Made of Honour
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008I went and saw this yesterday at the cinema. It stars Patrick Dempsey as Tom and Michelle Monaghan as Hannah. I thought it was very good, the soundtrack was awesome. I didn’t think the film was quite as good as 27 Dresses (which starred Patrick Dempsey’s co-star Kathrine Heigl from Grey’s Anatomy) but it was pretty good. I mean I knew the ending before it had even started really as it was a disrupt the wedding one. The person who suddenly realises he’s in love with the bride bursts in during the ‘If anyone knows just cause’ part and then the bride rushes to his side they kiss and live happily ever after. This film didn’t deviate from that in the slightest but it was still good fun.
I think they did something to Patrick Dempsey at the start of the film as he didn’t look like himself. It was slightly weird but then he was meant to be at college so at least 10 years younger. In the film he gets to show his talents as a juggler (with china wonder how many broke in the takes) and he rides a horse which was quite funny until he went head first into the church door which had it actually happened would have been quite painful.
All the way through the film I though I recognised Michelle Monaghan and I might do, she’s been in Winter Solstice and Mission Impossible III but I can’t place her in either movie which is strange. Oh and another part about the film was them playing basketball (another talent of Dempsey’s) and I felt sorry for the really geeky guy who was, poor guy, quite disgusting and I felt bad for him despite his oddness because it was obvious he thought it fantastic he was being allowed to hang out with the cool kids, although they didn’t let him do much and kept dismissing him which was mean but he didn’t seem to notice. Yeah didn’t like that part of the movie.
The one deviation from the generic script was that they didn’t make the potential groom a jerk. Instead the reason they split was because they didn’t know much about each other and didn’t have a lot in common. I thought that was nice as as much as I like watching the bad guy get his comeuppance this felt more realistic as the bride wasn’t making such a gigantic mistake as marrying a jerk.
In other news I’m on my eleventh Cagney and Lacey tape. I was also spitting tacks this morning as I there was an episode on for real and I forgot to put it on to record last night. When I woke up and realised I knew I would have missed the early one but back when I recorded all my tapes they repeated the same episode again at 11. No such luck now and it’s one of my favourite episodes as well. The tape it was on corrupted. So I’m going to have to wait months until it comes round again. How irritating. But to brighten my day my third lesson was canceled so I finished school at 11.30am today. I then came home and have made multiple phone calls to UCAS and the universities about my name change. Oh I also rang Mesh, the people supplying my new computer and the processor I wanted isn’t available so I’m going to have to take a downgrade, I doubt it’ll be that noticeable and it’ll be a definite improvement on my current machine plus it gets me a refund of £88 so I’m going to go with it. Hopefully now that’s sorted it’ll be delivered middle of next week.
