Birthday Celebrations

Yesterday it was my mum’s birthday, she turned 50. My friend Mel refuses to believe she’s that old and we actually argued about it which was quite funny. For her birthday I gave my mum Kingdom (Season One) and £20 as I was going to buy a small bottle of Ralph Lauren: Lauren style perfume but that line has been discontinued. I wouldn’t normally spend that much as normally my mum would get mad at me for it but it’s a special birthday this year. From my grandparents she got help buying a car, a Toyota Yaris.

I have one of those mine’s from 2004 and obviously my mums is 2008. We had a mock argument about whose car was more superior. I personally like my car better, it’s a nice light blue and it looks friendly, the headlights sort of smile whereas mums is a gunmetal gray and looks stern. However, hers beats mine on having the volume of the CD/radio whatever visible, mine does go up and down you just can’t see any indication of what the volume is. Mine has a sunroof though, not that I ever use it, it’s just something to swank about. Oh and something about the seats in her car is better but we both have AC, electric windows and CD player. I won the argument by saying I had mine first (since March 2007) and therefore she copied me.

Mum got her car about a month ago so the only thing she had to open yesterday was what I gave her. She also didn’t have a cake as my grandparents are on a diet and Grandma is recently discovered to be diabetic so she can’t have sugar. I cooked her dinner though and we watched some of the Kingdom DVD, I’d never really watched it and what I had seen hadn’t endeared me to it but it’s ok, not something I’d choose to watch but something I might watch if there was nothing better on (in my view there’s always something better on as that’s what DVD’s were invented for). Anyway, she chose the meal and had breaded chicken fillet with jacket potato, brocolli, carrots and sugar snap peas. I cooked the same for me except I don’t like jacket potato so I cooked hash browns for me instead. I don’t think I did a particularly good job, in truth I need more practice I just avoid it like the plague (when I go to uni I’ll cook until then I’d prefer not to, I mean it’s edible just not as good as mum’s) as the chicken was tough, overcooked probably, and the vegetables were soggy and probably overcooked. Hash browns were nice though, I’d cooked them for about an hour and they were really crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, yummy.

Talking about today there was really bad traffic on my way to school. Not enough to make me late but certainly annoying. I also think I’ve become a magnet for sirens. I had to move out of the way of two ambulances this morning and yesterday one ambulance and two police cars. I swear I’ve never seen so many. Till later or tomorrow!
