. How appalling! My only defense is that I’ve been busy. Within this month was my last couple of weeks at school and half of my A level exams. Oh my computer also got delivered so I’ve been tinkering with that in my spare moments. It’s an amazing beast of a machine. I also recieved my copy of Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection. I’ve installed it but it’s unfortunately doing the cyber equivilent of gathering dust right now. I have four more exams left, one General Studies which is tomorrow, two politics on wednesday and a final politics on friday and then I’m free! So far I think they’ve gone ok. My computing paper was a disaster but on the upside I think my coursework was really good so the grade should balance out to be ok. The General Studies and Psychology papers I sat last week were ok too. I was worried about the Psychology one, the Health and Research Methods paper but I felt positive about it. I took the Psychology synoptic this afternoon and I feel decidedly not positive about it. Never mind though it can’t be changed so I’ll try not to worry about it.

Now changing the subject away from the depressing subject of exams. The other night insomnia met snarkiness and I tore apart the first Harry Potter book and in a fit of inspiration (or madness) wrote a discussion on ‘Why I love the world but hate the plot’. It’s surprisingly well reasoned for something done at night time of night and has supporting evidence and everything. If I feel up to it next week, or sometime this summer, when the only demands on my time are keeping house for my mum (it’s my job unless I actually get a job so cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing etc. here I come) and working through my projects which have got thrown by the wayside during the school year, I might type it up, this blog should have something vaguely resembling content rather than my boring rambles, one day I might even get a visitor that isn’t a spam bot! Woah that was a long sentence, clearly my grammer and sentence crafting skills are deserting me.

Till the next time!
