Made of Honour

I went and saw this yesterday at the cinema. It stars Patrick Dempsey as Tom and Michelle Monaghan as Hannah. I thought it was very good, the soundtrack was awesome. I didn’t think the film was quite as good as 27 Dresses (which starred Patrick Dempsey’s co-star Kathrine Heigl from Grey’s Anatomy) but it was pretty good. I mean I knew the ending before it had even started really as it was a disrupt the wedding one. The person who suddenly realises he’s in love with the bride bursts in during the ‘If anyone knows just cause’ part and then the bride rushes to his side they kiss and live happily ever after. This film didn’t deviate from that in the slightest but it was still good fun.

I think they did something to Patrick Dempsey at the start of the film as he didn’t look like himself. It was slightly weird but then he was meant to be at college so at least 10 years younger. In the film he gets to show his talents as a juggler (with china wonder how many broke in the takes) and he rides a horse which was quite funny until he went head first into the church door which had it actually happened would have been quite painful.

All the way through the film I though I recognised Michelle Monaghan and I might do, she’s been in Winter Solstice and Mission Impossible III but I can’t place her in either movie which is strange. Oh and another part about the film was them playing basketball (another talent of Dempsey’s) and I felt sorry for the really geeky guy who was, poor guy, quite disgusting and I felt bad for him despite his oddness because it was obvious he thought it fantastic he was being allowed to hang out with the cool kids, although they didn’t let him do much and kept dismissing him which was mean but he didn’t seem to notice. Yeah didn’t like that part of the movie.

The one deviation from the generic script was that they didn’t make the potential groom a jerk. Instead the reason they split was because they didn’t know much about each other and didn’t have a lot in common. I thought that was nice as as much as I like watching the bad guy get his comeuppance this felt more realistic as the bride wasn’t making such a gigantic mistake as marrying a jerk.

In other news I’m on my eleventh Cagney and Lacey tape. I was also spitting tacks this morning as I there was an episode on for real and I forgot to put it on to record last night. When I woke up and realised I knew I would have missed the early one but back when I recorded all my tapes they repeated the same episode again at 11. No such luck now and it’s one of my favourite episodes as well. The tape it was on corrupted. So I’m going to have to wait months until it comes round again. How irritating. But to brighten my day my third lesson was canceled so I finished school at 11.30am today. I then came home and have made multiple phone calls to UCAS and the universities about my name change. Oh I also rang Mesh, the people supplying my new computer and the processor I wanted isn’t available so I’m going to have to take a downgrade, I doubt it’ll be that noticeable and it’ll be a definite improvement on my current machine plus it gets me a refund of £88 so I’m going to go with it. Hopefully now that’s sorted it’ll be delivered middle of next week.

Countdown

This time next week my name will have changed. This time next week I will legally be known as Samantha. This was driven home when in General Studies today I realised that there must be someone else who’s name is Samantha because the teacher, calling on us to answer, said that and I reacted before I realised that he wasn’t talking to me and couldn’t be talking to me just yet. It was a very surreal moment.

This time in four weeks it’ll be my last day at sixth form as we break up for half term and don’t come back as we have study leave. My first exam is on June 5th, it’s Computing and then General Studies in the afternoon. This time in two months I’ll have finished all my exams and be done waiting for August and results time.

As you might be able to tell this post is kind of pointless. There’s nothing much going on in my world right now. I’m going to my uncle’s on sunday. I feel kind of obligated as I got out of it the last time as I don’t like going. Families are complicated. Plus it’s my birthday next week and so I need to be there to say thank you for my gift. I doubt I’ll be allowed to open it early and my mum said I didn’t have to go but I think it’s a tad ungrateful not to.

I watched Casino Royale the Bond movie yesterday. The internet broke as my mum’s Ebay account was hacked into and from that they got her credit card details. It was actually kind of sad she said she felt like her security blanket had been taken away when they made her cut the card up. Anyway, she went on a massive password changing spree and for some reason that broke the modem even before I’d turned the PC on. It was very odd and so lack of internet made me watch the movie. It’s a good film, possibly the best Bod film although I liked Pierce Brosnan’s interpretation as well. Daniel Craig seems to bring a level of realism to the role which I prefer.

I also watched House last night and I have to say I didn’t like it. So far Season Four has been good. To borrow from House I’ll use a metaphor. The episodes so far are all apples, bright and shiny, this episode was the bad apple that’s bruised and going mouldy. I thought that Foreman was really out of character, the episode just didn’t flow. I mean the CIA storyline was so out of there it was funny, this ID badge that read CIA yeah really like that would happen? House was good though, the flirting and sneaky treatments, calling Wilson, telling that CIA guy he was an idiot, brilliant. Maybe that’s why this episode wasn’t as good Wilson had just one scene and Cuddy wasn’t in it much either. I also thought that the doctor without borders doc poisoning the patient was really out of character as well. It’s like they had to get rid of another doctor and couldn’t think of a reason so they pulled that. Just odd, didn’t like it at all. A poor episode really I think. Hopefully next weeks will be better, back to the normal good standard.
